I like the Star, to me it's been in a far better state than the sport for years. The improvements look good to me, on a purely personal level I would like more technical articles about the machines and tracks but realise most wouldn't. The balance at the moment is probably about right for the majority, few , if any, other minority sports get anything near as good as the Speedway Star. Can't understand the gripes about too much Grasstrack or overseas coverage, it's not like you can't just flip past those pages if you have no interest and those who do have an interest appreciate it.

Agree but they probably don’t get paid for that and god forbid that they do something for nothing in order to improve their performance. It just seems that they don’t give a damn about the fans nor do they realise what a poor state the sport is in. They turn up do the four or five rides and leave. It is what it is, but they don’t realise that fans of the sport have options including more speedway on TV. If the riders cannot be bothered why should the supporters part with cash. Let’s hope the riders take a good look at what they have, because when it’s gone that will be it and they will only have themselves to blame.

I seem to remember Sundstrom going quite well at Monmore but he isn't riding well, Shanes is good there sometimes but we miss Hans at tracks like Monmore.

I find it disappointing that Mike Golding is not being mentioned in your thread Mike. He was part of the team that swept in so refreshingly in 1999. Hope people don't forget that.

I don't get this 'such a massive home advantage' bit that is often trotted out. Did we have such a great advantage in the lean years when we were losing for fun (not for the supporters) and adrift towards the bottom? The riders we currently have and have had the past couple of seasons have built up some good home advantage. However I do find it odd that some of those riders who might struggle now rode it very well in the those lean years.

Very few people taking their places at Shielfield last night would have predicted what was about to happen, but take nothing away from Newcastle they thoroughly deserved their win and had Berwick not finally got into some kind of form in the later races Newcastle`s win might've been all the more convincing. Gating was vital last night and the away team were far better in virtually every race and with track conditions ultra slick passing was always going to be difficult. Hopefully for Berwick this performance was a one off, and it might be a blessing that it was in a non league match that saw such a poor night for normally reliable riders. I guess we will get some answers next week against a handy looking Lakeside team. Thank you and well done to Dick Barrie on a perfect tribute to the late Ivan Mauger and letting us remember Berwick supporter Martin Hastings.

Roll on Thursday when the Poole fans might just go back to their own thread to talk about the make up of their team..... nah they'll go and invade whichever club has the misfortune to host them next

But thats the way the Poole team has been built this year. You cant go top heavy like Poole have with Kurtz, Holder and Josh and Linus as 4 heat leaders yet be strong in reserve. If Shanes gets 3 or 4 a meeting he will have done his job. The problem at Poole is that the top boys are not doing there job

I see some Poole fans are calling for Shanes to be ditched, what do you expect from a 2 pointer?? No wonder you don't get queues of talented Brits wanting to join Poole. Shanes did his job last year and will do the same again this year. A talented motorcyclist that needs persevering with. It's the job of the other 6 not your number 7 to score the points for you.

Merely a layman's opinion, but to the eye Monmore has a unique shape that requires a different approach than other tracks. . Always well prepared, it has long straights and tight corners this create many problems to unexperienced riders. The difference we have at Lynn is that most riders like to come here and race. Our home advantage is very little. That's not a moan, merely an observation. I actually enjoy evenly contested matches, even when we lose.

Hope Alfie is OK after a very nasty spill at Mildenhall today. Have seen him ride a number of times against the Witches in the last 12 months and he has impressed me with the way he atracks his races. I think he has something about him that many others dont and was glad to see him get his chance. Thought the Newman hoodoo had struck again too but thankfully I understand he should be all OK

Nikolaj Busk Jacobsen has had a very decent night riding for Newcastle in their home meeting with Redcar, he has scored 9+1 from four rides.

Hopefully a few arses have been kicked into gear because that really was not acceptable! The 2nd half made it respectable but to get beaten out the gate like that so regularly was concerning! I'm a mug but I will be there next week.. It's a challenge match so that makes things a little easier to deal with. Maybe that's a warning to not be complacent against anyone!

Havnt you got yr own thread to go to..

He's started the season in great form too. Really coming of age when you think he was struggling for a team spot in the 2nd division before Somerset picked him up.

Wonder if we will take a leaf out the Monarchs book and ride under protest, now that would be ironic double standards yet again but only when it suits.

I see that Dan scored 11 points out of 12 in Sweden riding for Vargarna in the Vetlanda Cup. augurs well for the future

King - looks fast but doesn’t know how to team ride. Hartel - looks ok should achieve at least a 5 average. Schlein - looks good should be riding at 5 Heeps - A bit better tonight but still needs to improve his gating as there is no outside line at Foxhall at the mo Covatti - Needs to be protected by riding at 3 or 4 Mountain - Needs to improve around Foxhall, he’s been here long enough now Hume - A bit better tonight, got in Heeps’ way in heat 14 but on the positive he stayed on his bike tonight and was practicing after the meeting Hawkins - has not impressed so far, got riding order wrong, doesn’t seem to have the ability to inspire the team maybe he’s to matey matey with the riders. It needs to change soon or it will be a hard rut to get out of......

It's funny how it's only belle vue fan raving about Worrall. Actually no it isn't. Worrall isn't In the team just for his points scoring. He is great around the pits with everyone. He scores home and away. His away form is very good for a no3/4. You never hear him moan about the state of any track. He just turns up, gets on with everyone, rides his bikes and goes home. And I can Garuntee that if he rose for your team you would be saying he would be a great miss.

You were trying to act clever by asking him how he could make a profit if one of the bet's is a loser ..he then gave you a answer .Yet again you make a fool out of yourself .

Starke for Drodz has made BV stronger for sure and they should be looking to keep him on full time. No point having a total shuffle with this one over 8 buisness, I think Hougaard for Worrall would be an adequate replacement. Lets not get carried away, Steve Worrall is no world beater! once dialled in around BV Hougaard would be just as good if not better IMO
