YERS, very much so. Before speedway found a place on TV, the vast majority of people in this country thought it had long since died. Sky brought speedway back in front of many. Admittedly, the majority didn't also visit tracks to see the sport live but you can hardly blame Sky for that. The money Sky poured into British speedway was never well spent. It largely went to fund rider payments and never to improve the infrastructure of the sport. Cannot really blame Sky for that either. British speedway had a great opportunity to build on the exposure and platform provided by Sky but didn't do so. Personally cannot see how Sky can be blamed for the demise of domestic speedway. They don't create the product.

There are many Rye House fans, myself included, who have lost our club and are devastated by this. Yet it seems to have turned into a crusade by Rob to make himself out to be the most hard done by. It’s sad. And for the record he isn’t. Those who were on the terraces EVERY week and who went away as often as they could in the name of supporting Rye House are (not counting myself as one of that number, as I wasn’t). I don’t care about crowds at Belle Vue, or how Coventry are doing at Leicester. They have their own threads. And above all else I don’t care about reading Rob McCaffrey name calling and being a big part of the reason this thread has descended because he can’t enter into a debate without making things personal as opposed to giving a reasoned answer to those who have a different opinion to him.

Getting tired of the money bags and trying to buy the league comments, where was all the support when we were rock bottom for years. Riders are contacting Glasgow for a place not the other way round, it makes a change from struggling to get anyone to come to Glasgow, a lot of jealous people out there. Speedway is dying a death and something needs to be done to stem the total collapse . The Faccennas have put money into more than just Glasgow speedway as has Grant Henderson too. Cookie contacted Glasgow looking for more rides to help his season improve, we would be daft not to look into changes after Lewis Kerr season ending injury, it is unfortunate that Richie os the fall guy. Lets get behind our team and support them. That goes for other teams too, support your team or lose it. Gosh I have supported the Tigers home and away when possible , even when we were absolute rubbish and hitting 30 away from home was something to celebrate. Let us enjoy what we have now , while we still have it.

A double headed coin and someone will call tails!!!

That is the case and the reason why we see so little of it nowadays. Modern bikes allow for full throttle on or throttle full off.

Well the bad news is the big star names are not coming back to Britain anytime soon. My point was if the racing is better then ever then where is it ? . Where can we showcase the sport, the last 2 weeks on BT sport we have had meetings from Wolves and Leicester which have been 4 hours of absolute dross. One from a track that is purpose built , one that has been there 90 years. All in the height of summer with great weather. The top league on BT is the showcase of our sport in Britain to the outside world, what must people think if they watched the last 2 weeks ,its not going to attract new fans or get old fans to return. Still in Pearson's world it was 2 great nights of speedway. People need to wake up and smell the coffee, the product is not good enough. In the top division Belle Vue is brilliant, Somerset occasionally , that's about it, all the rest poor. If that is the best the sport can show itself in the last 2 weeks then it is definitely on its way out.

Have you seen the banking on turn 2? add any more and it'll be like a wall of death!

Thing is mate if people are stamping their feet demanding replacements it needs to be somebody and I haven't seen too many names suggested so far. With averages I was thinking that one or two CL riders averages may drop a little for August meaning there may be more options open compared to now.

Back in the 70's, in my late teenage years, I used to go along to watch the Reading Racers at Tilehurst. When that closed I moved onto other interests, mostly moto cross and getting on with other things in life and a career that saw a move to Sussex. In 2004 I upgraded my TV and got a Sky subscription, and by chance scrolling through the channels, came across speedway. Remembering that it was a decent spectacle live, I recalled there being a team at Eastbourne so checked it out and have being going, through thick and thin, ever since. So, yeah, you could say Thank You Sky for getting me back to speedway. As everyone else has pointed out though, the failure to use their money wisely isn't their fault is it ?

All the clubs could have got round the table and with give and take an agreement reached on the moving of fixtures to help the Rockets. Never an option though as Buster said no. I think one or two other clubs, unbelievably were not arsed about them closing.

The rule about no GP riders in what is now the Championship was certainly written in black and white recently - in the 2018 regulations however it is nowhere to be seen! The move is still subject to approval and we will wait and see what they say.

well said Ben the fact that our club has gone (and how it has happened) is far more important than all the rubbish being spouted on here. Would like to see some discussion as to how the situation can be reversed as all the hard work getting the club back etc seems to have just been thrown away - I don't care about money/politics etc all I know is somehow the real fans of the club seem to have been taken for granted and I guess we could all see problems coming with the way things were going but didn't ever think that everything would be thrown away in 2 years. My real disappointment is that I do not see any way back for the club and as for seeing any speedway there this season there is not a hope in hell

It would just have been a"gentleman agreement" made at The AGM and depending who you are that doesn't count if you want to break it.IMO.It certainly has been mentioned before now.

I wonder who the other team was?
  15. 2 points
Could you please quote the rule book.also your quote money talks please explain Re your own team its a utter disgrace that your riders are owed money but I suppose that's okay in your eyes

2010 / 2011 was the beginning of the end of speedway in this country. The F.I.M changes in silencer regulations changed speedway bikes forever in noise and performance and rendered many British tracks unsuitable in shape, size and material to produce good speedway racing. While the throaty raw of a speedway bike was lost, also the smell of Castrol R disappeared and the atmosphere on the terraces was never the same again. The sport in Britain has plummeted rapidly ever since.

While I agree with your view, someone who uses terms like 'scum' and 'nasty idiots' to describe other posters doesn't deserve much sympathy when those others hit back.

I used to know Mc Caffery many years ago. He always struck me as a person full of his own importance who always acted as if he was an expert on all matters Speedway when in fact the reverse was true. When I knew him he dreamed of being the promoter at Rye House ( which was an impossibility then) si it does not surprise me that he had his nose put out of joint when Len Silver took over 2000 and resurrected the club. He talks utter rubbish.

Christ, another day, another Rob Mcblahblah over reaction email. You need help mate.

Clearly up to you but looks to me that Panthers have done all they could do to ameliorate a situation that we could all have done without
  21. 2 points
If they want to be at speedway they will be. If they can’t not drink for a day (irrespective of the situation) then they require medical help, as their drinking will no doubt lead to anyway at some point.

Don't forget a certain cockney gentleman who also skimmed the cream off the top of the pie!

Strange. You tell him not to rise to the posts, but don’t tell him to stop calling people scum or morons, which he generally calls half the forum!!! As far as I know there are only a couple of people who used to be here who you could rightly call scum.one,a convicted drug dealer, who is now pushing up the daisies and the other was convicted of possessing child pornography.Just because some on here don’t agree with Rob,doesn’t mean we can be called morons and there is absolutely nothing I have posted that makes me scum Bottom line is,it is a fact he goes to Rye once in a blue moon and unless Rye arrange meetings when a blue moon falls on a weekend then the likelihood is Rob won’t be there

Have ever thought of giving Simon Bates a call ? ..I think he still does our tune
  25. 1 point
SIMON!! now I've got it. The guy who, posting under another forum name , was put in his place very firmly by Jeff Davies right here on the BSF. He disappeared very quickly after that, gone for good we all thought. But no he was here all along posting under one of his other forum names, surprise surprise. It explains his attitude towards the Save Coventry Group as he is a confirmed "grudge carrier" . The guy is a loose cannon , can fall out with his own shadow, & gives me the impression that he has a mental disorder. It explains so much about what's been going on recently.
