Looking at the above posts its obvious that multiple meetings with Peterborough are not going to be popular with the fans and you can not blame them it is a ludricous situation befitting the idiots running the sport these days......

well the diamonds have Workington exactly where we want them over-confident and holding a 10 point lead from the away leg and fooled by our last visit ..... I think us diamonds will have the tie wrapped up by heat 14 .............. hey we beat the league champions by 20 points on their own turf

Disappointing to go out but having watch Ht13 again it’s difficult to stay disappointed for too long. Love the NSS and The Aces.

The nail has largely been hit on the head. Focus on the product and not the names. There si no doubt that a GP star in full flight is a fine sight to behold BUT week in week out i would rather see closely contested races with riders going to the tapes and all having a genuine shout of winning & the potential for some actual overtaking. I care not about who is involved in producing a good race as long as its a good race. The gulf in quality within teams needs to be reduced as does the gaps between teams in leagues. I like many i know want affordable entertainment simple as that.

Why can't Cook bring that toughness to the GP's?!? He's always backing out of wheel to wheel racing in the GP's, shutting off in the corners but he's proved in that race he's got it in him to push a rider hard. Bring that form to the GP's please Craig

Whoa!!! Not been picky at all. How can you publish a fixture when you haven't qualified? The KOC Semi participation isn't confirmed until both legs are run. Out of sheer common sense, you can't announce a fixture until you have qualified, it's like me saying "When are Glasgow running the Play-Off Final Home leg" IF Workington qualify then the fixtures will be announced, likewise if Newcastle qualify. These could well be agreed in principle already, but not announced. As your club are only involved in the one competition (And current form suggests to me they have an excellent chance of winning it), they simply have to now try and sort out dates between the themselves and Workington. This has been made extremely difficult due to the shambles of cancelling fixtures for the three other clubs involved in all three competitions (Workington, Lakeside, and Peterborough), whereby the KOC and Semi-Finals of the Championship Shield may well have been run if the pre-season agreed League fixtures had been kept to. In addition. there may have been instruction to run certain competitions first so to speak, as there are other clubs, like yourselves, waiting to arrange dates (Scunthorpe and Edinburgh), and perhaps their clout in saying what has to be run first, is the reason the play-offs are not first priority. I could also ask when your play-off semi is being held. October 5th, 6th, or 7th?

Not sure what you're whinging for , Glasgow aren't in any of them anyhow Fixtures are arranged around rider availability for one reason... You won't get Glasgow agreeing to the play-offs for weekend in Oct with no Cook , no difference for other teams wanting their 1-7 available for the other competitions either , throw into that other teams self interest and pulling the plug on Friday fixtures for PeterB, Worky and Lakeside so it is what it is

A think of the bend 4 falls, 2 of the falls were, Lindgren - snapped chains and, the other 2 were Wilkinson - who to be fair could fall out of bed

I totally agree with cut off dates as during August & September, the League has took priority because it has a cut off date(although this was extended) as almost all teams would. It certainly is an area that needs addressing in 2019 if the same competitions are run.

The new stadium idea has been kicking around for a number of years now, and does make a lot of sense in many ways. Both DP and Borough Park, whilst having history and 'character' are both decrepit and not fit for purpose. Not sure I would like DP as a second home Singy! A single state of the art 6000 capacity stadium with a 3G/4G pitch is the way forward would need community facilities which would ensure that it was used by more than just the football and rugby clubs. A developer however would have to be found to bankroll the project, as Allerdale will not have the funding to do so, with their financial input probably being limited to the sale of the land to the said developer. Developments of this type take years to come to fruition due to the lengthy consultation processes involved, therefore both existing grounds will be around for a while yet with THJ's assessment of 7 years being much nearer the mark. THJ has beaten me to it, as I too don't think there is anything at present to prevent football clubs having a running track around their pitch, however 3G/4G pitches are not permitted, though they have them in Scotland and elsewhere in Europe. As they are developed further things may, and probably will change as clubs, particularly at lower levels strive to make the most out of their grounds to keep themselves viable. Man Utd. played on one last night in Bern, though Jose was moaning about it afterwards - no change there! With regard to the Olympic Stadium, West Ham have installed retractable seating which covers most, but not all of the track area - they have laid artificial grass over the remainder and are presently in a battle to have it claret and not green! As a football supporter too, I am against having tracks around the pitch as it detracts from the atmosphere and match day experience. Therefore I think that speedway needs a stadium of its own and would like to think that Allerdale would look on us kindly and include the development of Northside for speedway rather than a site for 'local travellers' as part of the whole project. As others have already noted it would help our cause no end if we had more people coming through the gate, at least to match those attending the football and rugby in the town. What better time to get down to the speedway than in the next few weeks when a local team has a chance of winning a national title - not something that the football or rugby teams have done for a while

Super Simmo had an unusual start to the first time I ever saw him race live in the Wimbledon V Poole (Spring Gold Cup) match at Wimbledon in 1976 as he bike stopped I'm at the starting gate and thus retired from the race. But all of other memories of him regardless of which team he was riding for are one of his sheer excellence and skill as a rider and a rider I always looked forward to watching even in opposition against my Wimbledon team. His victory on a wet track and with the meeting not finishing until past midnight was superb. It was a shame that he never was an individual World Champion as this accolade would have been right for his skills but Wrld no. 2 isn't so bad. A true legend of the sport and this is a term that I don't use often except for riders who genuinely deserve it.

Workington are actually further on with these fixtures than Lakeside and Peterborough. One leg of the KOC Q/F has already been run between Newcastle and Workington, whereas none of the KOC Q/F legs between Lakeside and Peterborough have been run yet. Edinburgh await the winners of the Workington v Newcastle Q/F and Scunthorpe await the winners of the other Q/F. In the Shield Workington have already raced the away leg of the Semi-Final, with the home leg on Saturday, whereas Lakeside and Peterborough still have both legs to race.

Adrian Smith said in his programme notes that crowds have improved but I suspect that could just be the school holidays affect. The material difference between this year and last is the Monday race night. We must get back to racing on Fridays. You see that at many of the best Polish tracks, you have to wait for the dirt to move out to create the racing lines. I've always thought they should put on a few junior races first so that the dirt will have moved out by the time the meeting proper starts.

I wonder if Stars fans are gonna boo Iversen next time like they do Batchelor. Pulled put of a crucial cup meeting through injury, almost costing the team the meeting but managed to take 5 rides and 9 points in Sweden the next day. Pretty much the reason Batch got sacks that fateful July 2017.

Cast your minds back to the week before...Newc v Scunny, how long again to get a meeting in 6 falls for Newcastle , 2 falls for Scunny...from updates B4L1, B4L3, B4L3,B4L2 need I go on ?? Week before that Newc v Lakeside 4 falls , come on !! Bend 4 is rough at Brough.. I ain't the only one who thinks the way out is the best thing over there believe me I'm just the more vocal one Speaking to riders (not Worky's) after Sundays meeting, they don't mind a technical track just not a S... track . It's my opinion , you all have yours , so as always we will agree to disagree

You are right watching two great meeting's in the last fortnight has showed me the product is still there. What i find strange is that most of the promoters dont listen and try to give the customer what they want.Where i live there is a local shop that was took over 2 years ago if you ask the owner now that you want a pacific product he will get it in for you that is forward thinking customer service.Speedway does not deliver the basics it is falling behind and now even diehard fans who get used to the habit of not going even they are hard to entice back regularly, they pick and choose there meeting's.

I have no faith that things will improve or that the BSPA collectively ( those that vote ) are aware of the priorities that truly matter. Actions and changes that will halt the slide of supporters choosing to walk away AND marketing to begin to attract the new generation of UK speedway followers. The improvement of on-track racing so that excitement is an inherent part of the show ( for show it is ) is a vital part of that. The first play off, Somerset V Poole showed that the product can be worthy of the admission and can provide close racing, passing and thrills all the way through. Get those 15 mins of racing onto a DVD into every household in the country - perhaps via a deal with a newspaper. Yes I know, it costs money and is not seen as cost-effective, but taking no positive action on bringing the essence of speedway to people who have no idea it exists is the key. We have to offer the WOW! factor - and deliver it in the local stadium. Other meetings need to be just as meaningful. Moving towards achieving that needs to be high up on the agenda.

All i will say is there is no need for a good old jolly up in Spain somewhere in England should suffice. They need to get there heads together and try to come up with some answers thinking of us the supporter and the sport as a WHOLE.British speedway is really annoying at times they know what supporters moan about and don't like yet they do nothing about it.Two examples late starts at meetings 7.30 should mean 7.30 also meetings are not getting run slick anough dragging on and on often meaning a late finish.Fixture planning well what more can you say five weeks without a meeting yet getting to October and struggling to fulfil the fixture list.Personally i have little faith things will improve can't see it don't see anough big personalities with vision to pull things around a John Berry figure he would of been mighty handy now.

Valid point but Piccadilly Gardens (as was) these days is mostly populated by spice users, they wouldn't even know their own names.

Testimonial for Stuart Robson start of next season? Great servant to British speedway.

2 years ago it was announced that the future of speedway was promotion and relegation, last year it was fixed race nights. I suspect this year it will be something else and most of us would probably agree that the league structure needs looking at, but it will be like re-arranging the deckchairs on the Titanic if they don't seriously address issues like; track preparation, slick presentation and better organisation of fixtures. It seems ridiculous to me that after the hottest and driest summer for years that fixtures are being crammed in at the last minute and that some teams didn't complete their fixtures before the deadline.

Another busy weekend for the Comets when this Friday night the Newcastle Diamonds are back at Derwent Park in this Koc 2nd leg quarter final. At the time of writing its still in doubt whether Ty Proctor will be fit for the Comets, the last time Newcastle were at Derwent Park the Comets racked up a massive score but the racing was still good, lets hope for something similar, also a good send off to Stuart Robson a fine servant to British Speedway. If we progress in both competitions this weekend then the fixture list will become very chaotic, with Play off fixtures and the outstanding Lakeside meeting still to run...………..weather permitting!!
