    And now gives someone who could score 9 points in 20 heats- 20 points on the night. It`s does nothing to improve the GP. Previously every race counted, now not so.

    Best get all the local authorities to agree then before the BSPA are held responsible, like I said it's no good one track opening if there is no-one to race against NDL challenges will not suit every track and there is at least 1 track whose lease agreement declares it must run Speedway at the highest possible level. Realistically the only clubs that may (subject to local authority permission having been granted) be in for criticism are those who are in complete control of their facilities and choose not to implement the safety steps and avoid racing. I'm no fan of the BSPA (L) but no criticism from me on this one, operating a business involving the general public under Covid 19 restrictions is a complete nightmare at the moment and cannot be compared with pre-lockdown in any size, shape or form - Speedway as we know it will not be the same unless restrictions are lifted, try to imagine how it will be with a one way system, everyone wearing masks and gloves, keeping between 1 and 2 metres apart and then have to sanitise every surface that the public have access to after each visit, dealing with those who choose not to comply particularly when those who do are screaming at those who won't and we're only a week into compulsory masks in retail. It goes on face shields, "spit" screens, rigorous employee temperature checks, detailed risk assessment, compliance self audit and review process, staff education and individual compliance records - oh yes the local authorities are on it big time and are using go pro type body worn cameras to visi retail premises to record social distancing measures and effective risk management with the power to issue immediate cessation orders and then put the evidence before a court. Time to give the BSPA a break on this one.

    Then it's clear, if there was Speedway in Yarmouth then it could run but with no-one to race against as other local authorities haven't agreed then it's all pretty academic. How on earth the BSPA can be held responsible in the current climate I just don't know.

    Ivor Brown was one of the top riders throughout the Provincial League era from 1960 to 1964, with league averages of 9.78, 10.14, 10.21, 10.30 and 10.39. When the National and Provincial leagues amalgamated in 1965 he started the season in the same vein. Up until his awful injury in the Internationale at Wimbledon on 7th June he had ridden in 6 league matches against the ex-Nationals (2 at home and 4 away) and 10 against the ex-Provincials (6 home, 4 away). The former NL teams were generally ‘top-heavy’, with strong heat leaders and a weaker lower end of the team, whereas the former PL teams contained very few ex-NL heat leader standard riders and were more evenly balanced. By 7th June, Ivor's league average against the former Nationals was 9.44 and against the former Provincials it was 10.04, with an overall figure of 9.83. In the meetings against the ex-NL teams he had raced against Nigel Boocock, Mountford and Lightfoot at Coventry, Briggs, Broadbank and Ashby home and away against Swindon, How, Pander and Gooch at Oxford, McKinlay and Norman Hunter at West Ham, Maidment and McGregor at home to Belle Vue. The ex-PL teams he rode against included Brian Brett (Newcastle), Bob Andrews (Wolverhampton) and Ronnie Genz (Poole). This indicates that by the end of the PL era Ivor had become capable of delivering heat leader scores at the top level. Although the commuting Swedes were not allowed to ride in the BL in 1965 it is unlikely that their presence would have diminished Brown’s scoring significantly across the season, given that teams met each other just once home and away, with number one riders only programmed to meet once. Missing from 1964 were Soren Sjosten, Ove Fundin, Bjorn Knutson, Bengt Jansson and Gote Nordin. Meanwhile, Trevor Redmond averaged just under 11 for Bristol in 1960, then maintained this level in a few meetings for Wolverhampton in 1961. His average dipped a little over the next 3 years as he mixed promoting and riding, achieving 9.43 at Neath, then 8.50 at St Austell and 7.44 at Glasgow. Trevor was aged 37 when the British League started, the same age as Ivor Brown. If Trevor had focused only on riding there is no doubt he could have been competitive at the top level for a while longer.

    2 semi`s are being held in Pardubice on the same day Friday August 14th- start times 1pm and 7 pm local. I do know that Drew Kemp is one of the riders. The final is on the Sunday the 16th in Zarnovica Slovakia start time 3.15pm local

    It's just a huge financial black hole...money is expected to go in, and nothing comes out. I've still not seen or heard anything about how to claim a refund on the Wroclaw ticket that I have, and I feel sorry for those who had tickets for Vojens. BSI have made the decision and the host track are left to pick up the pieces. Hopefully all those needing refunds will get them sooner rather than later, but this is all looking rather shambolic to me. It says something when you can get a refund off Ryanair (2 refunds in fact) quicker than you can get one for a cancelled speedway meeting.

    Jeff Lloyd was born in Birmingham but to my knowledge never rode for the Brummies. He had two brothers Wally, and John (Jack) though, and both rode for the two Birmingham teams, Hall Green and Perry Barr, in the pre-war days - they were the first pair of brothers to ride in the same Southern League team - beating Jack and Norman Parker (Coventry) by just a week or so.

    How long can they delay it for. If the expected second wave arrives this winter and is still around come March, do they pull the plug on next season as well. This bug is something we might have to live with for a few years. Speedway needs to prepare itself, just like other sports have, or suffer the consequences.

    I think the the situation was when the leagues amalgamated in 1965, the riders like Redmond and Brown and a few others who had been top men In the Provincial League were “ getting on a bit”.The up and coming men were the “younger ones”likes of Hunter,Monk,Boocock,Pratt,Brett ,Wilson and Mauger to name a few who went on to better things.

    They did, I think it was Blackbird Road Leicester but not sure it really made any difference. Speedway is not a factor nor is most sport apart from say the likes of F1and Hamilton who has made a fortune from all the WASP support and now feels the need to make a stand without donating financially to the cause. It makes no difference, those who support these actions have an agenda that is so insular they will never accept the wider view. So many down trodden members of society and those that are suffering in huge numbers from a range of abuses be these racial or religious or sex or disability can garnish the support of BLM and few stand up for them in the way that the hard done by BLM movement claim is their position. The BLM is but a pimple on the arse of the world yet gains publicity from the dregs of the media who give credence to this while ignoring, not least on a numbers basis, those who are are abused and suffering in far greater numbers. The BLM movement fail to look outside the box and cannot see what is happening in the real world and yet the media across the spectrum gives them airtime. Why do they deserve it above all the other causes?

    Chris really enjoyed your presentation for Coventry Storm and also in the box was a nice change from Peter York, nothing against him but just feel his style is a little old and needed a freshen up

    The tracks that do have plenty of space for social distancing will find in the early months especially if it happens that is, that people wont want to stand in the open areas when its cold and freeze for two hours, most will want to sit in a grandstand so many may turn up get turned away from the grandstand and the next week not bother . The back straight at Peterborough and the bends at Lynn are two examples of this.
