Enjoyed both meetings, particularly the tremendous match at Leszno. Just great to see speedway back. For an opener, some of the racing was really outstanding. If there are more meetings like that, we are in for a super season.

The Toruń/Zielona Gora was a great opener but the match this evening with Leszno/Gorzow really was speedway out of the top drawer. Been a while since we saw some action like that at Leszno... what a season opener! Zmarzlik to lead Gorzow to gold?

You can cash out usually any time before the meeting starts Bydgoszcz -2 after heat 8 looks like a dead cert to me and then -4 after heat 15 looks a banker too... baring a big disaster!

Zengota over 6 seems abit risky to me, as he’s not guaranteed 5 rides as he has some tricky races. He meets Klindt twice, Gapinski twice and rides with Bellego twice and Tarasenko too.

Thanks... Will only be betting a maximum of £5 a bet for a couple weeks anyway, just until I get used to it... So it ain't the end of the world, just need to pick up a few tips here and there, will certainly make watching the ekstraliga meetings on the weekend more exciting if I've got money riding on it

So you want to click the Over 6 category which is basically saying if you put £11 on you will get a return of £21 making £10 profit. I would suggest it’s worth covering yourself on exactly 6 too, so then if he hits 6 points you will at least break even. I will add, He looked woeful the other day in the big individual meeting. Should do okay though!

They normally appear a few hours before the match. The odds for today’s Division 1 matches has just appeared on there now.

That’s very sad. Did you at least get your lollipop for being brave?

My first ever 3 in one day was King's Lynn, Ipswich and Hackney in 1976. I've also done Exeter, Weymouth and Swindon, also Reading, Rye House and Hackney, plus Peterborough, King's Lynn and Boston. My most unusual 3 in a day must be Long Eaton, Scunthorpe and Halifax in 1982 i think.

Easter Sunday comes with the news that trials will take place to see if Covid passports will work. Several big sporting events are selected for the trials including the FA Cup Final at Wembley ( so the TV news reports). But that is on May 15th with Speedway planning to open on 17th and Kents 1st meeting on 18th. Too close for comfort I think. Will see what Boris has to say on Easter Monday.

If only half the stadium is open - this will reduce the maximum crowd capacity , and pro rata reduce the maximum crowd permitted under the 50% of the max capacity rule under the Covid 19 rules for sporting events. You have to have the whole blinking stadium open to allow for social distancing , not just huddle them all together !

Could Poole use Swindon''s executive back-straight facility on loan for the season?

Well chaps Easter weekend which used to be a busy time for speedway. Years back meetings with Reading and Oxford in a three team tournament. Then home and away to Oxford on good Friday, then after losing Oxford and Reading it was then Poole home and away. I remember back in 86 we rode away at Oxford on Good Friday then onto Colchester to watch Swindon Town in the evening. Simon Garrett drove, i think Adie Fisher came and i can't remember who the other guy was perhaps someone will remind me. The pub was packed with Swindon fans. Happy days

No he will not for the same reason we did not bring back Erik Riss. His average is almost the same as Riss and we did not bring him back because his average is to high to fit into the team. Management have said they will not release (sack) any riders to fit in the last rider. Newcastle say that they have released Vissing because of the problems he will have with Covid travel restrictions flying in and out of Europe. Think there may be many clubs in the same position before the start of the season with the Covid rates in Europe at the moment.

It is clear from many postings over the years here on the forum and on Facebook pages that Kenny Carter enjoys hero worship status amongst many. Thank goodness I am not the only person who feels deeply uncomfortable by all this. According to Tony Mac’s excellent book, a close friend of Pam’s claimed that Carter regularly hit Pam and prevented her from going out and leading a normal life. So now it turns out our hero is a wife beater, a man who inflicted mental anguish on his wife and then finally a murderer. If Carter’s actions on that fateful night had come about after some blazing argument resulting in a red mist moment, it may have made this whole wretched business 1% more bearable. However we know that Carter travelled to the Huddersfield area the day before the shooting to seek out the murder weapon, eventually sourcing one on the day of the murder so he had plenty of time to consider his actions. The decision he had made, to murder his wife and devastate the lives of two young children, clearly identifies this as a premeditated and truly heinous crime. Some claim Carter had become unhinged over the years and that his actions were fuelled by his, admittedly terrible, upbringing. Some are also now tagging a mental illness spin (with no proof), on the story but listening to Carter’s many inarticulate, and cringeworthy ranting interviews on World of Sport over the years he comes across as a little more than a hot headed child and frankly, not very bright. Many people are raised in deplorable and shocking circumstances but don’t go on to murder. If you take the position that it’s possible to separate Carter’s speedway career from his personal life, then you have to ask yourself this question: Is Kenny Carter’s speedway career more important than Pamela Carter’s life? It’s interesting to speculate about what might have happened had Carter not killed himself that night. Presumably he would have spent the rest of the 80’s, all the 90’s and some of the early century in prison. Would he have been given a heroes welcome home on the day of his release? As a convicted murderer, I doubt that he could have returned to speedway in any capacity and especially now given the extremely high profile nature of the Me Too movement and the game changing outrage over the murder of Sarah Everard. Kenny Carter would today almost certainly be banished to complete obscurity, a sad old man. Would his fans still be lauding him as a hero and legend in these circumstances? But of course by killing himself Carter conveniently avoided all this, thus bestowing upon himself the status of moral coward of the very highest (lowest) order. The achievements of people such as Carter, Phil Spector, Oscar Pistorius and many others in their respective fields, will aways be there on record. Nothing can take that away from them, but what we should do is to stop eulogising them. Their crimes have cancelled their status as legends or heroes. RIP Pam
