He has indeed RR, and I have no doubt that he will do a very good job at that too. He is very excited about the challenge that lies ahead. The below is a Google translate of the Svemo article: Tony has for about 19 years in various ways had assignments within Svemo, mainly within Track Racing. Now he has the opportunity to contribute with his experiences and get to develop in a new role within Svemo. UPDATED: 21 JAN 2021 14:06 During the winter, Svemo has announced a new position where we are looking for a person who can be responsible and coordinate project and safety work within Svemo. After careful selection, they chose to appoint Tony to this position. Why did you choose to apply for this position? - For the past 43 years, I have been involved in the speedway sport, first as a driver, then as a leader which in turn led to a job at Svemo, says Tony and continues. - I am very privileged and grateful that I have had the opportunity to work full time with my "hobby" even after my active career, not many people get that opportunity but after all these years I feel it is time for a new challenge. So when the position Coordinator Project & Security was announced, it felt like an exciting challenge that I look forward to taking. What is your background in Svemo? - I started as a non-profit national team leader for the Speedway juniors in 1999, I then got a full-time position in June 2002 which I had until 2009 when I left Svemo to start working at FIM as Race Director for the Speedway Grand Prix and World Cup. In 2013, I started working part-time at Svemo again in parallel with my job at FIM, so that in the autumn of 2014 I would once again be the full-time job I have today. What are your expectations for your new assignment? - I look forward to the new challenge, I have always worked directly towards the sports business and with the new position I get the opportunity to continue working with sports, but in a different role and it will be exciting. When do you start your new assignment? - The assignment starts on March 1, but I will of course help with the Track Racing business until a replacement is in place, even if it will be a bit at half speed, Tony concludes.

Whilst Bill is fit I cannot see him allowing anyone else to run speedway.

For me it was always a flick of a coin for one of the available Aussies. Not least because of their increased track time in the past year or so. Josh MacDonald was unlucky to be cut loose by Pirates so its a great opportunity for him. Had made progress at Sheffield in 2019 so has the track knowledge already. On a 4 point averages means Lambo steps up into the main body of the team. Six and two threes though because JP & JMac should be amongst the points at reserve. Meaning that they and Lambo become interchangeable ? Auty, Lambert, Tommy, Pijper, Aarnio, Jordy and JMac it is then ? No No1 there on the face of it. Auty should have it tapped round Scunny but up against sides with two No1s its going to be tough going away. Still everyones been out for nigh on 18 months so no one really knows how well any of the riders will fair when they return to regular league racing. 2021 is at least a summer of some Speedway and win lose or draw lets be thankful for that. Just watching how we get on is going to be really interesting and especially having a true rising star in Jordan Palin in his senior league racing debut season adds that bit extra to the anticipation. Reminds me of when Kenny Carter made the step up in his first season for the Dukes ! If hes half as good we will have a rider.

Not the team we was expecting but its a team to support nevertheless, this season coming is just about getting laps in and giving us fans a chance to see rider race, at least we got that. They done the best they can in a not ideal situation, delaying the entry to the NDL and other reasons they were left to pick up the pieces FLINT - Berwick born and bread so was bound to go there BICKLEY - couldn't chance the colts not riding so had to go elsewhere FREEMAN - without Newcastle having an NDL team i'm sure he would have been in the team BAILEY - would have been in but not come over SMITH - was set to ride but had to do what's best and sign for Glasgow, to many fixture clashes PALIN - Cant ride NDL due to the rule of not being allowed to do all 3 leagues that's a big chunk of the team we still get to see riders develop (Mcgurks, JPB, Woodhull) and Coles so well done Adrian and Mark for 1, Continuing in the NDL 2, Managing to get 7 riders Kudos

Thanks for putting me right...It WAS a Midlands club. It was really quite a disgraceful move to deny the fans of a race they had paid to see.

One for the future. It’s not hard to see why the sport is in trouble in this country.

There was a mini-resurgence for the sport when Sky Sports came on board. Unfortunately, every promoter wasted the income on rider's instead of future proofing. As I've said before, the National Speedway Stadium had come 20 years to late. Had any club had the foresight back then, I'm convinced other's would have followed. The financial waste has been astronomical. There is a chance again now to try & do something about it. The pandemic has created a reset. It's critical the sport finds someone from outside to help with the rebuild, there are currently no promoter's with the mindset to do it through fear of damaging their immediate pockets.

And what's wrong with posting crap on here? There's crap posted on here everyday but you don't react to it,but you did with an 88 year old speedway enthusiast

Chris Golding used to drive him to Isle of Wight and King's Lynn too.

Yes , it is Liverpool St. Parking could be bit of a hassle at Rye House the train was not a bad bet if you were coming from Central or North London, especially if you had a few beers at the track ! I liked Rye House. The racing was usually rubbish but it was a nice little stadium to be at on a summer evening. Such a shame it’s gone.

I seem to remember seeing a study of racing drivers that showed their reactions were little or no better than the average person, and driving ability is more down to spatial awareness. Even though accidents amongst the 25 are probably more down to overconfidence and driving too fast, I think there is a significant element of needing to develop spatial awareness on the road which only comes with a few years of driving experience.

But if they had a good point at the time, but some on here wanted to believe all was rosy, when things were not, surely they have a right to point out 'I told you so'.

I knew Bryan quite well. Lakesides General Manager , Alan Sargeant used to drive him around most of the time, but occasionally he would need a lift to somewhere like Rye House, and living in Erith he would need to get a train into London then back out to Lakeside where someone would pick him up so it would mean travelling the best part of two hours to be picked up about a mile as the crow flies from his home, then still had another hour or so to get to Rye House. That’s what you call a speedway fan !

In the free world of the United Kingdom, I would like to think that people have a choice when or not to drive their vehicle. Age certainly isn't the only issue as to whether you should be driving at night. By all means introduce a compulsory eyesght test for ALL drivers periodically , rather than the present honesty system, but a blanket ban based on age alone is surely not justified. (and probably illegal under "human rights" legislation !!)

Whatever way it's dressed up, they are still charging the public an increased price for a product, the majority don't want. Delays are part of the reason crowds have declined over the years. A well run meeting, done and dusted within two hours, should be the target for all promoters.

Only my opinion, but I think the reason that Keiron Douglas' progress may have been hampered is because of his lack of track time and competitive action, only having NJL matches to ride in and no National League matches. If he's included in the Bullets team we will soon see if he, hopefully, progresses this year.

Been wrong before and will be again. One thing for certain is that i have never been so disillusioned with the sport as i am right now.

With the greatest of respect to the other's mentioned i rate keiran Douglas much higher and would be criminal if he didnt get offered a place

In addition to Mason Watson, l think Keiran Douglas should be on board. Both very local - the very type of riders the NL is designed to attract to the sport! The suggestion of Greg Blair's name is intriguing (no idea of his average) as Greg is the great-grandson of Danny and Liz Taylor, who created speedway in Berwick, 53 years ago!

Berwick upon Tweed in English and in England, and let us all be thankful for that at least.

Ordered it yesterday afternoon, it came today before 2pm.. Always liked Kelvin, even when he seemed to be less than a favourite of many of the English fans.. (Although to be fair to be him, many of the fans at that time seemed to think they were all Americans).. And for me, does a great job on the commentary with Nigel P... Not everyone's cup of tea, but who cares, they sell the sport fantastically well...

Hi Chris, thanks for your support for the Warriors and our footage. As for away wins? Well, when making the decision to put the meeting footage up, we wanted to relive the Warriors journey so far, highs and the lows, in order and without prejudice. Already we have seen an away win in one of the videos already available in fact. Even when the Warriors haven't been able to reach the scores needed for a win on the night, its clear their efforts were/are always valued, along with all of the Warriors off track team, supporters, helpers and indeed sponsors. So by putting these meetings up and reliving the journey, the highs and the lows, we hope will convey the Warrior Way, something that Speedway Portal are very proud to have been apart of from the start, and continue to be today. Can’t see that happening. Many people tried before the Hancock’s took over the whole lot. If they can’t make it pay when they own the land, the clubhouse, car park and food outlets... then nobody can.
