Yes all rounds are drawn by the FIM and will be announced on the Thursday preceding the GP.. I have covered the practice situation in 2021 in the Prague GP thread.

I have a few 'memorable' experiences of West Ham from 1965 and 1966. In 1965 I attended the league title clinching win at Cradley Heath, when the Hammers won 47-31. This was a re-arranged fixture on 23rd October after the original meeting on 21st August was farcically changed from a league match to a challenge because the track was deemed unfit for league racing after a lot of rain during the day! Then on 30th April 1966 I had to dash from an England v Scotland schoolboys international football match at Chesterfield, which finished at 4.45 p.m. to Dudley Wood for the 7.30 p.m. meeting which the Hammers won 44-33. Another meeting I recall was during the period when the West Ham team was at its peak in 1965, a 52-26 defeat at Wolverhampton in a challenge match on 1st October, a meeting arranged after the teams had drawn 39-39 earlier in the season in the league. The match was remarkable as McKinlay (5), Harrfeldt (5) and Hunter (1) were out of sorts, with Simmons topping the scorechart with 9 paid 10 from 4 rides. To be fair, if the season had started in mid-September it is possible that Wolverhampton would have won the league title. They had a run of league results that started with a 50-28 home win against full strength Wimbledon, a 48-30 win at Exeter after the challenge success against West Ham, followed by a 64-14 annihilation of Newport, a narrow 36-42 defeat at Swindon, then ending with a 56-21 demolition of Glasgow and a 45-33 win over Hackney, the latter two after heat leaderJim Airey had returned to Australia. I remember those events vividly too.

17th July was originally Cardiff GP. I believe that Leicester have tried to get a fixture but no team was willing to come.

How can they win something if they win nothing only one competition to win

That's a pity, I'm sure you would rather have been at the speedway

Very fortunate, it would have been a very long walk back to either Norwich or London, although hitching a lift was still common practice in those days. I was delayed leaving the stadium at Leicester on one occasion in the 1960s due to being engaged in conversation with Alf Weedon and ended up catching the last train, then missed a connection in Birmingham which meant being stuck there until 6.30 a.m. Happy days indeed.

I went to that as well. I don't remember seeing you there! I was at college in Norwich at the time and I hired a car and managed to persuade a few (non-speedway) friends to join me and drive across to Cradley. When we got there, we joined the West Ham supporters' section of course. After the meeting, naturally, I wanted to celebrate with my fellow supporters so I stayed with them, while my college friends, who weren't really that interested, drove back to Norwich. Fortunately, there was a spare seat on the coach going back to London, so I hopped on that. Good times!

Coming down to the Plymouth Colesium on Tuesday to support the Pirates in thier quest for league points. I am sure it won't be a easy meeting, particularly as Poole have had a victory down there in the cup and the Gladiators will be out for revenge. Hope and pray for a dry sunny evening and 15 entertaining heats.

Bates v Protor? Okay, so just two riders in the race. I'm predicting Bates to gate ahead of Proctor. Close battle for two laps, until Proctor pulls up sensing he can't win. Bates fails to spot Proctor has stopped (despite Ty waving to him from the centre green) and is determined to make it difficult for riders behind him (who don't exist). Unfortunately it becomes too much and he over cooks the last bend on the final lap and ends up on his arse. Race is awarded to whoever was sponsoring it. What do you mean taking the P155? It's speedway and could happen next week.

If you look again you will see that it was Zmarzlik who started "showing off" towards Janowski, who just resonded with the same action leading to exchange of words at the pits gate. Nevertheless he (Janowski) should not have leave victory rostrum prematurly.

can't be helped with how the team was built and Ulrich's form. Lets be honest, Bomber representing GB in a sub standard competition with bang average opposition, is hardly a good marker....

Not completely dreadful, both Starke & Heeps came from behind in heat 15 to beat the KL No 1.

What does it say to you Starboy ? . It tells me whoever picked the 1-7 is not up to the job. Be it Dale or Buster, or both. If the same people picked both his teams. The mind boggles. Why couldn't they share the riders out a bit better if that was the case.? Cook.. Good signing.......Was nothing to do with his points tally, after 2 meetings. Either his anxiety, although he carried on riding. My guess it might of been an attitude thing, which his anxiety might of contributed to a degree. You don't upset Buster. As you know. Proctor.... Not so good..... Although he was on attractive average, there was a reason for it. He was showing signs in the 2019 season, backing off down the back straight a little, allowing others past. You need to 100% mentally. I wish Ty well, whatever he decides to do. Bridger.... Disaster signing..... Like Proctor... Another on an attractive average. But the red flags must of been huge. I'm sure he talked a good comeback. Every man and his dog must of thought, no way will he last. Probably cost Buster and others a good few quid helping him with equipment. Ryan Kinsley... Didn't really get a good chance. Was a casualty of the others maybe ? Replacements ......... They haven't done many meetings to be fair. But so far.. Lawson... Would of fitted for Ty or Bridger from the start. Been fantastic.. Heeps...... Looked like he was on a moped against Ippo. Didn't go well last night in the Championship either. For a bit of a Lynn track specialist, whats wrong.10 rides/7 points. Is he still injured?? Wells..... 11 rides/9 points. Mountain.... 11 rides/4 points. What are your views Starboy118.

Eric Boocock could fit the bill for someone who retired too early ? Further to Falcace's point, you could argue no one who walks away fit and healthy from Speedway has retired too soon.

I've spoken to Ian Cartwright on a number of occasions when visiing "Mouseman" at Kilburn and the intention was always that he would eventually take over the family business after he achieved what he hoped for in speedway. His father was also a keen motorcyclist and of course Ian's son rode before also entering the family business. "Mad" Malcolm Ballard? Attained a high average on his initial season at Arlington and bettered it on his second. Achieved a decent average at Oxford in 1973 when moving up a league but after asking for a transfer he moved to Poole and then quickly on to Leicester in 1974 and retired well before the season ended.

If you cant see how poor the sport is in Britain now from 20 years ago you are just as deluded as the people running the show.

I can't resist...........I've said this a million times to anyone that will listen but here I go again League Speedway needs to be promoted with professionalism and taking itself seriously as a sport to attract new committed partisan supporters of local clubs. I DO NOT LIKE Speedway being promoted as a sideshow, you get the picture "extreme sport - no brakes" type of thing. That is not sustainable. It should be a serious sport. If it's a sideshow, people come along like they would to a 'monster truck' show then they've seen it once, the racing thrill soon wears off if they have nothing to support and they don't come back. A cultural phenomena that has really taken hold over the past 20yrs is more and more people getting into supporting a football team, wearing the merchandise and 'belonging' to a club. People will even wear team colours of sports teams from other countries. Put on a decent presentation (which doesn't cost money) and promote the sport as though it means something as a sport and not just a spectacle. And any 'promoter' who doesn't put some signposts up around the town or try to get the team into local newspapers/tv/radio should be shot! The general quality of UK league speedway PR is horrible
