You could say this for most, if not all the tracks in the country. 99.9% of fans are fine and you can have a decent conversation with them and enjoy the banter, but you still have that 0.1% who (usually) have "one over the eight" and cause you grief. Rather than cause trouble, unfortunately, the only option is for you to move to another part of the track. I must say though in all the years of travelling away to support the Diamonds, it's never come to that, but I know it's happened to others, even at Brough Park.

I shan't set foot on the STMP again. In 50 years of watching speedway it's the only place I've felt uncomfortable, especially with my daughter. I don't go anywhere to be heckled by idiots, and as Redcar is the only place that has happened, I'll give it a miss.

Before the lockdowns, we used to stand in the 2nd temporary stand with some Redcar supporters and had some great 'debates' and laughs together. Usually stand in the gap in front of the refreshments bar now, and that's because we meet other Diamonds fans and with Bears fans. Usually if you give it back respectfully, you can get a great atmosphere. I feel quite at home at Redcar, but last year we had someone cleaning the refs windows during a meeting, now there's a first. Wonder who he was ?

Really? That's a very bizarre comment to make! I'm still on here, despite Wimbledon closing. So is iris123. And cityrebel. And Robbie B. Come to think of it, MOST of us who are on here have lost our tracks, yet it's no cause for us to leave the BSF.

As topic title. This is great news! CHAMPIONSHIP STREAMING GOES LIVE! - Thursday, January 27, 2022 (britishspeedway.co.uk)

Not if it's another substandard Dane whose domestic commitments will mainly be Division 1 matches on a Saturday (like Agertoft)

With Swindon not riding, and with Oxford in the Championship, this might be good for me. I would prefer it, however, if clubs did their own streaming on a pay-per-view basis so that it's easy to pick and choose matches with all revenue going directly to the clubs.

That's what I first thought...but Roger's mentions it in his latest statement, so I'm just making assumptions (as usual) I think your shout about 'Kelleher' could be right though?

Great idea watched a few live streams last season means supporters can watch their team away from home if it's to far to travel.

Yes, should bring some decent nostalgic support along. Promising update from LR yesterday regarding 2 of the 3 remaining possible signings. Plenty of time to go yet and sit and see who is available in a month or so when it will be a buyers market as demands for silly money turn to panic about not having a team place!

Could. be done very, very easily and with little to no expense.

Must just be ‘cos you’re a Geordie Our Sunday meeting there just last year couldn’t have been any better an atmosphere where we stood… and that included the Redcar fans saying we deserved more then we got that day!

I don't have any particular Sandor story or even memory. I only saw him a coupleof times . But he is definitely one of those in the category that i was surprised later to learn that he was such an accomplished rider before i had seen him. No bad thing, as he is in good company with the likes of Hurri-Ken McKinlay Obviously a fascinating story of his time in Hungary, which having the Who's, who of world speedway has a fairly decent section on his career. The Honved Budapest club where he started out, still remaining something of a mystery to this day

That makes the event less attractive. Places would be empty if there's meetings where the No2/No4 & No6 race. . It has to be fixed to be a pairing from the top 3 in the team averages otherwise there's just going to be no interest at all to attend.

Spot on assessment mate and a rider and family who are 100% committed. Well deserved in my opinion

That's because he's the British youth champion, surely that would more than meet any criteria required to be part of these things.

Why do you do this John, you answer your own question with an article YOU wrote....... You really do ask for some of the "Flak" you get.

Track work starts this Wednesday and the drains are being updated and cleaned out and some more of these were done today along with a variety of other jobs . The air fence had to come down as there will be a new one for the season and the kickboards are in the process of being painted . Was good to see a few new volunteers there with most of the regulars.

I remember seeing 3 Norwegians in the wasps colours ed strangleland, einar egedius & reidar eide. Ed was a entertaining rider from my memory, einar I think married a Newport girl but it was reidar who I remember most fondly he was in I believe the best team Newport ever had in 1975 he also rode in 73 & 74. One race inparticurlrly recall is a golden helmet race against ole Olsen I think in 73 where he brought the house down at Somerton park by blasting by ole to lift the helmet, great days.

Sverre Harrfeldt is undoubtedly the best Norwegian rider world speedway has seen. Barry Briggs fans would disagree but there were times in 1966 (when he finished up runner-up to Briggs at the World final) when he was just about unbeatable. I do realise that the period from 1970 to 1989 will be covered in the article in Backtrack but Leif "Basse" Hveem's achievements prior to this time surely deserve a mention. In his career he won the Nordic Championship 13 times (8 long track and and 5 speedway) plus 21 Norwegian Championships (11 long track and 10 speedway). As this site's self appointed South African correspondent,I should mention that he suffered an horrendous accident in Durban in 1955 that nearly ended his career but recovered to win both the Norwegian and Scandinavian Championships the following year. Basse died in 1964
