  1. I dont care how you spell my name as i have been called so many names in the past its hard to find out which is the correct one Any way first of all i like to wish you all a Happy Xmas and New Year, I have had a meeting at the Centre and they have told me i can take the 7th December 2008 but i would like to take the 6th witch is a Saturday, they cant confirm that until mid Jan 08. They also told me that i need to up the attendance to make it pay for the Centre so thats a big task but if i cant up it in 2008 then there will be no action in 2009. Thats a bit hard from the Centre after 11 years. So if any of you have some good ideas or would like to contact me finding a way to reach all the supporters clubs to attract more people then i only be too happy to listen. Also i have managed to take away the booking fee from ticket master so thats a saving for everyone already. So lets see if we can make it a good one in 2008, Happy New Year to all Regards Martin Dugard
  2. Not an Easy one but means using the under 15s will make Robs trip home a little later? so it looks like November 29th or December the 6th ?
  3. Still 2 meetings but on a saturday but more at the end of novermber early december is my choice at the moment i have a meeting with the Brighton Centre on Tuesday so i got to make my mind up by then.
  4. Hi Rob i understand what you are saying not only do you have to get home the delay is also at my end to get the track out the building. I agree with you Ed should have been out on the 2nd time of the re run. Ok back to the indoor as i have to look at it to get more people in to make the event run, I understand that this year the whole of speedway crowds was down, Do you think a saturday night would help? I got no complaints about the programme that was £1 less then last year, Charlie fox seemed to be a big hit for the kids so thats another great thing. But overall do you think a Saturday night will be better. We cant change the start times for the fact that people have to get to the centre, parkiing will always be a problem as its in the city centre. So lets hear what you have to say about the event to improve it as i can only try it because i only have a few years left to be honest only 3 meetings to get it right . Regards Martin Dugard
  5. Hello thanks for the reminder of the foot, Still big and fat and swollen oh thats what its always looks like. Still not able to walk on it as yet but if its no better by friday then it will have to be a trip to hospital. To be honest i didnt want to spend xmas in a plaster cast but thats racing all in the aid of fun. But did you hear me moan? Just a little message to all the people that came to the indoor have a great Xmas and new year. quote=Sandie,Dec 12 2007, 10:13 PM] Martin - It was a great day out and it was fun. And I agree with Sue - treat it like the pantomime - oh yes it is!!!! And in truth the only anoying part was the Kennett 'is God' picture!!! Kev is one of the best commentators around and is obviously 'slightly' biased. But better that then Yorkie!! But more importantly than anything else - how is the foot? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  6. I think your all missing the fun of xmas and a fun meeting.
  7. Thank you for your feedback i agree with some of the things you have mentioned, The format was going to be changed but by the demand of the public with the emails it was by far the best way to go with the pairs in the Afternoon, but as i can tell that its not eveyones taste. I was also very dissapointed by the low number of stands downstairs i think it needs looking at maybe have a day where there is a clearance sale for all track shops free of charge but this part of the event is run by the Speedway star. maybe we need a speedway show at the end of the year at the Centre its free as i hire it for the day so i wont charge them to use it and it would make the event much more of a day out. I would be happy to put the big names in but if they tell you they are too worried about getting hurt thats not the same answer they gave me so does that make the boys who want to ride at brighton a better rider or does that show you they are there to entertain you all because they are not frighteded to have a go? I would rather watch Henka entertain the crowd then someone who want just to ride around at the back to make the numbers up. Full credit to all the guys who rode on sunday with the entertainment factor much better then in years before. Also as you said the crowd was down on last year well i dont want to keep knocking you but your wrong unless the Brighton Center have added more people on the gate as an Xmas present for me! As for kev on the mic i think your right he is a true Eastbourne fan and he should keep it to himself at a meeting like Brighton. As for Ed in the Rerun he should have been taken out on the second attemp but the ref never did it and the crowd didnt want it so whos fault is that? Also if Ed was kicked out when he should have been, you would have a new brighton champion which would have been much better for me on the day a new champion new face, This was never going to happen as Eds class and determination showed. As for big names again it proved to have a fantastic meeting thats only a bit of fun you dont really need them. As you are aware for someone like myself who has spent hours of my time and £1000's to get the event up and running i will stand up for myself but during all the time i was planning riders there was only 1 rider who helped me put the track in the centre and also worked to the track out and gave me a good guide on riders who would be an entertainment for the fans and that was Ed. He has been a true mate and i am sure with out him it would have been a struggle for me. Next year rob i would be happy for you to help me put the track in we would only work 50 hours out of the 70 hours to sort everything track in track out. So lets see how you would make it work. I have made an offer for you to help so feel free to contact me and i will sort it out. You see what effort goes in to make the event work. Then lets see if you knock it? Regards Martin Dugard
  8. Hi just for the record the track is measured 1 meter off the white line as it says in the rule book. Total length was 80.2 meters so we call it 80 meters.
  9. Hi all again, Update on the Indoor with some good news & some bad news. Bad news first. We received a text yesterday to say that Mr Gomolski has injured his knee while in the gym, he says it is extremely swollen and may need an operation. we have spent most of yesterday and today calling riders to obtain a replacement. unfortunatly with little success as its so late nearing the date. Good news, we now have a new meeting reserve Jordan Frampton which means Tommy Allen will now replace Gomolski in the line-up. with regards Martin
  10. Tickets are on sale on the day of the Event if you pay on the day you dont have to pay the booking fee. Hope to see you all on Sunday.
  11. Hi to all again, The Under 15s will return in the future. Regards Martin Dugard
  12. Thanks for your input we all learn from feedback as to what people want: The line up is not that bad its a bit different to what you would normally expect but you have to look outside the envelope, Ricky Wells is the biggest thing in the USA at the moment never seen in the UK, The rest of the so called poor line up are made up of the main England Squad. David Howe was going to come but after a practice last week is still unfit and will need an operation possibly. As for Mr Nicholls he is at the BBC sportsman of the year awards otherwise he was due to come to the event. As for Mr Pedersen he is on holiday after being the world champion and all he can have a holiday. But he has promised me that he will do the event before the Centre will close in 2009. I went down the list of all the GP riders and asked them if they are avalible for the meeting and they all came back and said they were busy that day. Ie Greg Hancock and his partner have just had a baby. ect, ect, ect, You dont need GP stars to make a good meeting you need riders who want to race and enjoy to ride who's primary insentive is not money but to entertain. You have to understand all the top riders have had a hard season and would like a break away from the sport and holiday or just time to relax with their famlies. Sorry but there is no under 15 racing this year. Regards Martin Dugard
  13. Parking for 2008 Well maybe i should get a parking spot as first prize for the raffel in 2008 but i think i will stick with the nintendo wii, I know you lot are more excited about the parking spot i can tell. Martin
  14. Hi all, Parking is not a problem as there are lots of carparks next to the Brighton Center but they are expensive. Best way if you have never been to Brighton before is to follow the signs to the centre of the city from the A27 or A23 till you get to the sea front. you should come at a round about next to the palace pier "thats the good one". Turn right at the round about so the sea is on your left and at the second set of lights turn right up west street to the car parks the Brighton center is the big building on the corner on the seafront you cant miss it . Big carparks are behind the Centre also under the Thistle hotel and along the seafront past the pier. Free Parking,. If you dont mind a walk then head east at the round about to the marina park in the carpark there as its free and either catch the park and ride bus to the city or walk along the coast it takes about 15- 20 mins to the Centre from there.
