Speedway Star Revamp 2 Months On

I too dislike the revamp and end up reading less with the stories all over the place,. As to the Grand Prix it is true that as the series goes on there are so few potential winners, but I think better previews are in order. As to the writers 20-30 years ago writers like Dave Lanning, Bob Radford, Martin Rogers and Peter Oakes - to name just four - were very involved in the sport and knew their stuff, writing with a more knowledgeable approach. Only Editor Richard Clark is in that league today. Paul Burbage is sometimes pretty good but Brian Burford often sends me to sleep as does Neil Evans. Please Mr Rising put all the Belle Vue stores together and so on in the EL, PL and NL sections. The new format is a bit disjointed, but still thanks for the magazine. Frankly the magazine is better than the sport warrants.
  3. Took this from the Swindon webpage, the fixtures section. Please note that the fixtures and dates below are subject to change at short notice. All home matches start at 7.30pm (parade 7.20pm), unless otherwise stated. Does your local club start its fixtures on time? I froze waiting at Swindon recently, and while not blaming Patch and Rosco for the weather, they always seem to start late. And they can't claim big queues outside waiting to get in. I'm sure this is the same with many clubs, and even when rain is threatened they seem incapable of getting a move on. Promoters please note!

    Issue 23

Tony The best issue for a while. Excellent piece on Erik Gundersen and the articles on Bob Kilby and Pete Smith were terrific, plus John Berry's Wimbledon history. Well done!
