Don't think that you understand the libel laws very well - obviously you cannot libel anyone who is dead ... but those living can be libelled, even by a dead man, and sue the a**e off anyone who repeats those libellous comments.

Surely part of the fun when watching the Sky transmission of Cardiff is to see how many times Greeney gets told to f*** off, really this was quite mild compared to last year when it appeared that no-one wanted to talk to him. And another thing - having the two pit reporters just shows up what drivel Sophie Blake asks - perhaps she should stick to modelling for porn magazines as that rambling interview with Nicholls was toe-curling. At least JG asks questions that have to be answered. One point for riders though - if they really find the TV so intrusive then ban them from the pits altogether. Just remember that they may retaliate by making sure that sponsors logos are obsured from their broadcasts, or withdraw their money altogether

Once English footy goes Cardiff's not left with much - rugger, few Welsh footy internationals, some concerts - and a huge debt to pay back. Might even be in a position to get it a bit cheaper or even on a different date as one of the stadium's major users PS Why not Hampden for a European Grand Prix, Glasgow's just as good a weekend out and Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berwick and Workington could come up with something special to go around it

Jimmy .. badly injured when he clashed with Bradford's Dave Baugh on the back straight at Shieldfield (some, including me, would say the youngster got fenced for having the audacity to try and pass an old hand). When he came back he had throttle and clutch on same side ... never really worked too well because the mechanics (physics rather than men/women in greasy overalls!!) of it don't really work. Shame, he was a promising young rider

Elizabeth Taylor (Mrs T) and son Ken who kept Berwick going for a decade or so and also dabbled at Newtongrange and Sunderland. Don't think people realise how small a town Berwick is (around 25,000) and to get crowds of 2-3,000 was quite some achievement.

... two mammoth southern tours in the 70s with five of us crammed into a Transit van with two settees and various sleeping bags acting as hotels. Both set off from Darlington tour 1 Saturday- Canterbury Sunday - Eastbourne Monday - Exeter Tuesday - Weymouth Wednesday - Poole (last two may have been other way around, memory fails!) Thursday - Wimbledon Friday - Hackney Saturday - Berwick Tour 2 took place three weeks later (had to pop back to college for exams) Sunday - Scunthorpe (off day to make up for postponed meetings) Monday - Reading Tuesday - Crayford Wednesday - Poole Thursday - Wimbledon Friday - Peterborough Saturday - Cradley Happy days, long gone. Always enjoyued the southern tracks, they got me used to the super-slick raceways we enjoy today

Sorry but the better the riders then the less chance of mistakes being made and so the less chance of overtaking - regardless of the quality of the track. It's not a new phenomenon in speedway, it's not even unique to our sport. Formula 1 is not the most exciting form of motor racing ... it is simply where the best riders race. GP speedway is no different. Ivan Mauger didn't win six titles because he was the greatest racer but because he consistently came out of the second bend ahead. Peter Collins won only once because he didn't, Mark Loram has the same problem

Chris Morton, Peter Collins, Mark Loram, Joe Screen - riders I would pay lots of money to see race. As a previous poster pointed out mecahnical geniusses can make contendors out of very ordinary riders but the faster they go the slicker and smoother tracks need to be for safety reasons. I'd rather watch a racer like Mark and any of the above ploughing through mounds of dirt in a bid to overtake than the "missed the gate why bother" merchants who are taking over the sport
