  1. I don't know if you've noticed, but, generally speaking, crowds are poor in all three leagues.
  2. Lemo explained on his Facebook status that the rule has changed for this year. Beforehand it was just the riders, now it includes the managers (of which Lemo is the only one!), that once you have signed in at the SWC you can't ride anywhere else while still involved in the competition.
  3. If I remeber correctly, Proctor took ages to get a 'proper' average, due to call offs etc., but can't remember when he actually got one and after how many meetings.

Newcastle Vs Rye House 27/07 14

Don't think William Hill would allow it, due to the Dog track
  5. We might scrape a point for a narrow defeat. What has the track been like the last few weeks? Last time I was there it was bare as a badgers bum.
  6. He gets a 'proper' average on 1st August (9.06). His original 11.18 average is classed as a 'converted' average, rather than an 'assessed' average, apparently. I thought it happened a couple of years ago when he rode for Newcastle? Could be wrong though!

  8. I think you know exactly what I meant . How do Redcar get a facility, when I'm pretty sure in the past, no facility was made available?
  9. R/R for Lemo!!! How does that work then? http://www.redcarbears.co/july-2014-news.html
  10. R/R for someone who isn't injured (unless you know otherwise ) but managing the Aussies in Poland?
  11. R/R for Lewi K. Craig Cook for Danny King. Will Mark Lemon be riding for the Bears, or a NL guest?
  12. I am sure Laura and the Promotion are absolutely "delighted" in having to pay Sheffield's expenses (twice, as they will have to pay the expenses for the re-arranged fixture), Rent of the stadium, Ref's fees etc., etc., and having no or little income for the next home match.
  13. If they had failed to provide medical cover twice, both meetings would not have started. The Edinburgh match started and, indeed, reached a conclusion. It was not entirely Workington's fault that the nearest ambulance to cover after Howarth's accident was over an hour away.
  14. Other than being 'medical' related, they are both different: http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.25619 http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.26315
  15. According to some, they want to see 'the top stars' riding, and they won't go unless the 'top stars' are on show. So, by these 'top stars' cutting down on the 'globetrotting' you can almost guarantee that Britain will be the first they will cut down on (most already have, no Hancock, Holder, Nicki P etc.), therefore reducing the crowds even further.

    Rye V Newcastle 2nd August.

I've just read last night Raceday Magazine and in George's column he was saying that "at this stage it is impossible to say whether we will have Danny back for that match so another guest will have to be on standby for that meeting." So it sounds as if the postponement was Uncle Len's doing.
  17. This might confuse everybody! According to the BSPA website Castleford met Redcar in the Northern Junior League on this date!! Castles Danny Phillips 3 3 3 = 9 Sam Darroch 1 1 1 = 3 Kean Kldracing Dicken 2 2 2 = 6 Harry McGurk 0 0 1* = 1+1 Cubs Ben Basford 2 2 2 = 6 Josh Embleton R 0 0 = 0 Kyle Bickley 3 3 3 = 9 Carl Basford 1 1 0 = 2 Heat 1 Phillips, B Basford, Darroch, Embleton ® 4-2 4-2 Heat 2 Bickley, Dicken, C Basford, McGurk 2-4 6-6 Heat 3 Phillips, B Basford, Darroch, Embleton 4-2 10-8 Heat 4 Bickley, Dicken, C Basford, McGurk 2-4 12-12 Heat 5 Phillips, B Basford, Darroch, Embleton 4-2 16-14 Heat 6 Bickley, Dicken, McGurk, C Basford 3-3 19-17

    Rye V Newcastle 2nd August.

No I didn't. What I said was, they (should have) knew the World Cup was on and had plenty of time to re-arrange the speedway fixture but left it late to do so. There is a difference. Rye House also knew the SWC Final was this weekend and either should have said (a lot earlier), either "we won't run on that Saturday," or, "We definitely run that Saturday (weather permitting)."

Newcastle Vs Rye House 27/07 14

I asked George tonight and, apparently, Kingy is on a converted average (rather than an assessed average), so his 'proper' average will come into effect on August 1st. Had he been on an assessed average (like a new Dane, Swede, Pole or whatever that would come in on a 7.00), it would have taken effect after the Sheffield match. Hope that clears that one up!! Best wishes to Lewi Kerr on a speedy recovery.

    Pool Of Ideas

Picking up on some of those points: Agree about the Golden/Silver Helmet. Once a month defended against the the rider with the highest average at the end of the month (i.e The riders average for that month only, not rolling average etc.). Newcastle had a billboard near St James' Park footy ground (which is also next to a Metro Startion), not sure that brought in many extra punters. The cost of that could be prohibitive to some clubs, though. Proper promotion/relegation won't work, simply due to the financial clout of going up. If Birmingham, Peterborough and Ipswich couldn't hack the EL (and Eastbourne are said to be in trouble), what chance many PL teams lasting? I'm not too fussed about a Prog. to be honest. I'll buy one, but if it's just a race card (like Somerset and Sheffield used to do), then that's fine too. Don't quite agree with the Scunthorpe £1 for two A4 pages stapled together, though. Either give it away free, or do it properly and charge £2/£2.50. Finally, totally agree about the 'event.' Clubs are basically wanting people to turn up, see 15 heats of speedway and go home. There is nothing else to turn up for (apart from seeing mates etc.). Speedway is dying on it's a*se. It needs to re-invent itself. Go back to basics. Cut costs. Lower admission prices. Make it special. Then it might have a chance of survival, otherwise it will die.
