Mr C replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Live about 7 miles south of scunny. No rain at all so far today -
Looks like Ryan is sorted for start of the season - http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Rob-Godfrey-Scunthorpe-Scorpions-riders-number/story-20772791-detail/story.html

Team taking shape. I reckon it could be:- Mellgren 7.33 Birks 7.30 Auty 7.24 Howe 6.34 Jorgensen 6.15 Douglas 5.03 Greenwood 3.00 Would be very happy with that.

Anders Mellgren Is Scorpions' New No 1 Announced on scunny web site

Very happy with that line up. Don't know anything about Ryan Douglas but adds to the asset base and sounds like a good prospect. Should make for another great season at the EWR.

Good (and unexpected) point for Scunny. -
Scunthorpe V Edinburgh (play-offs) - Sunday, Sept 30th (5pm)

Quick weather update for those thinking of travelling from afar. I am about 7 miles south of the track - it has been dry all morning, cloudy and breezy so looking good. Should be a cracking meeting - really looking forward to it. -
World Cup Final 14th July
Mr C replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Watched it with a friend who had not been to a live speedway meeting for over 10 years and watches occasionally on TV. His comment at the end "Joker? This sport is a joke". Says it all really - no wonder the sport is dying despite Sky trying to hype it up. They (the rule makers) are making a mokery of a sport I love. Well done Denmark - the best team won despite the stupid rules. -
Rob made comments in the local paper - http://www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk/Saints-Team-likely-disbanded-end-campaign/story-13610261-detail/story.html but it sounds a bit more promising now - http://www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk/Scunthorpe-Saints-National-League-year/story-13677665-detail/story.html

Taken from Scunny web site:- The Scorpions meeting at Glasgow on Sunday (9th October) starts at 1.30pm whilst the next speedway action at the Eddie Wright Raceway is on Tuesday night, (11th October, 7.30pm) when the Jotun Paints Saints hope to make it into the National League Title Playoff Final at the second time of asking. Last Thursday’s second leg of the semi-final at Sheffield was rained-off but just five points behind from the first leg (41-46) the Saints will be hoping it is second time lucky against the Belle Vue Colts. Should the Saints be successful the home leg of the final against Mildenhall is expected to be Friday 21st October (7.30pm)

Easter Monday Double Header (2nd Part) - Scunthorpe V Kings Lynn 25th April 5.30pm
Mr C replied to Scunny Stag's topic in National League Speedway
I'm pretty sure the double headers used to start at 3pm but the track turned into a dust bowl so they pushed the start time back to 5pm. It was later yesterday (5.30pm) to allow people to get from Scunny United's home game to the speedway. To be fair, even when the start time was 3pm a large proportion of the crowd still went after the PL fixture. -
That's how I see it. Just appears that Scunny will be producing future assets for Sheffield.
-
If you have that rule I would be very surprised if Scunthorpe would run a team
