  1. Exactly, I'm sure Phillips is just the most recent in a line who have displayed this, you have to be so careful in what you say and how you word things in businesses that rely on people through the door to survive and Speedway all too often has been lacking in this department, such things could easily have some who might be tempted to see what it's all about saying "stuff this, others attractions are more appreciative of my leisure spend"
  2. To be fair, a lot of negativity in statements, even to the point of calling fans Sewer Rats on Twitter meant a lot of people stopped going on principle, granted we might have ended up in this situation anyway, but Phillips made a bad situation even worse by putting his mouth ahead of his brain, many companies would sack their PR guy if some of the things that have come out of the Brummies management came out of their company. If your going to bite the hand that feeds you, you can't complain when the dog dies of starvation, I'm certain a number would return for a new promoter with the cause of many grievances gone.
  3. Although Mole wanted to move on, he never gave any indication of impending doom and that things were that bad.
  4. That would be a problem as current PP only allows for one meeting a week apart from exceptional circumstances.
  5. Don't get me wrong, what I mean is your likely to get more of the non hardcore fans to put money in if you can prove who the money is going to and what they are owed, after the winter of discontent, there's a lot of mistrust about the club which possibly contributed to this situation, in winter when the revolving door of departures was going on we had endless rumour and counter rumour, story and counter story, Phillips said this, Drury did that, Morris didn't like that person and the Commercial Manager was not friends with that guy etc, etc, to the extent we didn't know who to believe anymore, so generally took everyone statement from then on with a bit of suspicion. Long story short, I think people need proof the money will go to something worthwhile and not into someone's pocket, if you could provide that, then I am hopeful a decent amount can be raised.
  6. Depends who the monies going to I'd say, a bit more clarity about who is owed what woulden't go amiss for such an idea, at this stage I woulden't give anyone associated with AP 10P for a last phone call.
  7. Correct me if wrong, but doesn't the GRA insist on one to push their mediocre, overpriced food ?.
  8. Lynn aint had a big gap in running that a generation and a half have missed, so we're more comparable to Leicester than Lynn. I think Speedway can prosper in Brum, but it'll take years before it's sustainable by anything like Lynn's level, we need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and making decisions that turn off what people we have as has been done far too much in recent years, we need a positive and welcoming to newcomers outlook for the club and not to complain and claim we're all doomed when that doesn't produce overnight results (how many people has this outlook from AP turned off I wonder). No one under 35 has any recollection of speedway before now in Birmingham, getting them in and keeping them coming will take some time to achieve, it's doable, but an owner has to be realistic about that and have patience rather than all now now now, because it just won't work in this situation, AP was a bit naive in this respect about what was required in my opinion, I don't doubt he started out with good intentions, but the execution and ability to deliver it was somewhat lacking.
  9. Woulden't your performance at work be likewise if you thought you'd be out of a job possibly the next day ?, no Brummie rider is deserving of any flack in the circumstances.
  10. Offers alone are only half a fix, some shocking PR statements, lack of advertising and not much sponsorship chasing as previous seasons have done as much damage as prices and quality of racing to turn people away. To be blunt, I'm not sure the Phillips regime presented enough of a welcoming and positive front to supporters and sponsors, all too often biting the hand that feeds it followed by far too many negative statements, has felt like the club has been under a permanent cloud the last 18 months with no sign of it lifting, that whole atmosphere needs to change.
  11. I think it's for the best long term, I didn't see much of a future under Phillips, while one under different stewardship is far from certain, a chance at one has to be better than the slow death we were heading for with the status quo.

    Birmingham 2014

While I'm disappointed to miss out on a potential asset, I can't blame Phillips if we were constantly going to be dictated to by Polish loonies when he may or may not ride.
  13. And some wonder why Poole fans get such a bad press, you'd think people would learn after making such comments and dropping points like muppets first time round.

    Brummies V Belle Vue 11/6/14

TBH Cook seems to be going the same way as Barker, stagnating D/U rider who seem incapable/unwilling of making the step up to full time EL and riding abroad.

Which Clubs Allow Fans Into The Pits?

Likewise Brum is if you get down early enough but deffo shut after 7.
  16. TBH, I can understand our fans staying away with the alleged team we have put out, but KL should be turning up every week regardless of opposition currently, your sweeping all before you and should be nailed on for a title, short of the usual Sky/Poole fix, what more do you want ?.

Birmingham V Swindon Mon 2nd June

I'm no great fan of Morris, but he's a competent enough EL second string, it is strange he can't get to grips with PB though as it's not like introducing a Pole to Eastbourne.

Birmingham V Swindon Mon 2nd June

Oooopss, to be fair Jim was the only official I saw or seemed to be mentioned, still shocking decision mind.

Birmingham V Swindon Mon 2nd June

Jim Lawrence needs a trip to specsavers for that one, ridiculous decision to exclude Barker. Frustrated that the weathers denied us 3 points really, but not sure what else the ref could have done.

Think Starke will nullify him, he's been doing pretty well at PB recently.

New Riders Available To The El?

Still got the Jesper Jensen fetish I see...

Birmingham V Swindon Mon 2nd June

Even as a excited Brummie I find that statement ridiculous, Kildemand owns the outside line at Perry Barr, what I'd give to have him for one season.

    Eastbourne V Leicester 31/5

Blackbird is doing well, but Kerr is the stand out reserve so far this season for me, could be something special if he keeps up that rate of progress.

    Eastbourne V Leicester 31/5

What do you expect when you introduce NL kids to the Eastbourne triangle for the first time ?, their track baffles enough proper EL riders.
  25. I know heat 13 never usually looks like that, but really the rulebook needs a good rewrite if such a disparity of talent can still happen. Can't believe how poor he's looking TBF.
