Newcastle Diamonds V Glasgow Tigers
jgl07 replied to Tsunami's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
To be honest, Big Lee has not looked up for it since the match at Armadale on June 4th. I don't know if the drop to reserve will do his confidence any good. He doesn't seem able to beat opposition reserves at the moment. -

Very mysterious. Conspiracy theories could run riot with this one! -

Glasgow have previous for this. Didn't their former promoter (Dougie Hope?) do a runner with the original Scottish Cup after Glasgow won it in 1995? -
A good job you have those floodlights then.

On the home track advantage arguement: had the 4TT been held at Armadale is there any doubt who would have won? You could use the same logic for a 4TT held at Berwick or Redcar. Newcastle maybe we are taking things too far? For me the demise of the 4TT qualifiers was the big loss of teh Speedway season. Friday at Armadale, Saturday at Berwick, Sunday at Glasgow and Monaday at Glasgow was near perfection for a long weekend. If there was a four team out of five rule applied Workington could be incorporated into the qualifiers. There was always great support, superb atmosphere. Bring it back with the finals at a neutral (EL) track Peterborough or Wolverhampton. -

So you can knock an oppenent off with impunity knowing that you will get in any rerun. That must rank as the daftest proposal for some time. -

Not true. It used to involve seven teams in the classic pairs format. I recall going to Newport in 1999 when it was run under that format. James Grieves apart from a diabolical exclusion in his first heat went through the card. Edinburgh came nowhere as Kevin Little was injured early on. -

Need you ask? The Diamonds haven't really got a power packed top two this season. -

No doubt the 'make the rules up as you go along' committee will come up with another mystifying formula for the mickey mouse cup. -

With the best will in the world, which of the current Glasgow team could be included? I am sure that a fit Shane Parker would have been one of the first names on the sheet. The alternatives: Trent Leverington (GSA at Armadale including bonus 3.68), Robert Ksiesak (4.73), Josh Grajczonek (2.40), Mitchell Davey (2.00)? The best bet appears to be Lee Dicken (4.90). I doubt if Anders Andersen would be any better. Besides Glasgow's number one Carl Stonehewer is riding. (Sorry forgot he's Edinburgh's number one as well!).
