Um.. speedway.
Big mountains in Scotland/Lakes/Snowdonia.
Love walking South West coast and Dartmoor.
Live music - anything from Muse to Capercaillie.
1. They used Hysteria by Muse as an intro couple of weeks ago - unsure of exact date - but could well have been what you were appreciating.
2. Sadly, not risking it. Can't believe it will be on realistically.
3. Why is Cory Gathercole not included in the Aussie side, as a Somerset rider?
4. Bryn - if only you were from Devon; as Nevs had turned our offer down, we could have offered a possibly more comfortable lift (leaving around 10.30 am). Good luck travelling up from Kent. Although 'comfortable' is questionable. On returning offspring to uni today, Xmas present of large bottle of vodka shattered in car. We may be detained for a car under the influence at toll tomorrow, despite frantic cleaning efforts.
5. Unfortunately my dear friend Nevs cannot be present as he is working this weekend (also DJ CJ). However, he did ask me to deliver a proxy SLAP to SCB and Matt Davis on Sunday. Should I bring the cane perhaps? What on earth have these boys done!

Grahame Family

Was interested to see an Alan Grahame and his sidecar passenger Tony Grahame taking part in a national MX meeting in Wales at weekend. Was wondering, as they were from the Brum area, if they could be part of the Grahame speedway family, but when an obvious Andy Grahame stood next to me cheering them on; there could be no doubt. Apparently the boys have gone back to their roots. The Grahame boys' father Archie was competitive in sidecar motocross. They finished 11th and 16th in their two races; although they were not regular competitors in this series. If you ever are in the Pontrilias area - brilliant track for old fashioned scrambling; none of this new fangled open throttle hang on and go flat out MX. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am waiting patiently; I'll wait for the sign......

Cardiff 2007

Loved the presentation - getting back to basics with the protagonists simply riding the arena is much preferred to fancy arrivals. So glad I took the binoculars though and could get a more up close view of goings on....

Inspired by the interval 'entertainment' on the night the word was reinvented. For today's entertainment you can even fill in the missing rider depending on your opinions. Coz, you won’t stop racing, But please don’t give it a rest You’ve got more bottle than …………, Now time to overtake the rest. Now you’re just the kinda boy To give the Brits such pride, When they played the National Anthem, You and 40,000 cried, We knew right off when we first set our eyes on you, A champion of the future? Some said Bomber Harris – who? With your incessant racing, you’re becoming the BEST! yup yup bomber yup yup yup bomber bomber racer yup bomber bomber yup yup yup bomber bomber racer yup yup yup bomber bomber racer yup yup bomber bomber racer With apologies to the cockney pair...

What a night. Why are so many surprised at his success? He has not just suddenly appeared - he has come through the ranks and thoroughly deserves the plaudits he is now receiving. Certainly he has a great team around him but he is just such a natural talent, unphased by pressure and able to rise to the occasion. His moves tonight were reminscent of those at the County Ground with magnificent sweeps around the outside. He was a major player in the Falcon's win of 2000 and will always be our boy. His interview style has not changed since then either - always optimistic, upbeat and looking positively to the next challenge. Good to see him really enjoying tonight too We certainly did from the sofa - sorry neighbours!
10. This meeting sounds very tasty. Crying shame not attracting better coverage. Good luck to Adam Roynon of Plymouth Devils who is riding despite a broken collarbone - only injured 2 weeks previously - how mad/keen is he?! Sorry; but can't get to Eastbourne - just having to watch the first GP from the sofa.
11. In Coventry perhaps? Where do you get your advance info? Long range looks dire from forecasts I have heard. If you have it on authority - you ARE the man!!!
12. Please, weather gods, please 2007! After a fruitless journey to Gordano and return - let us look towards the postponement date of 14th January. Weather for this weekend however still looks very, very bad. From where I was ringing yesterday morning, hotline was unavailable at 8.00 and 9.00 am and we just had to leave soon after to collect friends en route. What IS this sport that drives us to hope that in such weather it could surely take place? History suggests however that this event WILL happen!! The effort that went into preparing the track is never in question. Disappointment all round. Looking to this weekend - is it possible that a call off can be called earlier if any doubt please - as I don't think I can motivate Headmaster for another Sunday without recompense?! Oh and by the way - if (apparently) the riders are up for it - please don't worry about spectators - we were so ready to view (again) in full mountain gear. It 's only potentially 1.5 hours after all of discomfort, but with such reward in prospect. Wizzer - do they not use plastic yet in Wales? Quite right - hell to recycle.
13. I never try to look forward TOO much for this one (who am I kidding ...but, c'mon... this is live speedway action in January (and not in Aus!). This years line-up looks particularly tasty- best I can remember - let's hope the weather permits. I bet the crowd is the best Newport have enjoyed during any meetings in 2006. Well done to Tim Stone for continuing this must-have-winter-fix. Hoping Wasps have an Watson-injury-free season 2007. One man doesn't make a team, but....heck of a disadvantage.
14. Enjoy it then...or put to good use campaigning for the NOTY cause. Although when your offspring betrays; there is really no motivation is there?! Anyway back to Newport - looking forward immensely - presume Phil Morris will be added to the list of competitors (go on Tim - go for the 16 men this time). Never thought Wizzer would ride for his local team - more than about time. He will be so brilliant for them. Such an inspiration and team man. Great signing. If anyone can bring the fans back - the Welsh Wizard can.
