    Newcastle 2020

Got to be honest there is a bit of a buzz about the place not seen for a good few years. Already signed the 2 riders from last year the supporters would have wanted, ideas to give extended entertainment throughout the meeting and a couple of possible shock signings incoming. Took over last week, but sure is making inroads immediately and imho has probably been sounding out the signings even before he took the plunge. Brought together an experienced team to help out also.

Dave, in your opinion, do you think that the team has already been just about signed up and the new promotion are purposely drip feeding the riders to maximise excitement and publicity?

Like the sound of this; seems to have some ideas and plans in his thinking. Some good assistance in the background also. Hopefully he will assemble a competitive team, but everyone (Newcastle fans) need to give him their full support as only a couple of weeks ago it was desperately looking bleak. Well done Rob and all the best for this season and the future.

Could well be feasible and a ready made plan to cut costs straight away and the opportunity to look at other options. Don't know what the cost would be for terraces to be built or at least some seating area for elderly/disabled persons.

Seems pretty significant although bearing in mind the Bin Zayed group set up a company for the sale of NUFC it's certainly not definitive. Sounds like something is happening (brilliant) as hinted by THJ the other day. Edit: looking at the date of birth looks like it maybe our former rider (possibly assisted by his dad!)

Hopefully the new ownership comes through as it will be a travesty for the club to fold, which has been a big part of British speedway history along with the city of Newcastle's sporting history. Fingers crossed.
  12. Yeah read to me that if they're looking for new owners (maybe already sorted), but if not forthcoming then it maybe the end. Might be totally wrong with that just the way it reads to me; and someone may have the knowledge to put me right.
  13. Well it's been rewarded with a lot more trophies than Redcar/Boro that's for sure. Congratulations on your win by the way which was more than deserved.
  14. Been off this board for a few years due to ill health, which has fortunately improved. After being away for nearly 6 years I made the plunge and bought a season ticket for this season. Have to say I enjoyed last night and thought there was some decent racing. Thought the team looked ok and especially inpressed with Jorgensen and Bjerre, who once they get a regular run of meetings and dialed into the track will be fine additions to the team. The only rider who really seemed to struggle a bit was Lambert and I'm sure he will be fine also once he gets used to the right racing lines at Brough. A couple of incidents changed the result when we were on a 4 - 2 and Greaves fell and the re-run produced a 3 - 3, heat 12 with Bjerre unlucky to be excluded and then Wethers lifting in heat 14 when comfortably ahead. Thought Redcar certainly looked a decent side also yesterday and there was never any danger that the aggregate win would be theirs. I think both teams will do ok this year and be in the mix for things.
  15. Why is that because I thought last night's performance was shocking and then get berated for it because I don't attend anymore. That's my choice and it is also my right to have an opinion and again I say if you dont like it tough - don't comment or put me on ignore instead of trying to get clever and putting personal remarks.
  16. Not been a supporter for 3 year but it doesn't stop me having an opinion the same as everyone else including you. Usual rubbish from some people on here who think that if you don't attend then you can't have an opinion. Well tough luck as I said if you don't like what I say don't reply. Another one with the high and mighty view that if you don't go then you can't have an opinion - change the record.
  17. I have been every week in the past with worse teams and I was still attending NUFC games the last few seasons watching poor teams so that is a load of rubbish - I don't go back as the rules are so backward and change for the worse each year and I highlighted one of these earlier. I have not been critical much this year even after the Sheffield performance so again you're talking rubbish. Tonight was a pathetic performance and that is a true assessment and if you don't like that then tough but to get your dummy out when I am just given an honest assessment on tonight is a bit rich. If you don't like what I say fair enough don't reply back.
  18. Exactly the reason I don't attend and won't either - wind your neck in or are you saying to me tonight's performance was good!
  19. Well done Glasgow - as for Newcastle one word laughable
  20. After his performances recently I wish he would. Didn't realise the rules only allowed r/r for one injured rider - big things need to change in the Summer across the board but they won't; as you can have a guest for your number 1 or reserve but not for another member of the team - crazy.
  21. i would have been tempted to bring Josh Bates in tonight (although not sure if this would be allowed as he has rode the last 2 weeks at Glasgow) as he has been pretty impressive at Ashfield and also would give 100% due to what has happened the other week. I knew Glasgow would be nip and tuck due to them having riders who ride Brough quite well but wasn't counting on Kus being out after his first ride and VP having a nightmare (am I right in thinking he changed his set up about 6 weeks ago?, which has seen his scores rocket down). As far DP - well I said it in May he should have been replaced and nothing has suggested to me that I was wrong in this as he is just not up to Premier League standard. Can't see anything but a comfortable Glasgow win and a big frustration that due to various reason a team who were big contenders in all formats this season will end up with nothing.
  22. Well done Sheffield and did I not say the winners will come from Newcastle or Glasgow and I still stand by that. What does me not going to a speedway meeting for 3 years have anything to do with it either - I was a regular for 38 years home and away before that.
  23. It's why I packed in 3 year ago and not been since and won't be until major changes have occurred (not hokding my breath as the rules get worse each season not better). Team was still more than strong enough to win but apart from AM and VP later on I think the rest need to have a long hard look at themselves. SW and RL have been missing far too many times this season (not their fault it's the rules) and it's something which has to be looked at next year. Could rant on and say a few things but all I will say is well done Sheffield.

Always said the winner will come from this semi final if we beat the other tigers - too tough to call and will be a cracker hopefully
  25. The rider in question, if not injured would have been riding but go on crack on
