  1. The British Final 2024 will be on a Saturday night. From the British Speedway website. British Final will take place at Belle Vue’s National Speedway Stadium on Saturday, June 8. British Speedway is delighted to be able to confirm the prime summer date for the major event, with the move to a weekend evening staging likely to be warmly welcomed by supporters. Prior warning the ParkLife Festival is on in Manchester that weekend and the hotel prices are similar to Cardiff. I wonder with a full season in British Speedway and with the event a month before the SoN whether Tai Woffinden will make a return.

    Berwick 2024

Glad Kemp has got a spot for '24. He seemed to mature a little last year at Scunthorpe and in his PL appearances hopefully he can continue on the upward curve. Interesting to read he was happy to miss Championship as he wanted to concentrate on Poland but then was talked round by Dickson.

    Plymouth Gladiators 2024

That could be a long season for the Gladiators with those 5 riders. Looks like a team of second strings at best - appreciate that Barker + Bowtell are able to put decent scores at home but that looks woefully short. Happy that the Thompson Twins have a Championship spot as they both seem to find themselves being the fall guys when changes are made. Plymouth fans at least you have got a speedway team.

    Belle Vue 2024

Think the Belle Vue side is pretty solid. Brady Kurtz, Dan Bewley give you the two out and out heatleaders. Jaimon Lidsey has progressed season to season and offers a strong option at 3rd heatleader. Norick Blodorn has plenty of Premiership + NSS experience. Was impressed with the Connor Mountain on the occasion I saw him at the British Final. Connor Bailey is developing and will contribute at home at reserve and Ben Cook was excellent last season if he can continue his development the Aces will be competitive. Not as immediately impressive as the Sheffield Tigers but can see them being ultra competitive again.

    Torquay United Football Club.

Clarke Osborne is nothing more than a parasite.
  6. Whoever your loyalty is with it is just great to see Sayfutdinov racing in Britain again. Sheffield is the team to beat but Witches look pretty strong if Rew + Jenkins can maintain their development.
  7. Yep - I noted that as well. Let us hope that is true.
  8. Think most in speedway would want to see Sayfutdinov back in British Speedway next season if the format allows. Cetrtainly Warner Bros Sports will do.
  9. Could do with a prime Gollob / Rickardsson / Crump also. Nicki P was box office and was the reason he was so doted at Eastbourne Eagles. Out and out #1 was a hard rider and wanted to win. He probably saw the opportunity that the angry man bed persona could make him box office or more money. From experiences of my family bumping into him at Cardiff he seems a very open and polite imdividual - Polar opposite to his mantra once in kevlars.

    2024

Never had understood the idea of watching a load of old bangers drivers round smashing into each other. Might as well as sit on a bridge on M25 and watch all the cars escaping ULEZ charges.

    Brandon Update

Thurrock Council backing not worth nowt aren't they completely bankrupt. Thurrock Council has been left effectively bankrupt after hundreds of millions of pounds were put into risky investments. So imagine the cash cow of a housing development and a couple of donations to Councillors favourite charities will be welcomed with open arms.
  12. Wroclaw decimated with injuries and force Woffinden to ride although not fit. Lublin has the Top 3 in the World and the 2x U21 World Champion always going to be tough ask but this was a procession. The story should be why a rider is forced to ride when not fit .

    Peterborough Panthers 2023

    Peterborough Panthers 2023

As an Eastbourne fan there is no other viable option geographically or logistically. So since the demise of speedway at Arlington the only meetings that the family has seen live is the British Final, SoN and the British SGP. The children had gone to Arlington since being in a carry-cot now 113 + 17 they watch on tv but it is never quite the same. Nearest alternative is supporting the Brits in the SGP. Certainly if a club was closer to home and at weekends we would make the effort but as Shhalewhhale states it's not the "same"
  16. Not sure if anybody has posted but there are a couple of runs in Cardiff on Sun AM which will close a number of roads around the City.

    Championship Pairs - Sep 1st

Should be between Poole, Redcar and Oxford. For all those attending hope the meeting is a good one.
  18. Not exactly going to say anything but are they .....
  19. Lambert apart should be a relatively easy introduction to British Speedway for the new Tigers should be looking to fill their boots.
  20. Peterborough and Kings Lynn have been fighting for that title all season.

    POOLE 2023

If the Premiership and Championship format makes it past the AGM , I can only see Oxford and Glasgow making the step up. Whether they are willing to is a different matter.
  22. Think the jewel in the speedway crown over recent years has been Warsaw or even Torun. Cardiff has been a diminishing event for years and it will be interesting to see what WBD / Discovery Sports look to do in the future. There was a kickback from Wales Tourism for many years but with increasing costs and lack of tickets sales I wonder whether there is a change of thought for the British SGP moving forward. Personally I am undecided whether to attend the SGP this year , it has been a family event since my children were born but the thought of driving to Cardiff and back in a day to Surrey and sitting in the abyss of the Principality with 10,000 others , it is just underwhelming.
  23. Looking at the averages on the PGE Ekstraliga most of the top 20 are the SGP riders. Laguta and Sayfutdinov are not featured due to political restrictions. Kolodziej has had his time in the SGP and admittedly is having some sort of resurgence currently both in the SEC and the League. Wozniak has earnt his spot through the SGP Challenge already and the only other young rider that you would imagine being considered could be Cierniak. That apart it is pretty much the same riders even if they drop the political restrictions and allow Sayfutdinov and Laguta back in . 1st Zmarzlik 2nd Sayfutdinov 3rd Kolodziej 4th Madsen 5th Laguta A 6th Vaculik 7th Kubera 8th Thomsen 9th Holder J 10th Bewley 11th Lindgren 12th Wozniak 13th Michelsen 14th Fricke 15th Doyle 16th Pedersen 17th Janowski 18th Lambert 19th Woffinden 20th Cierniak 24th Dudek
  24. To be honest the ticket prices aren't the issue. The cost for 2 adults and teenage kids now is not too bad. However the cost of hotels is astronomical "weekend event" rates. Last year was an exception because of covid etc the date was moved and announced and managed to get a hotel near Cardiff Bay relatively cost effective. This year it was back to normal and the hotels had ramped the costs up as soon as the event was announced. So we will look to drive into Cardiff early park up and then drive home. Agreed last year was farcical and the SGP2 was worst. The event is good in that it brings speedway fans across the country together and not hiding behind keyboards however the spectacle in my opinion has diminished whether this is the because of the cost of hotels or simply it is the same old show / format for 20 years gets a little tedious especially if the racing is a non event. Last year the spectacle was that Dan Bewley won the meeting but that seems to have been forgotten. Personally if it wasn't for the kids wanting to go , I could easily give it a miss. The jewel in the speedway crown is now Warsaw and I would look to put the SGP at National Speedway Stadium as the racing would be far better even with a downpour. The cost of hiring the Principality and even with the ongoing deal with Tourism Wales the profit must be marginal at best.
