  1. I have a room for sale near Newport (just off the motorway). It is a double room with twin beds and is booked for two nights (friday & saturday) - so is ideal for anyone who wishes to go to the Pairs  at Somerset the night before and then can enjoy a relaxing night after the GP before travelling back home.

Currently the room rate for the two nights are - £155 (checked tonight 20/6/19) and is sure to go up nearer the event.

I am prepared to sale for £120 - message me if you are interested or have any further questions.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the replies. The tracks that we are thinking of visiting are:

Plymouth, Swindon, Somerset, Poole & Birmingham.

    12 hours ago, Triple.H. said:

Surely it's illegal to not allow a disabled supporter who requires an assistant to not allow the assistant free entry. As the assistant is only there to aid the person who wishes to attend

For what it’s worth I think Triple.H is correct. Football has a criteria that has to be met before an Enabler/Carer is allowed entry - that is fine, but can you try explaining this to someone who operates a turnstile at Speedway?

  3. Do any tracks offer disabled people who need an Enabler/Carer free admission for the person accompanying them providing they have proof of the higher rate care component. I know many sports do and wondered what Speedway tracks do.

Feel free to add track names in this thread.

  4. At long last could there be some light at the end of the tunnel and well done to the campaigning to all those involved.  Speedway needs teams of the stature of Coventy, Exeter, Cradley etc.

Regarding the state of Brandon, perhaps it may be best to start from the ground up.  Remembering the size of the land Brandon is on would it not be possible to do some tie up with a commercial partner who would build a Grandstand that had facilities incorporated that could be used throughout the week, i.e, Conference/Wedding venue, Gym, etc.

It may result in Brandon looking different from the facility that closed but going forward Coventry fans would have a stadium more suited to this century than the last one.

Most importantly Bees fans would have a team on there own track to support.

  5. Regarding Royal Mail I used to always receive mine on a Thursday (with the odd exception) but when they changed their internal work practices a few years ago things are more sporadic - I would say it is more a 70/30 split in favour - but being a supporter of a defunct track I am not in such a hunger for my weekly fix.

  6. Wasn't it four Czech riders in for Exeter?  Ales Drymyl, Zedenek Kudrana, Jan & Vaclav Verner.  I remember going to the 'Western Winner' grass track event back in the seventies where I think Vaclav was competing and hearing about how his car ran on gas - as I was around nine or ten I spent all afternoon sh*****g myself that the thing would explode!!

  7. I am talking now as a fan in exile with no local track but I look back to Colin Hill's promotional reign at the County Ground.  Often are teams put together weren't the best but we knew that under his ownership barring a failure to re-negotiate a new lease we would have Speedway.  I guess that could be the same at Rye under Len Silver - not always the best side but under his stewardship Speedway would run.

Like in all walks in life there are always people who think that they can do better than the present incumbents - only to fall flat on their faces and leave the sport at those particular venues in a perilous state.

Hoddesdon was on our 'todo' list this season but we were told not to bother by some fellow 'Falcons' who informed us of the BMX track obstructing the view of the Speedway Track.

Fingers crossed though that next season Speedway does return to Hertfordshire.

  8. Hi, my tickets arrived today.  A little disappointed that when I booked (first day they went on sale) that I asked for something near or opposite the start/finish line which the girl on the phone said she had done only to find that we are in the upper tier on the first bend. The latter concerning me more as the person who is accompanying me is disabled as was clearly stated on booking (as well as the tickets)
