Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.

Correct - although the point was who controls the riders going onto the track, and that is the Clerk of the Course :o)

Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.

It actually is the Clerk of the Course who releases the riders onto the track, once he is satisfied they are clear to enter. The referee controls the 2 minute warning, and in the SGP he switches on the 2 minutes when the Clerk of the Course (Race Director) gives the ok to open the pit gate to let the riders out. To my knowledge it is no different in British league speedway.

    Uk Speedway Series

Not according to what I have read. Don't forget - the SCB license was brought in for a reason. Which is why in the second post I had looked into - It's all in the rulebook. However - what I had "remembered from years ago" was still the case Just trying to provide some facts / info. That was all.

    Uk Speedway Series

I've asked around and got a bit more info on this, but it is pretty much as I said earlier: The ACU is an umbrella organisation that covers all motorcycle sport in the UK. Anything to do with speedway, under the ACU, has to go through SCB. All speedway tracks must have an SCB track license. All speedway riders must have an SCB license. Speedway tracks cannot run a meeting not sanctioned by the SCB, or they will lose their track license. Speedway riders will lose their license if they participate in an unlicensed speedway event. The MCF cannot sanction a speedway meeting at a speedway track. Only the SCB can do this.

    Uk Speedway Series

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, yet as far as I am aware, if you run a speedway meeting on a licensed speedway track anywhere in the UK, it will have to be sanctioned by the BSPA/SCB somehow. There is no way of getting 'round that fact as it is an insurance issue. Also, any ACU/SCB licensed rider taking part in a meeting held on a non BSPA/SCB licensed speedway track, will risk having their license suspended. (That is putting it politely, i.e. they will lose their license). Again - as far as I am aware - no other governing body can sanction a speedway event in the UK. Having said that, good luck with it. More meetings can only be a positive.

    Swc Final

Speedway: Comments to allegations by JP article. Regarding the (Danish newspaper) Jyllands-Posten article published today (31 July) by journalist Dan Phillipsen: “Danish Coach claims World Cup winners have cheated”, Danmarks Motor Union wish to announce the following: Danmarks Motor Union are not of the opinion that there are grounds for alleging the Polish team won the Speedway World Cup by cheating. All procedures in connection with the protest of the Polish bikes were followed, and Danmarks Motor Union have no objections in connection with the result of the technical investigations. Likewise there are no grounds to allege that a Polish technical controller (delegate) has been impartial in connection with the inspection of the Polish bikes, nor that an FIM delegate had allegedly been inebriated during the inspection of the bikes. Finally, Danmarks Motor Union are not of the opinion that political interests allegedly had any influence on the outcome of the Speedway World Cup in Leszno, Poland, 21st July 2007. Danmarks Motor Union clearly take distance from the comments made by Team Manager Jan Stæchmann in the way in which they have been reported in the Jyllands-Posten article. There has been no reason to suggest such misinterpretations as have been reported, in connection with the events that led to the Polish World Cup victory. The DMU have made this very clear to Jan Stæchmann. -------------------------------------------- National Speedway Coach Jan Stæchmann wishes to add comment to the aforementioned article as follows: “In yesterdays JP article by Dan Phillipsen my comments stand more categorical than I ever meant for them to be” “At the World Cup final in Leszno we had suspicions that two of the bikes the Poles were using were not as per regulations. As is mentioned in the article, I lodged a protest at the end of the meeting. During the checking of the bikes, which was carried out according to the regulations by a Polish examiner, as well as being witnessed by a British FIM delegate, nothing criticisable was found, and this does not come across clearly in the article. In other words there are no suggestions of an aftermath – which is naturally why I (wish to) regret the controversy that can result based on the article” “My comment that a FIM delegate was inebriated is based on an impression shared by several on the day. This is obviously a claim which cannot possible be proven, and therefore should never have been uttered” “At the same time I would like to reiterate that my comments that this was “politically” a good victory have been taken out of context. I want to reiterate that my comments are not to be interpreted in any other way than this year’s victory for Poland is good for international speedway. Poland is one of the absolute biggest speedway nations, and the victory is therefore important so that Polish Speedway can continue the fair wind the sport has been enjoying for several years”. “Finally I would like to mention that the speedway season presently is at a hectic time, where the Danish riders are amongst the very best in the world. Constant high stakes and the adrenalin is flowing. Everyone involved with the World Cup in Leszno have their private or collective opinions of the events which were brought to light in the article. But fact is that the result is final and yours truly acknowledges a fine Polish evening on their hometrack”. -------------------------------- Press release DMU --------------------------------
