  1. You could correctly call it the higher standard than Premier League, league. So how do you describe something that is better than Premier.
  2. It has anyways been a mystery to me why they get such poor crowds at the EOES.
  3. Not a win I take great delight in but we're not the first team to take advantage of rider absences. I do wonder if Lakeside are now regretting not agreeing to Belle Vue's request to rearrange the fixture. However, it is possible we would have won with our regular 1-7.
  4. Is this a record...... Think about it.
  5. I think you have misunderstood. It's Belle Vue +1 and Wolves =
  6. Both Belle Vue and Wolves have reported that they have been told when trying to sign riders that Monday is a problem because of the effects of having to travel from Poland on a Monday then get an early flight to Sweden on a Tuesday. Belle Vue are going to move to Friday with Wednesday as an alternative on GP weekends. People are more inclined to spend at a weekend and to be less concerned about a late night for children.
  7. All this idle chatter about Wolves, Swindon and 4th place. In the real world Belle Vue are currently the 4th best team. The best and truest guide to form is the away league points gained v home points lost. Belle Vue +1 Wolves = Swindon -2

    Coventry V Poole 1/6/15

He could always do what Peter Collins did in the 1973 KO Cup Final after breaking his wrist. He simply moved the clutch lever to the other side and had the clutch and throttle together.
  9. My memory is probably worse than yours but I don't think it was anything to do with a party and I think we had at least one, if not two, Belle Vue riders. I thought we'd asked Eastbourne to rearrange it but they refused. I also understand that Belle Vue have tried to rearrange tonight's fixture but that it wasn't possible. Don't know why. Monday is also one of the reasons many riders don't want to race here. They think it is too much with Poland on a Sunday and Sweden on Tuesday.
  10. I agree that weekend racing is difficult with all of the various international commitments but surely it is not beyond the wit of someone even reasonably intelligent to arrange a fixture list that avoids more PL fixture clashes and events like the world u21's. We know it is unavoidable for injuries but the BSPA have got to realise that the excessive use of guests for avoidable reasons is one of the major reasons the sport is in difficulties.
  11. Bit of a puzzle then why that supposedly perfectly good product is also failing to bring in the crowds.
  12. The farce of this year's pick was to use PL averages for the grading, when most had a more relevant EL average and to allow clubs to keep an existing rider even if he wasn't an asset. Coventry were allowed to protect Garrity, so were able to gain a double advantage merely because they finished bottom in 2013. This year Leicester should have been able to pick him.
  13. Or maybe Rosco just thought Rose was a better option. Not unreasonable on their form last year.

    Guest Facility Abuse

I think between us we've cracked it.

    Guest Facility Abuse

I think I've just had a brainwave. Instead of Stokes effectively replacing Niels how about a system where all of the riders below Niels in the averages could take one of his rides. That will have much less of a detrimental affect on the team than the difference in class between a number one and a number eight. Bet no-one ever thought of that. You could call it rider replacement.

    Ftr Reserves

It must be me and I've only looked at Belle Vue but their overall points difference after 10 matches is -15 not -26.
  17. I understand that the SCB had prepared a press release to notify everyone that they were launching an immediate investigation into this attempt to circumvent the rules. They regarded it as a very serous matter and had already decided that, if true, the club involved would be fined £3000 and be prevented from choosing any guest riders without the prior authorisation of a referee for a period of two years. However, it has now been decided to shelve the matter, they had misunderstood and thought it involved a Belle Vue rider.
  18. At least that has saved another farce. It will be interesting to see if Janowski will turn up for the rearranged fixture be a bit more difficult to find an excuse after this debacle. Then again maybe he won't be in the team by then.
  19. Nothing there that says he was forced to ride. Says he was committed to ride, just as he was for Poole tomorrow. I have never before known a situation where a rider has ridden in two meetings on consecutive days but declared before the second meeting that he will be unfit to ride in a third meeting the following day. He didn't even wait to see how his knee was on Sunday morning. He somehow knew it was not going to be so bad as to cause him to have to miss the Polish meeting but bad enough to have to miss Belle Vue.
  20. Harris certainly improves Poole. He is a Kirky Lane specialist and Janowski has rarely impressed. This had all the makings of a tight match. North, Holder as a second string, Watt and Newman can all score well at Belle Vue and Harris could swing the balance. Unfortunately, this is going to be yet another match stuck in the mire of controversy that seems too often to involve one club more than any other. The weather could be the winner. I hope it is.

    Poole 2015

It's Poole so I'm sure there is a good and valid reason why Janowski won't be riding despite his appearances over the weekend in Finland and Poland. The fact that Harris is a Kirky Lane specialist is purely coincidental.
  22. As I said, I certainly think he has potential and he will improve but assessing him at the time he got injured I don't believe he would achieve 7. He would get beaten too often by heat leaders and second strings like those I have mentioned. I accept it's purely a matter of opinion.
  23. I Of course I'm aware of the vagaries of the current system. However, the standard of riders at reserve and second string is generally higher this year than last. I am not convinced that a 4 point heat leader would average 7 as a second string. You have to be very poor to average such a low figure. I have seen Musielak ride, he has potential but he is not yet close to the standard of riders like King,Schlein, Lambert, Cook or Wells and riding as a second string, would be beaten by them more often than not. I was using the figure of 4 to make a point to Stevebrum, that it is a significant advantage to be able to replace him on his assessed average. Realistically and on current form, I would expect Musielak to average about 5.5 as a second string.
  24. Maybe not but many would be happy if he was named as a 4 point second string. That is what we are actually talking about when making comparisons to Musielak.
