  1. SCB, you have got a deal, can you confirm if his rolling average will still be a factor in his final average, if he rides all season ? Think we need a minimum amount of matches as well, because if he only rode for a few weeks, you would be quids in LOL. Just don't disappear off the forum if you lose, like the Ipswich fan did last year, when he lost the bet regarding who owned Lewis Blackbird.

I take it you mean me? I never "disappeared" anywhere! And I didn't lose the bet for crying out loud, you're STILL wrong!!!

  2. So you are telling me he only rode half the season at no 5, which is basically what I was saying.

It's still early doors but I haven't seen anything yet that stands out although Newcastle look better than last year already.

That isn't what you were basically saying at all. You said and I quote, "Covatti started at reserve last year and will undoubtably find it tougher riding in the likely no 5 position."

He rode a fully four months of the season riding at number 5 and didn't find it "tougher" at all, he was like shi t off a shovel.

  3. Pete Simmons is nailed on to return. The clues were there a couple of weeks ago. Both Simmons and the official Witches twitter account were following each other whilst he was team manager, then both "unfollowed" when he left, and both have now followed again at the same time a fortnight ago.

When a question was put to Pete that his twitter bio of "EX" Ipswich team manager was innacurate now, he favourited the tweet.

Could be 2+2 making 46, but I doubt it.

By the way, great to have a Castagna in the team again for nostalgia purposes!

And today Simmons has followed James Sarjeant, Covatti, Darryl Ritchings, Paco Castagna and Mike Bacon. Just name him and be done with it.

Team looks good to me I'm excited to see some new faces. That top four should score plenty between them!

  4. Wow what a team......

Thanks to phil Hilton for the tip off at tonight's dinner dance. 5 brits a dane and an Italian. .....

So mike bacon if ya reading this Mr Hilton has just informed me of...

    King

    Kerr

    Risager

    Nielsen

    Covatti

    Rose

    Ritchings

Think Mike already knows judging by his last two follows on twitter!

Not too sure on that line up to be honest. Looks a pretty long tail to me and I'm not sure about Nielsen in the 1-5 either.

You'd expect good points from King, Kerr, Covatti and Risager most meetings though so looks competitive but I don't think it'll be one of the pre-season favourites.

  5. Kennett was pretty hacked off having to carry the team for most of the season. I Wouldn't blame him if he wanted a move, but now the new promoters are fully in charge he may want to see what their team building plans are. At the end of season meeting, after collecting his Mr Rocket award, he said he wanted to return

He's not likely to collect his Mr Rocket award and then make a speech saying "thanks for this by the way I'm off" is he Shads ;)

I don't believe we'll sign him as it goes because King is pretty much nailed on and I just can't see Louis going that top heavy.

You'd think Kennett would be the first Rocket signed up wouldn't you? Most like to get their number one's done first so I'm sure this rumour will be put to bed pretty quickly.

  6. Swap the Roo-Boy for Kennett and I don't think you'll be to far off the mark?

Third heat leader will be Kennett!!!

That's twice you've mentioned Kennett in a few days, and you seem pretty confident in your last post! Have you heard something from a reliable source Roland?

I know plenty think top heavy would be the way to go and I agree also. The top heavy teams nearly always seem to ride off with the trophy, but having two nine and a half pointers is a bit overkill isn't it?

Would be interesting though at least!

  7. It does make it all the more interesting and we'll all have a rough idea of how ready the lad is for PL racing.

Comes very highly rated, and apparently has a crowd pleasing racers style so I'm looking forward to seeing him.

Always nice to see Scotty on the Heath too so all in all looking forward to it.

  8. IMO.... you will see:

Rohan, Covatti, Heeps and Morris back.

Throw in Ellis, and then couple others.

King is a cert to return as long as he wants another year in the PL.

Would be very surprised to see Tungate return also I think Louis will have lost patience with him this year we'll see.

  9. "Ipswich Team Manager, Phil Hilton, was extremely pleased with his team's performance: "That's more like it - a very positive attitude in the pits tonight with everyone contributing on the track as well."

"Co-promoter, John Louis, added "What an enjoyable meeting after what has happened in recent weeks. The atmosphere in the pits was so positive tonight - now to keep it going and move up that table!"

  10. Thanks for the comments on Cam.

Main thing is he didnt look troubled by the injury.

Bound to be a bit rusty. Hope he can get a few more spins in elsewhere this week and blow the cobwebs away before his return.

I think I am right in thinking it would be our first meeting with our own full 1-7?

Yep that's what Chris Louis has been saying in the Star, next week will be the first time this season we'll have raced with our own full 1-7.

He also says that no team has raced the Witches at their best this season and we need to improve pronto as the team is good enough to be top 3.

I agree with him it is, and I feel some sympathy for Louis because he keeps putting together very good looking teams every single season, and for whatever reason every single season the team doesn't live up to its potential.

    Must be very frustrating.

  11. Who is right who is wrong will we know probably not but it's the same in any job. If your deemed to not be doing your job/work to the standard which your management wants of course there are going to be repercussions it's the same in any line of work . If I spent the next so many weeks not reaching a standard which my manager wanted they there would be a case that my manager would dispense with my services. It happens all the time in any line of work , yes the person may feel a little a grieved by their mangers actions and say a few words but it's there managers choice . Changes are made new staff hired and work continues but if it continues to happen and results are still bad then it will be the turn of the management to maybe come under action against them . Hawkins has gone his results for this season were poor by his standard and the management has acted for the so called good of the team time to stop all this who is right and who is wrong and back the team . Welcome Ashley Morris good luck for the rest of the season. Only time will tell if the management has made the correct choice

It's pretty easy for me, Hawkins was wrong. We all know his season got off to the worst start possible and from then on it's just not happened for him.

All he had to say was that he was struggling and no longer enjoying it so he needs a break. That's all he needed to say then none of this debating would be necessary.

He may well have had issues with Hilton, but that should have been kept in house and he was out of order to publically criticise the fella and tell all and sundry that we won't be successful purely because of his management style.

    Unnecessary.

That's my last word on the subject so I'll bow out of this one now!

Welcome to Ashley Morris good luck lad.

  12. I'm loving the way people are slagging off Ritchie. If Phil had did the first interview and Ritchie had been able to comment on that, then maybe views would be different!?

I think you're clearly biased towards Hawkins here, that's a bit obvious! Hawkins is out of order here and should have kept his trap shut in the first pace.

He's either just being really spiteful, or very clever with that interview. Hilton is now under a lot of pressure because the next time we struggle to beat an inferior looking team at home (or lose), then the finger will be pointed at the team manager.

Hawkins has basically just told every single Witches supporter that we'll win nothing this season, and it's all because of that Phil Hilton fella.

Unbelievably unfair and out of order IMO.

As someone else pointed out, radio Suffolk clearly confronted Hilton with Hawkins' interview and asked him to respond.

What was he supposed to do? Say yes it's all my fault and Ritchie is spot on?

He was asked to respond and he did that, and I personally thought he done it very well in an eloquent manner.

  13. Can't help thinking that the biggest winner in all of this sorry affair is Tungate. Certainly has taken the focus off his failings this season.

I normally stick up for Tungate as I think he gets a bit of an unfair ride by some, but he's poor this season up until now.

The perverse way this sport works though will probably mean he'll look more attractive for next season because of it.

  14. But if you make 2 changes then we have to be under the 42.50 limit!

Only just over though aren't we? think it was 42.9ish last time I looked. The way one or two others averages are also tumbling it might be worth making more than one change and re-declaring!
