  1. Got to be honest I expected a closer meeting but heat 9 was worth the admission alone, great to see Jye controlling the race
  2. Because it suited him too not withstanding the fixtures were properly arranged, scheduled and officially adopted by the BSPA. He has put his club first and why shouldn't he, he must always do the right thing for Scunthorpe Speedway. You don't need to defend him it's in black and white this week in the Speedway Star, what you are trying to do is mitigate the decision it's irrelevant there's no need, he along with his colleagues allowed Friday fixtures to be arranged and officially approved and they changed their minds 5 months later, simples. You can look forward to Sheffield, Leicester and maybe Kings Lynn visiting you once a month each 'cos everybody else will be shut if such critical decisions are based on self interest, what rule have Peterborough, Workington and Lakeside broken? Does anybody know?
  3. Yes that's a fair point and I did feel like I was having a pop at you instead of the current situation, apologies. I am frustrated that yet again clubs are being run up to the cut off to get fixtures in and find it unacceptable that some clubs are declining fixtures in the full knowledge that denying the request contributes to a lack home fixtures, continuity and to get those crucial matches in that could see the requesting club make the play offs. Historically the BSPA have forced some clubs to accept re-arranged fixtures to complete the league programme, this year the same people have forced clubs to cancel fixtures that had been accepted and agreed leaving even bigger gaps and a complete disregard for; fans who had made plans, rider movements and progress with the competitions. Whilst there may have been some justification in looking at fixtures it's been handled appallingly, significantly benefits 1 club and has been made by a committee made up of your Promoter, Leicester's Promoter (who works for your Promoter) and their best mate the Vice Chairman. That more than anything is a good enough reason to handle the matter sensitively and in the now famous "transparent and open way" promised.
  4. Yes it says Scunthorpe can't get good enough guests on a Friday so they are going to cancel the fixtures for the clubs that do not have Fridays as their primary race night even though we accepted those fixtures into the official, BSPA fixture list and registered them with the International Speedway League Calendar. It also says it's unacceptable for 10 of the 11 clubs to be in action on a Friday, unacceptable to whom? Does that mean only 50% of the league (any league) can only run on any given day of the week? Hopefully that includes Bank Holidays under this made up rule. An explanation becomes justification a month after the event but it still doesn't alter the situation that 3 clubs have been disadvantaged to help 1 other, the Vice Chairman's although with Buster rapidly losing interest your man runs the show now.

They could sell their engines on that stall!
  6. Have you completely missed the posts concerning the lack of fixtures for the rest of the league? Some of them have or will be going 4 weeks without a home meeting. At the height of the season when the best opportunity should be there to attract new customers. Don't worry, you're alright Jack carry on with the positive attitude then you can race Scunny and Leicester every other week.
  7. Whoooooosh! Who you gonna race against when all the other clubs have shut?

    Workington 2018 .

What part of "We're not going there without Stevie Worrall" don't you understand Rob?
  9. Of course they were, that's why re-arranging fixtures has been a nightmare - everybody had too many free dates. Dream on this is the biggest organised fk up ever in British Speedway!
  10. I've just been on their website to check if you'd snipped it, so no apology to anybody; not the broadcaster, the riders, the viewers or the paying customer who got covered in 5hite whilst being bored out of their minds. You'd be forgiven for thinking they did it on purpose, utter contempt for everyone except each other.

    Workington 2018 .

Don't take it personally, Scunthorpe declined proposed fixtures until Worral was fit. Sheffield for other reasons and whilst you've got both those clubs and Leicester on the management committee there is no reasoning beyond their immediate wishes. Why oh why have they not come out with an explanation to allay any fears or allegations?????????

It's an interesting belief you have, when a Speedway is nothing more than a department within a company (not a separate entity) then yes you may be right but where the Speedway is a separate company or a separate company within a holding company then not necessarily so. There have been and may well be more tax investigations by HMRC into perennial loss making ventures that receive funds (sponsorship) from sister companies on the basis that the person(s) with significant control may be one and the same. They are viewing it like "My Racehorse Ltd or My Superyacht Limited" where the poorly performing business is being used for tax avoidance. HMRC have already undone some of the benefits to enterprise investors because investments were made with little or no risk to avoid tax instead of being genuinely invested to develop businesses. The harsh reality is that Speedway businesses are all losing money, even if you think your club is making a profit it is burning equity faster than it can build capital. Let's say for example Poole was worth half a million quid 2 years ago, how much is it worth now and how much will it be worth when there is nobody left to race against? Wolverhampton could be the same, a steady business for years it's value has been eroded by the state the sport is in. Being able to pay the bills doesn't mean they are making money and as for the joker who thinks Stoke are coining it in, pm me and I'll send you Tatts number you can call him and tell him just that!

    Cardiff 2018 21st July

Here we go again, same bile from the same people meeting after meeting year after year if you included the Producer and Director in your criticism you might get near the mark but all the time he is told to big it up by his masters he will because the feedback from the majority is just the opposite to yours. Each to their own of course but your incessant Pearson bashing makes it look personal and I'll bet there's a grain of truth in that.
  14. I liked Blackbird Road too !
  15. So a wealthy club pays a rider to lay down and rest for 2 weeks then brings him back at reserve? That's already been tried 1 club even brought a rider from Europe to pull up after half a lap so that he could achieve the number of qualifying meetings and secure his new average. No thanks team managers should stick to what they're good at, Hollywooding!

    The continuing decline of Speedway

How can the people at the top deal with this, they are the ones refusing fixtures!

Throttle works both ways but on a slick track the slightest grip or driving out of a hole is enough to chuck em up. With lower revving engines they would alter the gearing to stay in control and feather the throttle to find grip but sitting on the lifting handle on the stop balls out really leaves the riders at the whims of the track surface and curator.

They do actually, every till receipt has an invitation to complete the survey with monthly draws as the hook. They also do anonymous surveys using an agency then at the end of the call you are told the survey is being conducted on behalf of M &S Just caught up HT got there first

    Thank you Sky for nothing

To be fair the ambition was to make Speedway great again and increase crowds so much so that the BSPA wholly funded the first year on Sky. The second year was a shared contribution and year three was the first deal but please don't run away with the idea that it was all bunce. The historical costs of getting it on air had to be restored, TR had knocked on every TV companies door and Ole Olsen had followed him by coincidence (or not) with his GP proposition, no broadcast or production partner were prepared to take a risk on British Speedway! Through Terry the BSPA took the risk and funded it in the belief that it would establish a TV audience that would repay their investment and it did. Sky are not and never have been the problem, this sport parceled itself up for television not the other way round.

2010/11 the beginning of the end

Looking at the decline from a technical perspective it was the introduction of laydowns for me, not because we saw poor racing but costs increased significantly overnight and it put the riders under immense pressure to invest more in equipment/facilities than was ever needed before.

    The continuing decline of Speedway

I agree but if you were called to Pall Mall it wasn't a question of whether you would get off it was how hard they clobbered you.
