    AGM MADE PUBLIC

Everybody seems hooked on 7 man teams if it goes one league there simply isn't enough riders for 18/19 teams. You're looking at 5 man teams after 2 or 3 clubs drop out out. The last time it was one league Sheffield and Long Eaton were left without number 1's and when they came to town many folk saved their money and did something else. Like then there will be half a dozen teams that have the pick of the crop unless there is a low, low points limit to force riders to ride for the less well off clubs.

Whether you're right or wrong with this Martin your cynicism has dragged you to the bottom of the gutter with this one and the ensuing hate posts and naming are testimony to that. Don't be surprised if justice can't be delivered or the case is prejudiced by threats and public outcry, if you are now outing for a living then look a bit closer to Perry Barr and face the wrath of his Solicitors! Yes you know who I mean. Mods, by all means suspend me for 28 days for attacking the poster but do take him off forever

    AGM MADE PUBLIC

I don't want to diss other opinions but those of you who can do the simple maths work out how many riders are realistically going to be available, the number of teams likely to be in one league and divide one into the other and that will tell you how many riders can be in a TEAM. Unless you are going to run 5 heat leaders then the points limit will be nearer 30, you are possibly making the assumption that 7 man teams are to stay, if they are then a lot of clubs will have to close. Even if you sweep all the riders from 3 leagues into one what will you be watching? If you do that the top riders will have a field day consuming more money per point and in effect the average cost per point could increase so that knackers the reduced admission ideas. Whatever the real solution is too many clubs are in too deep to take a gamble on any suggestions that are not within their scope of opportunity. I like the ideas of weekend racing alternate weeks, let those that wish f.. off to Poland and rebuild the sport around weekend CLUB racing, simplify the rules and work with what we've got not what we want. The reality of one league is fewer teams and fewer riders in each team, oh and a much lower points limit/standard.

Extract from Chunk'y post; "Now, the fans... Yes, the fans believe they know everything, but it is incredible how many THINK that they have a solution, yet don't even consider the practicality and viability of their ideas. In many cases, they don't look at the big picture, just what suits THEM, or THEIR TEAM. Sometimes - a lot of the time, actually - a seemingly nonsensical idea is dismissed when the reality is that discussion of the basic idea can actually be fruitful" This para identifies where many Promoters come from, the terraces. They jump into shark infested waters and get hacked to pieces, when it comes to logic and voting at the BSPA self interest rules regardless of the price some clubs may pay. Win at all costs has never been more prevalent and has ruined opportunities to put together a survival strategy for the sport so anyone who is fresh into Promoting Speedway with half an idea gets buried before they open their mouth. Just ask JC, not everyone's cup of tea but some great ideas totally rejected because of who he was not because they were unworkable and he wasn't the only one tossed aside by the members.

    Workington 2018 .

That's odd? only the 2 clubs that were represented on the Management Committee allowed to change race nights? Have you got that right? Don't Peterborough and Lakeside race on Fridays too? So let me get this right Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lakeside, Peterborough, Scunthorpe and Workington have Friday fixtures with riders competing in qualifying rounds all over as well. I make that 6 home meetings so there is not enough riders for 12 teams to be in action with guests and R/R? Oh! there are only 11 teams in the league that means at least 1 possibly 2 or 3 can't run on a Friday otherwise there won't be enough riders for the rest (or teams for that matter). "Let's tell those who do not have or gave up their Friday priority they can't run that'll solve it". Never mind Marras you can fill your blank Saturdays instead, start with re-arranging your postponed fixtures; Scunthorpe and Sheffield. Oh! they've already declined your offer of dates then why not go to the Management Committee and get them to force those clubs to come on a Saturday? Oh! those clubs are on the Management Committee, isn't that where this started? Why don't Workington race some meetings on a Friday then? 'Twas on the Monday morning the Gas man came to call

    BSPA Upset the Poles

Subscribing to the international fixture priority list was done to protect British clubs, it's not that long ago that riders were going awol on a Thursday to race in Poland on a Sunday citing their Polish contracts that they signed first as the priority. Riders were being called to "official" practice sessions, Sponsors launches and parties, club PR events and Civic receptions over British Speedway, the International Speedway league gave priority on set days which allowed other countries to retain their riders without breaching their Polish contracts. It was never intended to be the absolute solution and couldn't be because the countries who get their fixtures logged first take priority on non priority days and we are nearly always last to submit. I hope that makes sense but as an example if both a Polish Club and a British club logged a fixture on a Tuesday (Sweden's priority) and a rider was faced with a fixture clash between the two countries then the first logged fixture would take priority. Factor in the extended National and International priority then rain offs in every country and you will see it's a nightmare for every league so it's hardly surprising there are disagreements from time to time. As for the comments about who should allow what, the free movement of European workers gives riders the right to earn their living within the EU whether self employed or not which is another reason why the Federations had to try and work together.

You're absolutely right imho, had Marcel persevered independently it would and may still develop as a positive option. The BSPA presented this as the utopian solution which was met with the usual mistrust and contempt from so many, including me. I can't diss the initiative but the implementation was premature and poor yet in reality it could still be the eventual solution. My beef is that engines are the rider's responsibility not the BSPA when they can't even get right the things they are good at!
  12. The Mole looked at it 21 years ago as a potential home for Long Eaton's licence/displacement. The track would have been smaller and tighter than the then Arena Essex,as such it was considered not to be a suitable league venue.
  13. You do realise that at some point during the evening he's gonna tell you where to go and storm out like he has done for the last 20 years ?
  14. Whisperer

    I don't believe it

Correct, he is more likely to pull from BV at Sheffield rather than Leicester despite both clubs being owned by the same promotion. They must have somebody on the Management Committee looking out for them.

    Coventry Bees Nl ?

Surely the magnitude of international support gives the various factions within the Bees fan base comfort and an opportunity to bury their differences, at least publicly and anywhere (like here) that the negatives can be exploited and utilised against Coventry Speedway. Great opportunity to keep it private guys don't eff it up !

    Swindon Stadium

Well this is just brilliant news, the splithole at Blunsdon that people have been complaining about for yonks is going to fail because it will be a modern facility with clean toilets, better lighting and comfortable surroundings - best we rebuild all the derelict stadiums from yesteryear and the sport will thrive ! The Speedway has been propped up for years, this is an opportunity to increase attendance and consequently reduce the risk of closure surely?

    Kings Lynn 2018..

I haven't read the article but my guess is Robert has been too open and somewhat naive with the writer, it wasn't Paul Burbidge by any chance was it? Paul is very good at taking off the record remarks and turning them into print and whilst the interviewee has an expectation of what will appear it's what is on the voice recorder that evidences the published piece. Paul has succeeded in bringing a different dimension to the GP's though, he is extremely capable and should not be underestimated.
