very true , but if you consider the other close by areas (Aston - Smethwick- Hockley etc) probably no worse.

Wanted to set off early and make a whole day in the Birmingham area and need something to occupy the family (got a six year old to keep happy), zoo, theme park etc until tapes up within a reasonable distance from Perry Barr if anyone can help.
You might like to try this. just a few minutes away from the speedway stadium + no worries about parking & congestion charging .

But while there is still hope we've got to keep fighting. And with that in mind I see the letter suggests that comments can be made on the planning portal. So I'm wondering can someone from the Save Coventry Stadium group advise if there are any comments that an ordinary fan could make on the portal that would be helpful? Or are we beyond that stage?
Anyone who has commented previously regarding the planning proposal will receive a letter from Rugby Council explaining the procedure of the appeal.
It does state in the letter that any comments ,or modification/withdrawal of previous representations can be made at https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk
I am presuming anyone is able to comment there.
Fingers crossed.

Watched F1 for many years, but over time interest has waned, too much money spent to get the last thousands of a second, yet many teams dont have the money to try to find that and are left behind, so it becomes only a few teams can actual win a world championship. The silly situation last race 2021 was the final nail in the coffin for me. These days I not particularly interested in British speedway, yes I may watch it if its on TV for free, I still find the racing can be exciting. However, my main interest in speedway now is the Gran Prix. When the show is on a good race track the show can be amazing to watch, IMO. Nothing in F1 can match that, never did for me.
Speedway is still "my sport" too ,I've supported it for over 60 Years, I accept it for what is is, but i am still extremely interested in F1 & it would seem that with a 3 day attendance of some 450,000 at Melbourne many others are too . What i do feel odd is that a decision by one man in one race "led you lose total interest in F1" whilst still following speedway with all of its issues.

They proclaimed MM would serve his 2 long lap penalties at the next round, May have even referred to Argentina. But MM is out of Argentina injured and Honda are saying his penalty is now nullified. Seems like you need a lawyer at trackside so you don’t happen to say words that are not correct even if the meaning behind them is.
Looks like MotoGP is following F1 into the realms of stupidity instead of common sense. It was the stupid decision in the last F1 race of 2021 that led me to lose my total interest in F1. I hope MotoGP does not go the same way.Yet you still retain a strong interest in speedway, where rules are interpreted in any way that suits the occasion & have been for as long as I can recall. Michael Masi was investigated for his decisions in that race & he was removed from the job, I'm not sure what more you expect from the FIA..

Definitely is , but it seems the people who run the sport will continue to offer their many reasons/excuses why an earlier call off wasn't made.

Both Col & Jim were in the bees team when I saw my first speedway meeting , must have been around 1960.Very sad news.

You should be ok . Apparently Emil took to track "like a duck to water" so he'll be fine whatever the conditions.

Yes , but we know the start marshal can take great care to get them lined up & the second he moves away at least one rider will back off from the tapes undoing everything he has attempted to achieve .

4 minutes ago, steve roberts said:...I remember when Peter Adams, rather tongue in cheek, suggested that the starting tapes be made of barbed wire when the touching tapes rule was first muted... he stated that would soon deter riders from nudging the tapes!
"Pete Adams barbed & tongues" all together seems appropriate.

Could be , there definitely needs to be some sort of punishment for moving at the start, otherwise it would soon be chaos.

16 hours ago, brianbuck said:The argument that supporters suffer by watching 3 man races might seem logical, but I believe that some riders are encouraged by team managers to try it on at the starts, knowing that there is always a reserve to replace them if they are caught out.
This would stop abruptly if there were no exclusions for tapes offences, so supporters would benefit in the long term by not having to put up with repeated restarts.
But surely that would just encourage them all to "try it on" & we would soon be back to the bad old "Rawhide" days ,you know "rollin- rollin-rollin".?

One of the very few benefits of being an"oldie" for me.

Ah yes Hyde Rd , so many memories. The BLRC was always around the date of our son's birthday so each year it was a family day out , firstly the Zoo, then off to the speedway which was always a great atmosphere & when that finished the rest of the evening at the funfair along with many other supporters .Great times .

8 minutes ago, Gambo said:I am in no way trying to justify what happened, but did the decision to sell happen some time after that terrible fire at Bradford? Football, and wooden stands (like Leicester's) were then deemed unsafe.
I think the Bradford fire was 1985 ,so later than the sale of Blackbird Rd.

Obviously not comprehensive enough , as you've still failed to understand , I notice that you have changed tack now & it's now "they " sold Leicester & not C O.

Just now, Toady said:As I said he ran the company an made decisions also he stood to benefit being a shareholder so sold Leicester down the river
Perhaps you can explain how anyone can sell a company that he doesn't own? No one person can be accused of selling the stadium it would have to have been a majority vote by all concerned. That's how compies are run.
-
4 minutes ago, Toady said:Who Ochiltree had shares in and was general manager and also the main decision maker since 1968.
I think you will find that the Sanderson family were the majority shareholders of the company & no decisions would have been made without their approval.

The company that owned the place, Midland Sports Stadiums Ltd.

I bet I have heard this rubbish hundreds of times previously too. The C O didn't sell Leicester .

I think it is tremendous how people have responded to this in just a few days, it proves just how much Brandon Stadium means to them.
