I don't have an issue at all with the testing procedure it is tried and tested, while not wanting to see any riders test positive, if they do they must face the consequences. What I do have an issue with is the inconsistency with the rules regarding the replacement for the not innocent rider. An inconsistency that was revealed last year and still seems to be in place for this year.

How do you replace a rider who failed a test an hour before a meeting?? Where are you getting these riders from??

When did Newcastle "drop" Connor Mountain? He rode throughout the whole of the 2021 season and was given a starting place at his own club the following year, which ruled him out of the Diamonds team.  Joe Alcock rode in the first 3 matches and was replaced by Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, who lasted 4 matches and he was then replaced by Archie.

Whatever the reasoning it was an awful decision and potentially destroyed a career

That was the downside of the "rising star" system. Newcastle dropped promising young Brit Connor Mountain because he wasn't a "RS" replaced him with Joe Alcock who was nowhere near ready, then replaced him with Archie Freeman who was even further away from being ready.

Obviously he got "free practice" but did going in the Champ far too early, hinder his progress?

Ideally you want riders to be NL heat leaders before stepping up.

I said at the time it could destroy his confidence and was a terrible decision by Newcastle to put a young riders career in doubt… not certain it has affected his decision to now walk away but certainly wouldn't of helped im sure

Top of the league, 1 trophy, runners up in the other 2 , not a bad season i would say

So in answer to my question yes you did bottle it when it mattered.... top of the league means nothing

Because I think it seems quite clear Plymouth have attempted to sign a variety of riders of which none have worked out for various reasons.

I don’t think anyone either wants to see the club bankrupt themselves either signing a rider or because they are completely uncompetitive and fans dwindle away and never come back.

Covattis injury is an unfortunate thing that is obviously not the clubs fault, I understand that the rules are the rules and it is not the authorities fault either but I feel in instances like this there should be some flexibility.

I'm not a Plymouth fan either but I think it would be in the best interests of the sport to be flexible as surely a competitive and potentially profitable club is good for the sport no? Or would you rather see them go the way of so many clubs in recent years?

Id rather see the rules followed and the sport have some form of credibility than just ignore them because someone put effort in (how much is unknown) whats to stop other rules being ignored as long as theres some effort

He often hasn't raced in early season meetings in the past either, nothing new there.

He gave an interview in last weeks Speedway Star about wanting a Premiership place and about his off season, i'm sure everything is fine.

It could knock her confidence a bit if gets a lot of last places, I believe she rode at Belle Vue last year so she should know the set ups.

Or being around some world class riders could help her massively!! Im sure shes not going expecting to win but always great experience
