  1. strife

    Belle Vue National Stadium

I'm already eating humble pie and happily so. And I've already said a big thank you to both Rob and Wendy who took the time and effort to spell out what's actually happening. Others seem delighted to spend their time just wading in, insulting folks, and belittling the original poster (in this case me), when apparently they could have made the same effort to provide the real picture. As pointed out above by pandorum, the BSPA does itself no favours and there are loads who are naturally cycnical - and are perfectly entitled to be so. The sport should not be above the treatment that other sports are exposed to in National media (the sort of coverage speedway should be screaming for), but some people seem to think the sport is above that ... why? The latest bizarre happenings of the EL to PL conversion rate not being announced (although the return of the Y/B helmet colour was obviously very important), plus the latest realignment of the useless articifical points untactical joker (which proves how pointless it is), and now the mystery of the possible but not quite sure Aussie 5.00 or 7.00 assessed average just shows the BSPA to be a disorganised, dysfunctional bunch who dont even trust each other when they are trying to run their own sport. Enjoy whatever happens in 2015 - I can definitely live without it, and speedway won't miss me, the same way it hasn't missed the hundreds if not thousands who have already walked away. Speedway's solution is shrink-to-fit, throwing money into the pit with no sign of improvement to the overall state of the sport. The EL has lost both Eastbourne & Birmingham, and everyone accepts it. The PL has become almost as bad as the EL with multiple guests - and now the Aussie average saga ... why can't they just sit round a table, agree the strategy to adopt and then wait until the decision is made? So simple, yet they can't do it, and play political games which make them look (IMHO) fecking stupid. I don't care if you say good riddance and throw rotten eggs at me as I walk away - I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and then go looking for another target who dares to say anything that challenges the low quality, low-profile way the sport is run. Just wonder about whether the BSPA is doing anything to attract any new fans - not just a few, but hundreds of new long-term converts.

Thank You. I genuinely hadn't seen any of this stuff and was very tempted to be cynical because British Speedway is notoriously poor at delivering. I genuinely appreciate your response, and am happily put in my place. I'll eat a piece of humble pie - the cake offered by the house bully wasn't so appealing

I don't think they turned up the volume - it's more like they stuck their fingers in their ears and sat there saying "la, la, la, we're not listening". Considering they run their own sport, the BSPA is a splendidly disorganised and dysfunctional bunch.

To be fair, it appears that nobody really knows if anyone is "cheating" or not.

No idea!! It's genuinely hilarious that the BSPA runs the sport but the BSPA either doesn't know or can't agree on what's happening ... 5.00 might be in the rulebook, but it seems there's a chance this might not possibly, perhaps, be correct although no one is absolutely sure or they may be but they can't be certain and it's all open to interpretation speculation gossip accusations blame innocence and general confusion.

Why so angry!? I contacted the SCB yesterday, and have received this reply: "At the Agm it was clearly stated that a decision was required by UKBA. Maybe SOMERSET took a chance. When the UKBA decision is made the clubs will be officially informed."

They give each other a jist of who they want at the AGM. It's possible that this decision has been made as a result of a UKBA decision post-AGM, but the annoying thing is that they just don't bother to announce things officially - most of the time it's done in dribs & drabs by fan gossip and (amazingly) social media from apparently official Twitter accounts.
  10. The one good thing that's come of this is proof thats there's no longer a drop down - there's such an overlap that only the top two/three of most EL teams are deemed too good for the PL. Although it's an old rule, it makes a degree of sense, given that the 2014 EL race format gave Palm Toft potentially easier scoring opportunities than some of his PL heats.

Scunthorpe Speedway on Twitter: @SpeedwayScunny: Due to UKBA rules, as a club we were told that Austrailian riders would come in the the PL as assessed 7point riders for the 2015 season @SpeedwayScunny: due to this new 7 point ruling we had to drop our interest in two young Aussies we had an interest in Plain and simple.

It's only a troll if you say it is. I didn't "then say it was irony" because I said at the start, "forgive me for being cynical". Yes there was a degree of irony (harmless), but there was a self-confessed high level of (speedway authority induced) cynicism. If people interpret stuff the way they want then they can go ahead - and taking the mickey instead of answering with meaningful information is their own choice. For example: John Leslie could easily have said: "I think you're bang out of order with those comments, and here's the information about the track to prove it ...". Instead he chose to ridicule. There's irony somewhere in that, LOL No harm done from my perspective - my life hasn't changed as a result of this little joust

Not everyone - unless you and Tsunami are everyone?! Sorry, indeed, you got a couple of likes. Anyway, thank you for telling me how I think - I'll consult you next time I want to poke a bit of ironic fun (for which if begged forgiveness in advance) in case it doesn't fall within your tolerance levels And again, a big Thank You to Rob for responding purposefully and very helpfully ... much appreciated.

I said "forgive me for being cynical". You were downright rude. I asked a simple question, indeed tinged with cynicism, and thankfully Rob responded sensibly while all you could do was take the piddle. I hadn't done any digging (if you'll pardon the pun) and hadn't seen anything other than a simple drawing. You're welcome to find some easy targets for your derogatory comments if it cheers you up. Enjoy having your cake and eating it LOL.

To be fair, Compost Corner ain't any further from Foxhall than Arena, although the drive is considerably different. Those two tracks are worlds apart, and Foxhall is somewhere in between
