No difference at all and I think having retained (hopefully) a good sense of humour helps. If only my body was in the same condition as my mind it would be great.

Obviously taking over from SCB who was always going on about old people. I'd rather be old than have a mind like his.

Sorry you had this awful experience and if you are happy to have the Flu jab then that's your choice and I would probably change my mind if I had the same happen to me. I am definitely elderly but not weak ~ probably due to the fact I am out every day in the fresh air so don't really come into contact with anyones germs like if I worked in a hospital, school etc. Obviously doctors are going to push people to have the jab as they are being paid by the government but the text reminders I have on my phone are just deleted. Fingers crossed now that I get through another Winter.

Perhaps let us know it's worth having after you have had a Flu/cold free Winter? The Flu jab is not something I have ever had and I don't intend to as I have never had the Flu and can't remember the last time I had a cold. Just hope I am not tempting fate now.

Long time fans Rabbit and her husband stopped going. Admittedly only two but there were probably others who were affected by riding Thursday's instead of Wednesday's.

    Good Year / Bad Year

Yes he has because he's usually an out of control idiot. This is my 71st season and I am no longer up to waiting around for ages to watch racing. Leicester v Redcar on June 29th was the only match I have ever left after seeing only 2 heats and it was due to Bates causing Broc Nicol to have a broken collar bone and concussion because of an utterly reckless move on the 4th bend of the first lap. Due to medical cover there was a long wait for racing to resume but I left after an hour. The match eventually continued but only as far as heat 12 before it was abandoned. I gave the next few meetings a miss because I was so cheesed off but then went to the Glasgow one on August 17th. This was a double header with the Cubs riding against Cradley afterwards but again it was abandoned because of medical cover following a crash in heat 3. I haven't been back since but I'm glad the Lions are doing so well and hope they are champions. I never thought it would happen but my enthusiasm has been going downhill since Coventry finished as they were my team for 30 years.

    Good Year / Bad Year

Yes. No. No. Josh Bates ended my enthusiasm and I've only been to one match since.
  8. I'm sure he had at least one good season with Coventry and that included the time he put them first rather than attend the reception in Poland? Admittedly though he seemed to lack commitment sometimes and was probably not a rider you would want in the team the following year.

    Redcar v Leicester Semi final

Agree. There should be a limit to how long guests can be used for an injured rider.
  10. If I remember correctly ~ although I'm probably wrong ~ I think KK put Coventry first in this case and missed the Civic Reception, which was quite surprising considering his reputation?

    Grand Prix numbers

Thank goodness for that as I was beginning to think I was the only one who understood he was being sarcastic.
  12. Bruce had Alzeimers towards the end of his life and died in 2006. I have photos in my Speedway albums on Facebook of Bruce, Charlie Barsby and Alan Cowland at a Leicester reunion in November 2004. Charlie was my favourite rider and only ever rode for the Leicester Hunters throughout his career. He died this year aged 88. Very sadly Alan committed suicide only 2 months after the reunion.
  13. Remember when Nicki Pedersen took him and the other Coventry rider off like skittles in one move? Billy wasn't very happy.

    Brandon Update

Sorry you are asking the impossible now. Any old memory cells have long been pushed out to accommodate new information like why did I just go out to the garage or upstairs. The only match that has stuck in my memory is the Middlesbrough one (spelt correctly this time) when they refused to ride and Long Eaton won 75-zero. Oh...and another one when Ove Fundin and his wife were guests of honour. Beautiful sunny June evening but the track had been over watered and the match cancelled. Can't remember who the opponents were.

    Brandon Update

Afraid I agree with this. I very much doubt if I will ever drive down the M69 again to Brandon.

    Brandon Update

Yes and me. Used to go over there from Leicester on my little Honda 50 motorbike. Great fish and chips shop on Station Road too.
  17. I've quite often needed a 'Shocked' smilie like Facebook have because Like, Thank you, Confused or Sad doesn't quite cover it.

    Poole 2020

Usually the second half of a season but even that has been dodgy this year.

    Brandon Update

    And Long Eaton.

    Redcar v Leicester Semi final

You have obviously not read about Leicester's attempts to run double headers this season? It will probably be a miracle if the 2 Cubs matches are completed.
  21. Gemini

    Redcar v Leicester Semi final

I don't think it is anything to do with that. Leicester fans have never seemed interested in starting threads about matches on here and there aren't many who are members anyway. Good luck to both teams and I'm wondering if Lions might regret having picked Redcar rather than Somerset at the end of the 2 matches. . Broc Nicol should do fine at Leicester and won't have to worry about being on the track with that mad sod Josh Bates this time.

    Poole v Ipswich today

I am neither needy nor insecure and don't post what I had for tea so your perception is wrong for the majority of people. Love Facebook and a lot of the groups are great ~ umpteen Speedway ones, Border Collies, German Shepherds etc. It's also a good way to keep in touch with relatives and friends who live miles away so you rarely see them.
  24. Okay fair enough. I just get fed up with the continual negative posts about speedway from gustix who probably last went to a meeting in the 1930's. We all know the sport has lost umpteen tracks over the years and I notice he has changed the wording on the original post, which is what I saw 9 hours ago and you probably didn't, so it now reads completely differently to what it did before and what I based my comment on.
  25. Oh great ~ just what we needed ~ another negative topic. Why don't you have a cup of tea and then take a walk outside in the sunshine, listen to the birds singing and relax.
