He keeps investing. This year.. a new scoreboard.. new stand.. additional lighting... all out said back pocket. I'm sure he's aware of the PA issues and I'm sure he'll work to put it right.

Scunthorpe Scorpions V Workington Comets 29/3/24
Albert replied to paul84's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Totally agree... music was awful. I think Rob did appear on the centre green with mic in hand, perhaps by then the speakers had given up the ghost or perhaps the guy in the control box had gone awol?? -
Poole Glasgow Redcar ................... Berwick/Scunthorpe/Edinburgh/Oxford/Workington (in no particular order) .................... Plymouth

Granted, not the strongest line up..... It's gonna need some riders to up their game, that's for sure. With no Dougie, it just looks like a Scorpions team of yesteryear... But that's what we got, we'll support them whatever... Up the Scorps.

Please No.... Happy where we are

Bomber bringing off Douglas was racing... and fair play to Bomber, he knew it......however, that move by Vissing on Ablitt was wreckless -

Great nights entertainment... Scorps just too good tonight. Lovely to see Allen, Ablitt and Kemp hit some form, credit to them. Harris and Basso fantastic for the Tigers... less said about Vissing, that wipe out on Ablitt, naughty! -
Good Friday 7.4.23 - Scunny vs Redcar
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Enjoyable meeting.. one or two outstanding heats. Scunny edged it mainly due to the efforts of Dougy, Tofty and Allen.. Credit to Redcar though, particularly Wrighty.... they just missed someone that could match his point scoring contribution... on another day King would do much better... and how much did they miss Erik Riss???? -
I get what your saying, it was the right thing to do then.. look back to 2005.. 10 Elite League Teams. 15 Premier League Teams. 12 Conference League Teams. A meaningful set of fixtures for all. Speedway wasn't on it's arse like it is now.

We need to encourage Mildenhall and Kent to join the Championship. I'm sure Workington will make the jump once they've re-established themselves again. Scrap the NDL. Can always invent a proper, meaningful second half event for NDL standard riders. Just my opinion, don't shoot me.

Name and shame the three promoters.. They just delivered a huge blow not only to us supporters but riders as well. 11 home meetings, hardly worth bothering with.

10.6.22 - Scunny v Glasgow, League

The rivalry goes back many years... mainly due to the clueless Devil Darren and his mates complete inability to accept banter as exactly that... banter. They've been bitter ever since.... and long may it continue -

29.04.2022 League: Scunny v Plymouth

He's well beyond stupid.... Every post he makes is designed to damage the credability of Scunthorpe Speedway. -
Scunny had the majority of race winners.. enough to normally win a meeting... the obvious weak links cost us tonight, too many 0's on the scorecard.

Amongst the supporters methinks... being in the box all those years was great, but I've missed the crack of being with mates in the crowd. -
Scunthorpe Scorpions 2022

I'm very grateful the town still has speedway team to support. Rob does a grand job keeping us afloat and providing us with a competitive 'home' team. My comment was a generalisation of all things 'Scunthorpe'. Like many Northern towns, we get treated like an Industrial outpost, a wasteland Central Government rarely takes much notice of when it comes to funding. A hard, run down town, its had its fair share of knocks over the years...but with that, it's bred a degree of apathy... we're expected to accept whatever you get, and we generally do. For what its worth, I think the team Rob has put together is a big improvement on the one that started last year. I didn't get to any meetings last year, but very much looking forward to attending next. -

Its a Scunny thing... whatever the sport, whatever the issue.. its in our DNA to accept mediocrity, it'll never change. -

I'd agree with that (if, as we expect, its Aarnio).. maybe it be better to just announce the three heat leaders in one swoop -

Good signing, likeable lad, goes well round Scunny. If the team is more or less as rumoured, the only question mark left is whether its Aarnio or A.N.Other for 3rd heat leader spot. -
Unfortunately I've heard the same... That's me...I'm done... Scunny Speedway 50 years old today, it's played a major part of my life... I started supporting in 1974. Volunteering since the rebirth in 2005... Anyone want a crack at Incident Recording/Timekeeping get your applications in to the promotion... Its a good crack, you'll see sides to speedway general supporters don't see... And you get the best seat in the house! Over n out!

Some teams have managed to spark some interest and enthusiasm... and good luck to them. My team, no such thing, same old same old... If Jake comes over and rides for someone else, that'd be the final straw for me. I've never felt so despondent going into a new season. Think my time as a supporter/volunteer is coming to an end.
