Don’t think he ever scored more than 7

He had scores of   15..2010.             14....2011.     13...2012....                           14.....2015.                            Sometime ago,but it does show when bothered he can handle Monmore.    On saying that, Chris Holder then, isn't what Chris Holder is now.

Trying to get my head round this. The only conniving I can see is if Entain have agreed to sell Monmore Green to the Council, who then demolish it to build their larger facilty.

Otherwise if there is no change to Monmore Green stadium then it's as you were ?

Entain and Arena have already said they are going into a joint operation at Dunstall Park so horse and greyhound racing will be at the one facility, and with Wolverhampton council closing their depot at Culwell St there is nowhere near enough space to accommodate with what they're planning in today's Express & Star at the present fruit & veg wholesale market. The fleet of vehicles  alone which they are stating will be based there requires an enormous amount of land so really the only other viable space in Hickman Ave is Monmore Green which is right next door.

  3. So now we all know the real reason behind the decision there will be no more speedway at Monmore Green after this season. The Council have announced plans to demolish the next door wholesale market and build a new far larger facility that will include a new mixed use complex to incorporate vehicle fleet services, new market, meals on wheels operartion, salt storage with new electric vehicles, street sign opereration and office space to control all these facilities......      So this was the devious plan all along between Entain and Wolverhampton City Council to end a near 100 year reign to bring an end to Wolves speedway at their present home. Bare faced lies from Entain about needing a new track for Premier greyhound racing, and the council for saying they'll do all they can for Entain to change their mind and let speedway continue at the Green. Both organisations lying scumbags.

You could build 3 pit areas so each club had a permanent home pit area with club colours and riders signage. So say if wolves are riding a home fixture the cradley pits becomes the away pits and the Birmingham pits is for second halfers

then if two of the clubs rode each other they always retain their normal pit area.
If the stadium gets used three times a week rather than one is got to me much more viable.

But where would be the ideal location be.I suppose Sandwell is in the middle for the three teams, but Nigel Pearson tried that for Cradley(and came very close to getting one in Tividale).Would think there are empty brownfield sites around there, but persuading the council might be a different matter.

People saying that the greyhound track at Dunstall Park will replace Perry Barr. No way will there be two greyhound tracks in Wolverhampton. The new track will replace Perry Barr and Monmore.

That leaves Monmore Green vacant when the speedway closes and ripe for housing. Be nice to think when the dogs leave that speedway could take over Monmore, but no way would that stadium be financially viable if it’s just used for speedway 20+ times a year.

I wondered if a track and stadium could be created in East Park. Build it around the cycle speedway track that’s already there, and if the council are really keen to keep speedway in the town they could help develop a multi sport venue there, maybe with a leisure centre.

Apparently it's also emerged on Facebook that the fruit and veg wholesale market next door to Monmore will be turned into appartments.        That's not a good sign .

    That’s the spirit…………F…….ing idiot

He's one of several on here who hates everything Wolverhampton Speedway, and most of them are Coventry supporters.

Totally agree Tommy. Sadly this company will be banking on the profits from selling to a housing company and we will be into the same kind of long winded battle that Coventry are in. But if the council took over ownership of the site, then maybe they could lease it out to a speedway promoter, if the price was right

Yes of course, and as with Molineux with the Gallagher brothers putting in the money,so the same with Monmore it will also needs private investment  rather than  tax payers left with the burden.

The owners of Monmore Green, Entain, are in a joint venture with ARC who own a number of horse racing venues including Dunstall Park in Wolverhampton. Plans are now emerging to build a greyhound track at Dunstall Park which would almost certainly lead to the Monmore Green site being redeveloped for housing.

So if Entain leave Monmore, the council should serve notice that the ground that the stadium is build on should remain for sport purposes only, the same that was done with Molineux when Wolves nearly went into liquidation following the disastrous tenure of the Bhatti brothers and then by the Dougan consortium.

And also the end to speedway in Brum.   Plans submitted to build 600 houses on the Perry Bar site.

Probably bettter than Dudley council though, who have let all professional sport in the borough die through inaction.

Two peas from the same pod.Perhaps that's why we might be looking at South Staffs.

They have - also its worth noting that the promotion that put the NSS in place ran out of money! There was a lengthly interview in the star a while back with Chris and was it Gordon Pairman?

All the newer tracks that have survived have done so by building a track first and then a stadium / Facilities has to follow after!

And I believe  Leicester had a lot of help from the council in getting theirs up and running. Unfortunately don't think Wolverhampton council has the same drive and determination in helping us out in the same way.

What I was told last night, a site looked at was between Wolves and Cannock.   Wouldn't say i54 is between those to points tbh. ..Featherstone,Cheslyn Hay,Shareshill.???

Depends how you look at it. When driving to Cannock, I always go up the A449 to Gailey then the A5 so you could argue it fits the description perfectly.

Which ever way you look at it,to make it anywhere near viable financially, it would need to be a multi-sports arena.      Speedway alone would take years to get back any kind of return on the outlay .

To build a stadium from scratch I imagine would be beyond the resources of the current promotion, and there is absolutely no disrespect intended with that comment. They have kept 'my team'  going since 1984 so they have my utmost respect in that regard. Also out that way would the land actually, for planning purposes, be under the control of South Staffordshire rather than Wolverhampton council ? Having said that both Wolverhmapton and  Souh Staffs have colloborated over the i54 business park. Perhaps Wolverhampton Cuncil could give some 'assistance' a la the NSS in Manchester, which of course would be controversial with voters.

That narrows it down then, the only place I can think is along the M54 by the new I54 business park. Not much residential around there but is it too far out for some? Any closer though and I fear it would never get planning consent.

Always thought some where near the JLR plant was a possibility, nearest houses are Pendeford, but probably far enough away for noise concerns.

It'd only be the usual can't say too much, a lot going on behind the scenes etc. etc. Blah blah blah

From what I was told last night, they've looked at a possible piece of land somewhere between Wolverhampton and Cannock. If there's any truth in it dunno.

Belle Vue went for the bonus point and nearly ended up winning again. Bewley getting injured, and then Wright and Lidsey bike failures in 14 & 15 finished that off.

Belle Vue shown they can do Wolves over 2 legs comfortably twice now.

Lots  of falls but rubbish racing, only 1 pass in the whole meeting after 2nd bend  and that was heat 15. Zero outside line and even the ‘Karlsson corridor’ wasn’t working, just had to ride mid track and no one getting past.

And if only the horse hadn't stopped to do a s##t he'd have won the race, and if only had Becker been fit it would have been more that 1 point from his rides.

What puzzled me the most when they were discussing it on Eurosport was Nicholls & Tatum suggesting that the favourites to land him would be Wolves! As if it was a given that they'd be riding next year

If that happens can see it only being at Birmingham (if they're still running) for a season. Can't see in the time remaining how they can put together all the facilities required for a new track.

  18. Woofy has already stated he would like to be involved with Wolves if they could find a few acres of land that would incorporate motocross .Personally can't see that happening, unless they cross the border into South Staffs where possibly there's room next to the i54 site.                                                              PS...Entail have reiterated they won't be changing their mind about Monmore.
