    Lady Speedway Riders

Well I have to say I do not recall a Miss Terry at Hackney. There was a Mark Terry in 1984, and we had a couple of lady speedway riders in the late eighties and early nineties doing second halves at Hackney and riding for the Earlybird Hawks. We had Maxine Hill and probably the greatest female speedway rider everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr in the world and that was Katie Mason, wooooo hoooooo !

    Ace Of Herts

What makes you think Len refuses to spend money? Len pays all riders who ride the same money, the standard PL money. The riders may get more from sponsorship deals they have. You would be amazed at the riders who don't want to ride in any individual meetings. It is so hard to get them to ride in mid summer and yes I can say I have first hand experience on that. If Rye get crap a crowd then next year there may be no Ace of Herts of even worse no speedway if the crowds would have been crap this year! You have a choice if you stay at home, hopefully you will next year all season. People have a choice, I have a choice and I will go to Rye tonight. It's the final meeting of the season, what do you expect, a 16 heat world class individual meeting, get a grip Chris or just stay away next year and that way we won't have your continual Rye bashing every week.

    Plrc

Not sure but Is Tai the youngest PLRC winner? And Tai is at the moment anyway, currently CLRC & PLRC champion! Is that another first?
  4. Are you saying Dave Jessups lame? Yes your right Mr Shadders, I agree. The only thing thus far is the format, that will probably be it's saving grace.

    E L R C -

Disagree. A British final at Coventry that was rained off in the late seventies/early eightes they refunded monies. It can be done on the night if "people power" is used, which I recall on this night in question it was. I suppose one problem is now at many tracks you can pay by your debit/credit card and we all know how long a refund can take on them! We do all know we take a chance going to a meeting if the weather is ify, basically as sancho say "you pay's your money and you take chance".
  6. Well, think all at Rye will have other ideas on that. Tai Woffinden is awesome, virtually unbeatable at Rye and although qualifying is the main aim, Woffinden by a whisker for me!

    Colin Sanders

Great to here Colin is back in the UK. Although nothing to do with Hackney reunion there is a great bit on Colin on the hackney reunion website. www.hackneyreunion.com.

    Memories Of Waterden Road

Hackney, what a place. One of the best nights was Tadpoles & Fenn’s reunion. Awesome night! The old stadium! What a place! The track, second to none, sorry TMC disagree about Belle Vue, Hackney was a far better track. Surprised Mr Tadpole has not been on here. I do understand that Len Silver’s autobiography is due out later this year, what about a reunion launch Tadpole?
  10. All roads will lead to Rye House for Stuarts meeting on the 29th September. Jason Crump has indicated his intentions on wanting to ride, unless other speedway commitments get in the way. This should be a cracker and with Stuart being the real winner, be there!

For all the bad that was said about Rye House on Monday this is utter rubish. Bad lighting, bads track for one of the top meetings in the UK, well done Kings Lynn!
  12. I know we should not wish time away, but I cannot wait for this meeting. May I remind everyone this meeting will go along way to help Robbo with some much needed money, so let's keep this meeting in the spotlight!

  15. I am aware this should be under another heading but mod’s I feel it is important it stays so as many people as possible see this. I hope I am not saying something that has already been posted. The dates for the German GP have changed. It is now a week later, the 13th October 2007. I know loads of people have to book holidays and hence the reason I feel the importance of this item being under general speedway. This also means the Czech Golden helmet dates have changed. It will now be the week before, the 6th October, not the 13th. Mod Note :- The sections are there for a reason. Post moved to correct section Anyone could claim it was 'important as many people as possible' saw one of their posts. people looking for GP info look in the GP section

Edinburgh point blankly refuse to hold a collection because it does not benefit them.

Ace Of Herts @ Rye House

Thought that was Sunday Shazzybird, unless he's haveing a practice is he?

Ace Of Herts @ Rye House

Well, it does look a bit of a cheapskate type of meeting. More emphasise seems this year to be on the fireworks than has been in the past. I guess with free kids this week and fireworks Len hopes they will buy some fish & chips. But, yes there’s always a but, when Len has run the Vic Harding meeting a similar format has been used. I understand the reason for twelve riders and not sixteen in that, Len has had trouble getting riders to ride, simple! They don’t want to ride individual meetings, and for the standard Premier League money, which Rye House pays to ALL their riders. But of course whatever type of final meeting Rye hold it will have it’s knockers. Personally how I wish we could have the ‘Champions Chase’ to finish the season like we had a Hackney, those where the days! Could even tempt Steve Lomas [who] to ride I bet………..

Agreed. However a big thank-you should also go to Edinburgh, the only club who refused to allow a collection. Shame on you Edinburgh!

    Antonin Kasper - Rip

What a shock! Life is indeed short, we all should live every day as if it’s our last! Toni Kasper was one of my Hackney idols, I only wish I could have told him that, face to face. Toni you made a lot of Hackney fans very happy. What a shame Zenon Plech and Toni Kasper where not in the same Hackney team together. There are some pictures of Toni Kasper on www.hackneyreunion.com Condolences to Antonin Senior and of course to family and friends of one time Hackney Hero Toni Kasper, RIP
  21. With Reading holding this years World team Cup will the back straight stand be open? I heard the reason for it being shut was because it had a roof and no stepped terracing. Our old friends at H & S refused them permission to open it. Arena have a similar stand complete with roof with no stepped terracing but they are allowed to have members of the paying public standing in there, so why not at Reading? I must admit for such a prestigious meeting as this, if the back straight stand is not open should the meeting actually be held there!
  22. Ed's riding for Eastbourne in the KOC on Saturday night.
  23. Well said Colin Richardson! Never thought I would here my self say or even write that! Better get out the smelling salts! Just goes to show with old age you mellow. Steve Weatherly as we all know, suffered terrible injuries in that crash. I’ve never spoken to Steve, although I have seen him several times especially at Eastbourne. The guys, who started running the Harding Memorial in memory of Vic, their thoughts are very much with Steve as well I’m sure. Finally, how important we support the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund. When your track holds a collection please give as generously as possible, it may just help one of your riders!
  24. Think Mr Silver has missed a trick here. I will be in the Rye House pub watching the England v Portugal game, why has Rye not opened up early so people can watch it on the televisions in the stadium's after all it's on BBC1 or ITV1....
  25. Well to my knowledge Steve has been frozen out because his average was not suitable to fit in with teams. Crazy! I know it's not a debate for this particular thread but surely with all these conitental no hopers he would have fitted in somwhere, oh I forgot he's English!
