    Rye House 2017

There are lots of unhappy people it seems with the possible move up into the Elite League. The promotion at Rye are clueless at times and they’ll need to treble if not quadruple their ideas up as well as the crowd if they have a fruit cake moment and go EL! If it was like the old British League One days when we had many ‘star’ names riding a different kettle of fish! But look at the current Elite league riders, most bar half a dozen or so includes the likes of Doyle 9.78 Iversen 9.02 Holder 8.58 Jonsson 8.45 Kasprzak 7.91 Zaga 7.48 Lindgren 7.21 Kasprzzak and Zaga do blow hot and cold. But so many riders double up, you’ve only got to look at the ELRC this year, half of the riders rode in the PL. Another interesting fact is the double up riders, look at their averages Cook 7.37 King 7.33 Masters 7.18 Lambert 7.08 Kennett 7.08 Tungate 6.37 Grajczonek 6.05 Not much of a difference. I’ve not included Harris 6.62 Nicholls 6.51 Woffinden 7.03 Morris 6.89 Garrity 6.00 Bridger 5.94 Lawson 5.74 The only answer is to have the Premier League and invite the Elite League teams to join. Rye House has basically lost my interest this year with their slow presentations as if no one has a care in the world. Will I return? Hopefully Warren Scott will be fully fit in 2017 to guide the Rockets in a professional manner unlike the clown of a promoter their this year. If he’s still there with all his yes men then I’ll probably go and get my weekly fix down the pub on a Saturday night. As for running mid-week, financial suicide!

    So You Want More Meetings!

Indeed agree Cityrebel. But most clubs nowadays seem to have mid-season breaks so it’s hardly surprising come October certain clubs struggle. Speedway could be minus Stoke who have cancelled their double header tomorrow as well. When you think in 2014 and 2015 Lakeside finished their season in August! Crazy! Bring back the 70's for a proper fix of methanol related speedway.

    Nl Pairs 16th October

I’ve become very disillusioned with speedway this year. My regular trips to Rye have become less and at the moment I really couldn’t give a dam about speedway anymore. Not renewed my Speedway Star subscription for the first time in nearly 50 years. What I can’t understand the fans seem just to be taken for granted. Are the people that run the once great sport I knew are so far stuck up their own backsides? They don’t give a dam about supporters! To think the BSPA website is showing an incorrect line-up just about sums it up for me. Had there have been a decent line-up then I’d have probably left my Londinium home but when the BSPA can’t even put an updated line-up I’ll not bother. I so hope I’m not lost to speedway but I really can’t see it getting any better with sport being run by Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, Statler and Waldorf! Infact the Muppets could probably run it better! http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Statler_and_Waldorf

    Kent V Eastbourne Playoffs

I was really looking forward to these two meetings over two legs. Then I find out this morning Danny Ayres for some reason isn’t available for the home fixture! So why on earth have the management of Kent Kings changed the day from a Monday to Friday? Firstly I’m not local to Central Park, like many others. I live in east London and it’s bad enough travelling to Central Park on a Monday, but at least it’s not as bad as the decision to change race nights to Friday! Is the Kent promotion expecting hundreds of extra people to travel to Central Park on a Friday? And why isn’t Danny Ayres riding? I can’t see a clash of fixtures with Glasgow so is there something going on here we don’t know about? Then of course low and behold Eastbourne has changed their race day to Friday for the second leg! I’m led to believe this is so Adam Ellis is available. Why on earth have Kent agreed to this change. Again as I’ve stated Friday isn’t a good day to travel from London or anywhere else in the southeast come to think of it! I’m a great believer in continuity and this just throws everything out of the window! With work commitments I’m unsure if I’ll be able to get to either legs, but if Danny Ayres isn’t riding it’s a bit of an anti-climax to be honest for me. With the greatest respect to his guest replacement Ben Hopwood he’s not a match for Ayres at Central Park. There’s been far too much of doubling-up riders missing from Kent’s teams over the last few seasons. I of course would not stop any rider wishing to progress but surely if the NL club ‘own’ the rider they should have first call on the services of this rider. But it doesn’t stop in the NL. Rye Houses Edward Kennett a Rockets asset yet when a Rye meeting is rearranged and his EL club have a fixture the Hoddesdon outfit loose out on his services. Yes there aren’t enough riders currently to go around but surely the BSPA need to sort this totally unacceptable situation out [amongst many other] for next season. So assuming no Danny Ayres on Friday and possibly the following Friday at Eastbourne should Edinburgh beat Ipswich in the playoffs. Just heard Danny Ayres is available now for next Friday! The question is if Len Silver or Chris Hunt where aware Ayres had a meeting for Glasgow why on earth change their race day or is it to accommodate Adam Ellis? Somebody at CP needs to grow a pair! So whinge over, back to the subject in hand, Kent v Eastbourne. This’ll be a close affair. With Eastbourne having free practice at Central Park last Friday [how stupid is that] this could go to the wire. If Bowen, now Ayres and Shane’s can all fire, likewise with Thomas and Mason Kent could win this easily. However Thomas has gone a bit off the boil recently. Mason is usually good for 6 or so points, but my worry is the reserves Verge and Clifton. A very optimistic me says Kent on their day can win by at least 10, but Eastbourne are in good form at the moment and they’ll up there game. So I’m going for a draw!

Rye House V Newcastle Koc Semi 1st Leg

I’m just sick of the people who run speedway and that includes the BMR management team at Rye House. Why on earth arrange this meeting on the same night as that individual farce of doubling up riders in the so called Doubling up Riders Championship? I for one will be missing from Rye tonight, so that’s £16.00 missing, plus a five of my mates just can’t be bothered tonight like me, that’s a just under £100 they’ll be missing. Rye House I’m afraid is going down-hill fast, but expect the usual crowd to say how wonderful everything is at Rye! The place is a tip! For two years the millionaire owner was going to transform the Hoddesdon raceway, well it worse now than it was two years ago! Perhaps in the few last weeks a miracle has taken place. The, what was the Long Bar, is now a shining new motorcycle showroom. The awful wooden steps in front the announcers box is now a continuation of the stand by the pits. The first and second bends have now lovely terracing, likewise the back straight and third and fourth bend have the popup stands. It’s a disgrace and farce that Kennett isn’t there riding for his club in probably one of the most important meetings of the season for Rye. Well done Rye arranging the meeting tonight and Newcastle agreeing to it! I fear for Rye’s future. Yes I’m probably going to be blamed for their downfall by not going. Will I go next season? Unless speedway changes, which it won’t, it’ll be the same old and probably minus me! Not renewed my Speedway Star subscription which i've collected for 50 years, sad day...........

    Raiders V Isle Of Wight

Well it's not a double header and I may possibly have a mosey over to Hoddesdon for this, but dislike immensely the Sunday 6pm start! Looking at the Raiders recent form can’t see anything other than a Raider win. With both Messrs Branford & Morley in the NLRC at Leicester will one of these guys parade the rider’s Championship Trophy? Think this’ll be a twenty plus point win for the Raiders and let’s hope for some good racing

    Longest Meeting Ever

Recall a double header at London's White City in the seventies and I remember watching the last race (26th race) and after running to the nearby White City tube station to get the last train back to Stratford. It must have been near midnight finish, so could this be the latest ever finish to a meeting in the UK?

    Rye House 2016

I know it’s early but thinking into next season, but as Len has always announced his team before anyone else, I’d start the thread for Rockets 2016 [perhaps the old boy may take note from us ] Of the 2015 lot who’d I keep? Top of that list would be Nikolai Busk Jakobsen. He’s been brilliant this year and he could be a real number one next season. Next on the list would be Kasper Lykke. Been a bit unlucky with injuries this year and hopefully will steer clear next year of any injuries. Edward Kennett, if I’m honest I’m not sure. When he’s good he’s truly brilliant, but does have a habit of blowing out in heat 15. But he is a Rye asset with the swap that was concluded with the Jason Garrity swap earlier in the season. He must be due a testimonial soon, so he’ll probably be back. Steve Boxall, he’s another one who’s had a season finishing injury. Perhaps if his average is lower enough, he is a good second string/reserve but not a heat-leader. Robin Aspergren has filled a void, at times brilliant, others time like at Edinburgh utter rubbish, so time to move on I think. Luke Bowen has ridden really well since his break away early season. No doubt Len will have him back. I’ll upset loads of people by saying personally I wouldn’t. Another rider who hasn’t been brilliant but consistent is Anders Mellgren so I’d keep him. The German Danny Maassen, well the jury is still out. He rode well at Berwick, also scored points last Saturday at Rye. He was keen to come to England, has immaculate machinery and if he scores points for the remainder of the season worth considering! Of course all this will be pie in the sky if Rye go Elite, which has been a rumour circulating for a few months. I pray to god that doesn’t happen.

    Rye House V Plymouth 25/06/2016

Poor old Babs. Yes as always she was on top form again last night completely watching different races to everyone else in the stadium. I'm amazed she hasn't been charged by the sport’s governing bodies for bringing the sport into disrepute. She is an utter disgrace. Perhaps Babs could referee the British GP in a couple of weeks at Cardiff! The whole world not just Great Britain could see probably the worst speedway referee of all time! Rumour has it Bab's is going to be competing in the national welly throwing contest next month and she's 2-1bar to win that. Apparently she wanted to call the meeting off as it was wet and she didn't want the rain to spoil her hair, bit late for that Bab’s. Both sets of teams were prepared to give it a go and she reluctantly agreed. On a more serious note the Rye management still have a thing or two to learn though about running speedway. Having a full parade could have been a costly mistake if the rains had come five minutes earlier and heat 10 wouldn't have been able to be completed. That heavy shower was forecast for 8pm or there about and thankfully arrived 30 odd minutes later. There just seemed no urgency by the Steve Jetson feller. He seems to run the show in the absence of Warren Scott who I haven't seen at Rye this season. Also the track lights could have been put on for the last couple of races in my opinion. Or is the cynical side of me thinking they had hoped it would be called off early saving a few quid on electric and points’ money! I'll probably be banned now from the stadium for criticism against the management, which I believe to be justified. I've already stated on another thread that I'm not one of the people who have seen the big wow factor at Rye House this season. I have noticed a few other people have begun not to show the positive vibes against the Raiders lower end. It'll be interesting to see how much support the Raiders get at home as there are no Rockets matches now at Rye for a month. Back to last night, thought all the guys rode in difficult conditions and hats off to them for that. Surely it's only a matter of time now before Karger is dropped. You've got Rob Branford who would pick up more points than Karger sitting in the wings. I'm amazed Rob hasn't already signed for another PL team this season unless he can't double up and only ride as a guest? Anyone give a definitive answer on that? So if the heavy boys come knocking on my door and bar me from Rye hopefully I won't end up in the village. My name is John Drake (aka Dave Stummings) I'm not a number I'm a free man!

    Kent V Coventry 20th June

Amazed no thread on this and also amazed after Len usually calling off meetings early that the meeting is still on a 4pm. Lots of fans won’t go as they'll assume with all the rain, it's off! Why they won’t go? Because Len has set a precedence!
  11. With all the positive vibes that have been coming out of Rye House recently am I the only one that’s not quite feeling these same vibes? We all know last year saw a mass exodus of management, riders and staff. Some of which were indeed justified. So we bounce forward to just before the start of the season and the one remaining person from the shakeup left was team manager John Sampford and he’s basically shown the door a few weeks before the off. Also I’ve noticed Terry Eldridge has been missing for the last few meetings. Terry was almost an ever present there for many years. Hope he’s well, just wondering if he’s had enough? Another person who’s gone on the missing list is the charming feller that almost singled handily organised the car park. It’s a park “where you like now” and it will be only a matter of time before an entry/exit is blocked and an emergency service vehicle will need to gain entry to the stadium on race night and could well not be able to. I did see they were advertising for a car park attendant which obviously hasn’t had many if any takers. Surely this an H&S issue? Now we all know business is business and Warren Scott and his side kick the suited Penky feller have a business to run. Certainly Peter Schroeck has motivated the riders, which was very much needed to be fair. There are certainly a lot of new speedway supporters at Rye, probably from the BMR camp which can only be a good thing. BMR are indeed also spending money on the stadium which again was very much needed. But…… The wooden terracing by the starting gate is quite frankly in my opinion extremely dangerous and a major H&S issue. With planks of wood splintering and breaking. A couple of weeks ago I actually saw someone fall down when one of the planks broke as he put his foot on it. Also as its wooden this should be a no smoking area, as should the whole stadium in my opinion, but that’s not for debate today. Where this plank broke I noticed the repair was basically a bit of MDF just nailed onto to the offending broken plank covering up the damaged plank. This surely has to be a trip hazard? I also noticed on social media lots of people were raving about how good the track stood up to a double header last Monday. Really? The ‘blue groove’ was visible from around heat 10 of the first match and the track for the second half was again in my opinion very poor. That also asks the question why BMR decided to have a double header when we’re becoming a track that fluctuates between Saturday and Sunday fixtures. Speedway fans want a regular race night and if it’s coming towards the end of the season I can understand the reasoning for double headers, but not in the middle of summer for goodness sake and especially with the track struggling to deliver double headers. Sunday night speedway isn’t traditionally Rye House race day and what a time to start! Kids have school the next day and us olden’s have work to. If the catchment area was the Hoddesdon area fair enough but many don’t come from the area of Hoddesdon. Then of course we’ve the track shop fiasco. What a mitigating cock up that appears to be! There are of course two sides to every story but how the proprietors can just be told you’re not required here anymore, BMR are doing it is totally beyond me! Another thing I don’t quite understand is why you would put hard core on the bends of the training track on the centre green at Rye, unless they intend to tarmac the bends and back straight and put shale on these areas? I see the home straight hasn’t had hard core put on it. Yes there are new speedway people who are obviously enjoying their perhaps first taste of speedway. But for the more seasoned person like me I’m not too sure I fully understand what’s going on at Rye. Len ran it as a family business, Scotty and his side kick the suited Penky feller certainly aren’t. Rant over

    Hackney 1988

I see old Hackney Speedway are reliving the 1988 season with programme notes in full from each match and the Kestrel News to. Can't believe that was 26 years ago. I didn’t keep my programmes or Kestrel News from this era so it brings back great memories. I wait each Friday just like I used to read the programme and Kestrel News and especially Birdbrains column! http://www.hackneyspeedway.com

    Rye House 2016

Boy oh boy. Yes John Sampford wasn’t ever your pin up team manager, but he did and still does know the rule book inside out. It isn’t easy being a team manager, ask last year’s Witches Team Manager! But John has been a Rocket’s supporter since time began, well almost….. Both his parents were ardent Rockets supporters and when they passed away a few years apart I recall a minutes silence was held impeccably by the crowd and the riders alike for both his mum & dad. Speedway probably kept him going in what would have been dark times for John. But as they say time is a great healer. Jumping forward to now, well the new team manager, who was going to be one half of the team manager’s role is now solo. To my knowledge Peter hasn’t any experience as such in a team manager’s role and as I have already stated it isn’t as easy as people think. I’m all for a new promotion making changes, sweeping dead wood springs to mind. But they’ve gone far too far in my opinion. It started last year when the lovely turnstile girls disappeared. Then the paramedic who’s become a regular Simon Small disappeared. Remember this was the man who treated Simon Stead after that awful accident. Then the biggest of all the mistakes was the getting rid of Andrew Silver. What an absolute cock up made by BMR. Talking of BMR here I have another beef I and many other supports have to. Steve ‘Jangling Keys’ Jenson was at the start of the season the stadium manager. Then around the time of Andrews forced departure he became co-promoter. We all believed Warren Scott was the ‘main man’ and I’m told he still is, but thus far we’ve not heard a dicky bird [what a great umpire he was] from the main man at all, and virtually nothing from the ‘key man’ here Steve Jenson, who it appears is running the show on behalf of Scott. Well I think Scott needs beaming up, or beaming down to publically state what his plans are at Rye. I heard people say yesterday at the celebration of speedway ‘it’s complicated’ what’s going on at Rye. Having press statements should be from individuals, even if it’s from coco the clown [could he do a better job, probably?] but not from BMR! Anyway digressing away, after Andrew was told not to come back to the Hoddesdon raceway the NL team trundled on, minus Luke Chessell who obviously had also had enough. I’m guessing Andrew probably said words to the effect ride and get paid, well I’m assuming they all got paid, rumours did suggest otherwise at one time last season. Then the last meeting of the season the ‘Pair of Aces’ Len took a backward role, knowing full well this would be his last meeting at Rye. He was totally blanked that night. Outrageous! This man did have his bad points, [haven’t we all] but his heart and soul like John Sampford was Rye House speedway. They whoever BMR are could and should have at least laid something on for the old feller, even if it was thanking Len for all his hard work in 2015 if Len didn’t want it announced he was leaving Rye. But nothing! The close season and another monumental cock up of utter disbelief was the releasing of NBJ, unbelievable! I could go on, but for those who say you have to give the new promoters a chance, well the above quite frankly feels me with no hope for 2016. I wonder who’ll be next on the chopping block. I can understand a few mistakes by a rooky promoter but since Len sold to Warren Scott it’s been one ginormous cock after the other both on and off the track! Will I be going to Rye in 2016? Well yes I’ll start the season but I may get banned so if all of a sudden secret agent John Drake disappears from the terracing at Rye you’ll know what’s happened!

    Rye House 2016

What a monumental cock up by the current Rye House management! Could have had a spear head of Kennett and NBJ, throw in Lykke, Robbo, Lanham, Morley and Branford [Would that lot fit in the averages?] and it may have got my taste buds going. I'm so sorry for the crop of riders we have in 2016. It's not their fault, but together as a team it's Ronnie Russell era all over again! I want Rye to be successful, I enjoy my Saturday nights out at Hoddesdon but part of me wants it to fall flat on its face to be honest and that's not a good thing for a feller like me to be thinking, and I wonder how many others think the same way? I think they've hit the self destruct button, please tell me I'm wrong......

    Rye House 2016

Through thick and thin I’ve been travelling to Rye House since the late 60’s. I find the current dim wits who claim to be and I use the word very loosely ‘promoters’ total pants! As much I agreed it was time for Len to move over and let someone else take the helm, what on earth made him sell to the BMR bloke who quite honestly knows as much about speedway as I know about the dark side of the moon. Len new at the end of last season he wouldn’t be promoting at Rye this coming season as did the so called new owners. How discourteous to run the flopping Ace of Pairs and not to even acknowledges Len achievements at Rye allowing him to say his farewells. Now when the season starts I will all being well still be making my Saturday night trips to Hoddesdon and probably a Sunday to when the Raiders ride, but what a so stupid time to start at 6pm. Are these clowns totally mad! Do they not understand kids and adults have school and work on a Monday? Do they honestly think people have the money to possibly watch two meetings in successive days? I so hope I’m wrong with all this but this reminds me when Dave Pavitt sold Hackney to another clown who was clueless in Derek Howes and they closed mid-season. I so hope this don’t happen. I should be getting excited about Rye in 2016, but am I, well I think you know the answer which is the same as many Rye fans. The promoters have an awful lot to answer. Most of the criticism I’ve read on here are quite frankly justified. What should have happened is there should have been in depth press releases from BMR, not ‘oh by the way’ ones. A fans forum would have gone a long way to, either attended by 20 people or 200. Explanations are required on several issues, which I guess we’ll never really find out why people seem to be booted away and hung out to dry. But this total lack of proper press releases is in my view quite baffling! John Drake, News at Ten, Hoddesdon

    Rye House 2016

Well……..All the hype from the first meeting this year, with Len Silver saying publically that every week you come to the stadium you’ll see changes. Well indeed that turned out to be true after the geraniums where planted in front of the Long Bar, they grew each week. Then we had included in the Rockets team towards the end of the season Robert Lambert. OK he signed all be it for a couple of meetings [and he was a dead cert to ride for the Rockets in 2016] and lots of people thought the new promotion was putting their money where their mouth was. Then we had the crater in the entry to the car park filled in [after the season finished, strange that] and that really made everything nigh on perfect, that was until a week or so later when once again the crater began to reappear! The utter insane decision to release NBJ before Lambert signed is truly unbelievable and unforgivable! Surely John Sampford must have been asked his views or is he not required in 2016? NBJ is a future world star! This guy will without question seriously up his average in 2016 with Peterborough. NBJ was one of the highlights at Rye House in 2015, yet the new promotion tell him “he’s not wanted!” Are they serious in their intentions of having a successful team at Rye House? Have they learned nothing from 2015? Then of course there’s the issue on track preparation? Are we going to have a new track person or will the new promotion decide as a cost cutting exercise to do it themselves. After all, it’s easy to prepare a track, you just turn up, ride round in the tractor, water the track from time to time and hey presto it’s done! I really do fear for the Hoddesdon club in 2016. I so hope they’re not a circus act and if they are let’s hope they’re not clowns!
  18. Well its official…..Len Silver resigns as co-promoter at Rye. Shame no farewells, obviously major fractions with both Andrew & Len Silver between Warren Scott and Steve ‘Penk’ Jenson. Len Silver a very loyal man to both Hackney and Rye House he doesn’t deserve to leave Rye House in my opinion, in such a way.
  19. Dave Stummings

    Warren Scott

I would like to hear what the Rye House owner and co-promoter Warren Scott has to say and make a full honest statement about what’s been going on at Rye House. But it hasn’t just started this week. Let’s go back a couple of months. First of all, Simon Small the paramedic who has been very much involved at Rye House for a number of years left, or the organisation he worked for did. This man was instrumental in attending to Simon Stead after that horrendous track crash Steady had earlier in the season. Small arranged a collection for the air ambulance. Craig Saul interviewed him over the PA and all seemed to be rosy. Then he just disappeared! Then track spares man Dave Jessup left. Dave had been there in the pits since the off of the reborn Rockets. Sure we all decide to retire at some stage, but like Small, for Jessup to leave mid-season seems very bazar. Then on Monday Andrew Silver makes a statement on Facebook that he will no longer be the chairman of the Raiders, but will carry on and until a new team manager can be put into place. Let’s look here at the facts on Andrew. He put together at a very late stage a Raiders team who looked poor. On TalkSpeedway before the start of the season Andrew had a 30minute plus interview and he was so positive on the Raiders stating all the riders could up their game. On the same show Rob Branford basically said if it wasn’t Andrew in charge, he wouldn’t have rode at Rye this year. Five months on, Andrews charges have indeed progressed at a steady rate. Branford at NL level is almost unbeatable around Rye and the away circuits to. Some great words said by his Raiders include from Lukas Chessell Supper proud of everything you have done for myself the team and the Raiders! 110% commitment! I can't thank you enough Andrew. Gutted for you and Mia. Love you both loads Kyle Hughes You're the only reason I've been a different rider this year with the belief you put in me and the teams doing great so you better be finishing the season with us! Every rider who dons a Raiders race jacket rides with 100% effort. Silver junior has in my opinion been a breath of fresh air around Hoddesdon this year. An inspirational and invaluable member of the Rye House set up. I’m assuming Andrew is no longer running the training schools either, another major loss. So the inspirational Silver is replaced with [no disrespect intended] by John Sampford. He may know the rules but is he inspirational? Well yes as inspirational as a wet blanket! Had he have been the team manager last Sunday at Buxton, Raiders would have been beaten before they’d even arrived at Hi Edge. With regards to the Rockets, the move to bring in Robert Lambert has come at a time when he was released by Peterborough, but too late in the season to really benefit the senior team at Rye. But an extremely talented rider who I hope has a future at Rye House not just for this season. I do feel for Anders Mellgren. He was scoring points consistently but not enough and since the birth of his baby Robin Aspegren hasn’t been with it at all. So it’s a move that had to be made. But I don’t think this would have happened if Len Silver had been running Rye House alone. What has been lacking in my opinion in all of this is any statement from Warren Scott. It’s all very well Rye House making a public statement, but surely Scott needs to make a statement here, after all he is the stadium owner and co-promoter. All his statement that says ‘ BMR owner Warren Scott is already looking forward to that debut. “It’s virtually an understatement to say I am delighted and proud to have such an exceptional young talent as Robert on board as part of BMR and Rye House. His achievements to date speak for themselves, and we all know what his full potential could be. “Robert is just one part of our plans for the future, in what we see as being very exciting times.” I would imagine BMR has helped bring Robert Lambert to Rye House. I fully understand Rye House is a business, but part of any good business is listening and talking to your customers, in this case the paying public at Rye House Speedway. I’ve saw Mr Scott several times earlier this season but lately I’ve not seen at Rye House. I do accept there is ‘dead wood’ at Rye House and a new owner will change people, but I fear Mr Scott is getting rid of the wrong people. I hope Mr Scott will think twice before making brash decisions. There are obviously a lot of hostilities between lots of people at Rye House, some have either walked away or were pushed. I wonder who will be next?
  20. This is the problem when the Rye House promotion decides to put a meeting on the same night as the Raiders are away from home. I’d like to see Kyle Hughes riding instead on Maassen, but of course the Raiders are at Kent! Perhaps he’ll ride on Saturday at Rye? Whoever the guest is it’ll be a tall order for them. But let’s look on the bright side. 1. As well as the lovely flowers as you walk in front of the long bar, there’s another temporary stand appeared on the second bend. 2. The raffle will take place at heat 2. 3. No doubt we’ll have the dulcet tones of John Strong while Craig is away. 4. Len will through a lucky £2 coin in the massive crowd [anyone notice yesterday was a lucky one pound coin?] 5. Len will welcome Robert Lambert and say nothing else. 6. Barbara Horley, bless her cotton socks, will be taking over as team manager from John Sampford and still officiate the meeting. After all women can multitask………. 7. They’ll be draft beer in the bars. 8. Andrew Silver & Luke Chessell will be guests of honour. Well you get the picture……

What has this to do with Rye House 2015? Yes NBJ was riding, but don't see why you've posted it here?

“I don’t believe it” This was an awful Rockets performance. We seem to blow hot and cold. Kennett on Thursday was awesome at Ipswich, rubbish on Friday for Lakeside, guested at Plymouth yesterday scoring six with a last race fall. He like the whole team seems to blow hot and cold. The starting by the Bandits was far better at counting to 3 and away, Rockets seemed not to catch on to that until after the interval. The referee was poor, again allowing starts that were clearly unsatisfactory she let go but to be fair she did pull a few back that were awfully bad. No doubt we’ll here the same old excuses. Please don’t come on and say the guys haven’t had a meeting in months! Apart from Bowen [why on earth persevere with him again] they’ve all been riding elsewhere regularly. With regards this Rockets team in 2015 it’s been injury jinxed yet again. I prefer my NL speedway if I’m honest, but will still go to see the Rockets. Nothing to race for this year, just pride and hopefully less injuries in 2016…………

Problem is Old Hawk Len Silver has lost the plot, Cearns I think lives in another world and manager Hunt isn’t in Stummo's view the right man for the job. Verge is way out of his depth as have been the other 3 pointers The crowds are well down on last season and the season before. Bet it's only around breakeven if they're lucky They couldn’t promote if they tried. No atmosphere in the place, although the few fans that are left do try to promote an atmosphere. Call me old fashion but they need the following 1. Raffle sellers walking around the stadium 2. A seller selling walking around with Speedway Star’s & Backtrack 3. A Supporters Club 4. Better presentation in between races, i.e. a person in the pits keeping the fans updated 5. A full parade of riders at 6:20 before the first race at 6.30 Mr Cearns I also believe wants EL racing every other Friday in 2016 with NL racing in between. Utter madness in my humble opinion. Perhaps the delays each week are for the club to go back to the council and ask for an extra 30 minutes? They are robbing both the riders of point’s money and the paying public of races. There lethargic way they run the meetings, not a care in the world. All in all it’s a very poor show at Central Park. The track has been awful from day one and I think I’ll be better spending my hard earned cash elsewhere.

Argh yes, Eastbourne last Sunday agaist Brum, Uncle Bob was on the track with his tractor after every race. Took 3 hours to compete the meeting and they had a interval! Think I'll stick with Uncle Len

    Referees

These current crop of referee’s especially Barbara 'panic' Horley are quite frankly a disgrace. The vast majority I recon bring speedway into disrepute. But while you have the numpty’s at the SCB in charge what else do you expect!
