Rye House V Berwick Sunday 24th August

This meeting I've now decided could go either way as Dave Robinson is the referee! Is he the worst ref ever?

Rye House V Berwick Sunday 24th August

Being it seems a Dads Army theme here as corporal Jones says 'don't panic, don't panic Berwick Bandits at 6 don't panic'. Perhaps I'll end up by soneone calling me a 'stupid boy' but I recon a easy Rye Housr win and Berwick are doomed I say doomed
  3. Very heavy rain showers the biggest threat to both teams tonight. Coming in from the west so take your brollies with you.
  4. The season goes from bad to worse. Woeful Rye House and woefully pathetic promotion. Should never have let the Frenchman go. Wish well to Anders, a fit Melgren in the 2015 Rockets I hope.
  5. No thread yet, can't imagine why. Another slaughter tonight. Is this the worst Rye House team ever? Stumo recons at least a 20 point win for the rebels. Happy days.......... Not!

    Somerset V Rye 08.08.14

I can see the press release now. Same as all the others. Excuse will be poor Eddie was injured. Anders is coming back from injury Steve Boxall had bike trouble Rye weren't gating Luke had a off night etc etc. Why get rid of the Frenchman? Like Anders but to much expected to soon. God almighty Silver, your past your sell by date and ruining Rye House as Ronnie Russell did.
  7. Looking at the BSPA website there's no mention of this match. Have I missed something here? Surely the old boy hasn't called it off already due to the weather forecast? Surely not that team GB are in the WTC final???????? If it is because of team GB in the final I see it's being held locally in Bydgoszcz in Poland over 900 miles away!

    Rye House 2014

They say you become blinkered when you go to the same place on a regular basis. I like many other fall into that trap. My visits to Rye House are the same virtually every week. Park the Stummo mobile pay to the delightful young ladies at the turnstiles. Walk to my position at the starting gate terracing. Maybe get some supper from the fish bar, although that’s quite a rarity now. So last week in the drizzle I decided to have a walk around the stadium [why last week heavens knows] to view the racing from a different position. Conclusions are the start terracing is probably the best place to view racing from. What did concern me around the rest of the stadium was the general condition of the old place on the bends. The seats that were put in a couple or three seasons ago needed a bit of TLC as do some of the structures they’re fixed on, large weeds seem to be getting hold in certain areas. The back straight seems a bit too close for comfort to view racing should a rider or riders decide to have an argument with the safety fence. With a new air fence on order for the 2014 Rockets, plus any other club who want to share the Hoddesdon raceway [i refer to Midland Development League Milton Keynes as they rode here this year] I wonder what the view will be like from the bends. I know the arguments will linger on as to whether Rye needs an air fence [or similar] but the FIM say, and Rye along with every other league track have to play ball. Of course I guess that could potentially include Iwade [sittingbourne] if they hold junior meetings? Of the 2013 Rockets who’ll stay and who’ll go? Oliver Allen no doubt will stay to spearhead the team, although he wouldn’t be my number one choice. Jason Bunyan should he decide to continue racing then I hope it’s at Rye. Anders Mellgren, he’s not had a gooder season as I expected. He seems to have been lacking a bit of power. Maybe the new silencers are affecting him and he’ll bounce back next year. As a Rye asset now I expect to see him back next year. Tyson Nelson, as long as he wants to return and gets his visa’s all sorted hope he’ll be back. Pontus Aspgren, hope he’ll don a rockets jacket in 2014. Kasper Lykke hasn’t lived up to expectations, needs to up his gating and expect him to be riding elsewhere in 2014. Jason Garrity 2013 season was going to be a good year for him until that broken leg at Sheffield. Will be very surprised to see him racing anymore this year but expect a fully fit Garrity to do well next year. So who will Hinge & Bracket [that’s Lenny Silver & Johnny Sampford, whose who though? You decide] pick for the 2014 season? Interestingly the current averages, unless I’m wrong and I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, are:- Mellgren 8.77 Aspgren 5.25 Nelson 5.99 Garrity 5.35 Allen 8.77 Bunyan 5.73 39.86 So by my reckoning one of those six has to go assuming the points limit is kept to 42? I’d like to see Allen released and Josh Grajczonek in as a replacement. His average surprisingly is lower than Allen’s at 7.53. So that’s my thoughts and no doubt some will think otherwise of the mighty words of Stummo!

    Rye V Newcastle 2nd August.

Interestly at Glasgow this afternoon (Sunday) the supporter club are still running a coach to Berwick next Saturday, it seems they're out of the loop and saying they're still riding at Berwick next Saturday!

    Arena Essex V Kent Kings.

Anyone that thinks Lakeside will run a NL team next year, unless a double header with a EL match [not that the EL will run next year] you're living in a dream world, like many many other people on this forum. The debate on £12 entry is a good one. I think its expensive also. It's okay for Bryn to support the management, which he always does, he usually gets a lift and doesn't pay to get in or for a programme and probably gets a free cupps or two to! Not that I have a problem with that Bryn before you challenge the statement. I know you do a lot of work for speedway in general and that has to be applauded. All I'm saying is £12 plus a couple of quid for a proggy is expensive. Its that price at Central Park and is it worth the money? I'm fully aware rents have to be paid, riders travel, points money, ref, paramedic etc etc, but perhaps the landlords of many stadiums up and down the country need to reduce their charges they charge the speedway. If you look at the standard of riders currently in the EL the admission money alone is way to high, that should be £12, not the £17 you currently have to pay to watch Lakeside. But of course we all know a lot of clubs are losing money. Even by reducing the entry, numbers really don't increase, you only have to look at Birmingham! Community, thats where speedway lacks. A massive Polish community in and around east London and Essex. The expats from Poland have their local radio stations, newspapers. Anything about Lakeside mentioned? Well several of my work colleagues who are Poles tell me not, nothing, diddly squat on speedway. Do the promoters really go out into the local area's and promote there speedway team? Many a promoter won't give out free or reduced tickets incase it's a regular that uses that ticket. What I would say is when Arena Essex opened its doors for free against Poole a few years back-thats when we had quality riders in the EL- the place was packed, the most I've ever seen at Arena/Lakeside. Perhaps pricing has something to do with it, the quality of the riders and racing then follow through.
  11. No Luke Bowen for the Rockets. Can Rye turn their season around? Well no in a nutshell.........

    Kent Laurels 21st July 2014

Hardly missed a meeting last year. Started this season up until about a month ago and haven't been since. As for being foolish, how'd you work that one out? Am I not entitled to a opinion? As I've stated many times before the set up at Central Park leaves a lot to be desired. One race last night I'm told was the best race at Central Park. Wow....... What about the other 17? It needs PL racing to get a better overal quality of rider and needs a decent track curator. You may think Kent is great, and if you do that's fantastic. Personally I don't!

    Kent Laurels 21st July 2014

What a field indeed, are you serious! 12 riders 15 heats, two semi's and a final. Going to struggle getting that done by 8:30. Really have fallen out of love with Kent, such a shame as it could be run so much better.......
  14. Well the Stummo car is being dusted down as we speak by the chauffeur (that's the Mrs) and I'm looking forward to a days racing, weather permitting of course. As for the gaps between meetings, dear oh dear. Bring a book, read the speedway star, get a cuppa or a beer, talk to people! The people who get to the track a hour early, what do they do? You'll be wanting the meeting to start at your convience next!

    Kent V Cradley 14/7

PA system is crap Bryn. My last visit was against Stoke and wondering around the stadium it was exactly the same as it was for their very first bank holiday meeting in 2013.

    Kent V Cradley 14/7

I'm afraid I've lost interest at Kent, like many others. A new club, waining interest, bad presentation and a promotion who will hopefully be replaced next year!

Panthers V Rye House (pl) Tues 8/7/14

Re the post about the fast track riders in the Elite League. It was put forward,so I believe, it would fast track riders would go into the Premier League, but the PL promotes chucked it out and the EL took on the mantle.

Panthers V Rye House (pl) Tues 8/7/14

Yes works same way going out. It virtually only a couple of minutes from the A1. Was planning this one, but with a combination of weather and a lousy promotion, team manager and team I'll probably not bother.....

Panthers V Rye House (pl) Tues 8/7/14

No Garrity. A big thrashing I suspect now. Dodgy burger I guess. Garrity Ruled Out of Peterborough Clash The Silver Ski Rockets have been rocked by the late withdrawal of Jason Garrity ahead of tonights Premier League fixture at Peterborough. The Cardiff GP reserve has been laid low with food poisoning, with the Rockets forced to operate Rider-Replacement as cover. More positively, Rye will welcome back Mathieu Tresarrieu, who was committed to a World Longtrack Qualifier in France at the weekend, and will have a second former Panther on show in Jason Bunyan, who missed Marchs successful visit to the Showground due to his preparations for the Auckland GP. Rye House team: Luke Bowen, Steve Boxall, Jason Bunyan, Jason Garrity R/R, Edward Kennett (captain), Stefan Nielsen, Mathieu Tresarrieu Peterborough team: Nicki Barrett, Lasse Bjerre, Lewis Blackbird, Ales Dryml, Ryan Fisher, Joe Jacobs, Ulrich Ostergaard (captain)

    Rye House V Workington... 5th July, 7pm

Think throwing tres out is a bit harsh. He rode well at Ipswich and Sheffield. Bowen will ride for Rye as long as Len is promoter. Boxall is a good second string, but yes can understand your statement about replacing him. Will be interesting to see with Anders Mellgren riding in Lukes meeting if Len brings him in. I do feel sorry for the team, not there fault Len totally mucked up. Jason Bunyan for me is the one I feel for. Chucked out as being the captain, don't believe he resigned, yet still rides with as much determination as ever. Len has gotta move over and let another person run Rye House, that's providing Len don't charge a arm and a leg which knowing Len he will. So either next year we will run with the same team or no speedway at all in my view.

That was Pete Jordison. A Rye stalwart. That was one great bit of PR. At least Rye House have got something right this year but not for the Rye faithful but the visitor lol

    Rye House V Workington... 5th July, 7pm

The story so far this season has been I believe down to several things. Firstly Kennett hasn't performed as expected. Come to think about it, he's gone downhill since the incident at Lakeside a couple of seasons ago. Not a number 1 in this league. Boxall is a good second string but to much expected plus the usual bilke issues we come to expect. Tres I think has done okay tbh. He's done what I expected, really good on the bigger tracks. Luke Bowen, 10 year servant a very loyal servant but stale at Rye. Needs to move on. Jason Garrity, good second string, 100% trier but perhaps he thinks he's better than he is. Jason Bunyan, is riding well guys. He's consistant scoring points at reserve, was excellent so I'm told at Sheffield. Stefan Nielsen will take time bed in, but neatly had the beating of Rene Bach tonight. So what's wrong with the team. Len Silver needs to explain why he's put together a team for the second season running way below the points limit. It's cheap and they need a out and out number 1. It never generally works when a rider returns to a club he's previously ridden for. Kennett a classic example. He didn't exactly set Berwick alight last year, the signs were there but the old boy Silver ignored them. I don't blame any individual rider, the team was put together by Silver. Mr Motivator, the boring lacklustre stopwatch bloke should resign. He's the team manager and in any other business he'd go. We know he's only got the job because he's Lens chauffeur for the away matches. Total crap at Rye House and I really fear for the future at Hoddesfon unless Len moves to one side.

As it happens the racing isn't to bad, infact quite good, but everything, else well.............and meeting usually over by about 9ish

Panthers V Rye House (pl) Tues 8/7/14

Another club in Peterborough who seem to change promoters every couple of years. Wish we could have a change of promoter at Rye House and have a enthustic team manager who currently is probably one of the most boring and demotivating people in speedway! Thinking about it that's why I've become Victor Meldrew of Rye House.

    Rye House V Workington... 5th July, 7pm

As I've said before I've not been bothering either. Len really needs to smell the roses here. The place is awfully run at the moment and more and more people will turn there back on Rye House. I hope for the sake of the Workington fans it's on as they've an away fixture headache of the highest degree. The sooner Hazel & Len move on and allow fresh blood to run the speedway the better, but realistically that ain't going happen.
