    Rye House V Workington... 5th July, 7pm

This’ll be another early call off, with the pub winning the day. Fixture problems are becoming evident once again and especially as this is another Saturday night track, so either expect a double header with Redcar on the 30th July or another Wednesday night at Hoddesdon. Although looking at the BBC forecast for Saturday, the mighty never wrong Stummo may be wrong in his predication. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2646807 The decisions to call of some of this year’s fixtures at Rye have been to say the least questionable. Last Saturday was a rather nice day I seem to recall, as have some of the other cancelled matches, where Stummo ends up supping a few beers down my local. People get out of the habit of going and don’t basically come back, which is a shame, but as I’ve stated many times Rye House is dead of any real atmosphere, food, beer, presentation etc. So my prediction for Saturday night is a few pints of Spitfire or similar ale whether Rye is on or off…..happy days

Well looks like I missed I good meeting. Got both the Kent and Eastbourne predications wrong :-)

Becoming Victor Meldrew and not going to Kent tonight. Went last week and the racing was, well, not very good. With travel costs, poor presentation, [just like Rye House] admission and no Lambert I just don't fancy it. Hardly missed a meeting there last year, like many others becoming disorientated with speedway in general. Its a great shame as I've been a speedway supporter for many many years. Last season we had the Mason/Compton/Kirby shenanigans,Silver need to change the lower team end of the team this season seems strange.I thought young Luke Harris was worthy of a reserve spot. Wish I lived nearer Wolverhampton, that's where i'd be every Tuesday to go and watch Cradley each week. Good race track and fantastic presentation, thats all I want, is that so much to ask for? Young Ben Morley's form seems to have dipped in the last few weeks so lets hope he's on top form tonight. Mason, Chessell and Aaron Baseby will need to be winning races with the reserves scoring a few. Rose, Cockle and to a lesser extent Widman and Owen will need to score points and with R/R for Darren Mallett could be there weak link. So the armchair supporter who has decided to watch Uncle Bob's lot on the tele instead of Kent predicts a Kent win and for the record a Eastbourne win to.

    Rye House V Redcar 28.06.13

Certaiy they were the rumours at Lakeside last Friday, let's hope it's just a rumour and nothing else,

    Rye House V Redcar 28.06.13

Most of the riders are nice out of their working environment. Tres rode very well at ippo the other night, probably his best meeting of the season. A combination of a former track and a track with some dirt in it. Bunyan also looked fast. As did Kennett, Boxall, Garrity and to a certain extent do did Bowen. Rye has produced good racing overall this year, but think how much better a bit more dirt at Rye would benifit the riders and the paying public? That's a win win situation surely? But of course the old codger won't be bothered about entertainment, presentation, quality food, draft beer, tiding up the stadium, getting each race sponsored, changing the team etc. It's hard to beleive this is the same promoter from a few years ago. Time is catching us all up. It really is time for a major major clear out. Perhaps the rumours about the go kart track being made bigger and swallowing up the speedway track are true hence the old boy is slowely winding the old place down.
  6. So it’s the match of the season at Rye House this Saturday night, the longest day the 21st June! How the Rockets fans look forward to seeing the Glasgow Tigers. How time flies it only seem last week that the Tigers of Glasgow were in town. With the Rockets on a run of fantastic form, certainly the form team of the season thus far, sitting top of the league and I can’t see anything other than a big Rye House win here. In the real world I’m asking myself can I be bothered after seeing Glasgow last week, to go and see Glasgow again this week? What bad planning by Hinge & Bracket! At the moment the weather forecast is fine for Saturday, so looks like Stummo will be down my local , unless I can be persuaded otherwise
  7. Wow! That's going to make such a difference. The new captain will get all the other riders going, lift the spirits of the other 6 riders. Yer dream on. Silver has totally lost it, sick to death of saying it. Didn't go to Rye House last night, spent the evening in my local. Think that's it for me now at Rye House. So that's another £18 lost each week now out of Silvers pocket. Oh and the snotty Hazels pocket to. Grrrrrrrrrr
  8. Have to say the announcer Craig Saul does a excellent job. He does try to give as much information as possible. When there is a long delay he's seen running into the pits to grab a rider or two for a interview. So why not employ a roving mike man? The guy at Cradley Heath alone probably adds people on the gate. Oh for presentation of riders on there bikes before the meeting, a proper centre green draw (notice the 50-50 draw figure gets lower every week) a programme that's different year on year (been the same since 2002) a team manager with some guts and determination, it's not a lot to ask for, or is it?

    Useless Bspa

BSPA site says Somerset 3 points Rye House Nil yet they were at Edinburgh. Utterly useless!

Edinburgh Vs Rye House (20th Of June)

Spot on Shadders. I'd have been at Edinburgh for this, but the idiot of a promoter we have agreed to Redcar's request to cancel the Redcar match on Thursday. I'd booked time of work, but certainly will not be making a one off trip to Edinburgh. Funny isn't it, Glasgow would change this Saturday's fixture because they were on a tour, says it all really

    Kent V Devon 16/6

Well I won't be making the trip down the A2 from work to see what had the makings of a great Monday night out last year. With a crap track thats just not improved, presentation that's decidly iffy (non exsistant) I'll stay at home and watch the British Final on tele and save my coppers. Sorry Kent but until improvements are made I think you've seen the last of me this season.
  12. Even the local press (see below) seem to think what we all know. When is Silver going to smell the roses for gods sake! "It was a strange meeting which never sparked into life, plagued by a poor attendance and a dusty track which left those punters who had paid good money to watch probably wishing they had stayed at home." Nl Pairs

Making the journey up the M11 soon to watch the NL Pairs. Really is open as to who is likely to win. I guess Mildenhall will probably be slight favourites as it's being held on their own track. Let's hope for a good meeting, one thing for certain is it's presentation will be first class unlike Rye House!
  14. Recon Rye House will start as underdogs here. Expecting all the usual excuses from Hinge & Bracket. How in earth Silver can say his team are giving a 100%, what poppy cock. Feel like I'm taking over from Chris here on this forum, who incidenty has been rather quite over the last few months, perhaps he no longer, like many others just can't be bothered to go to Rye!

Redcar V Rye House 19th June - Off

Absolute cobblers Redcar! I can't change me leave at work. Accept if rain effected but this crap about poor Redcar, shouldn't have agreed to run the meeting months ago not 10 days before, a discrace!
  16. With the weather forecast not to clever for Saturday plus no Mr Garrity or Mr Fench plus Mr Boxall needs time to sort out his engines can only see Hinge & Bracket calling this one off early doors. If it runs a easy Sonerset win here.

Redcar V Rye House 19th June - Off

Well I have booked two days off for Redcar and Edinburgh. Hotel for the night in Redcar and Edinburgh then the journey home on the Saturday for Rye House. Okay I can cancel the hotels, but not my leave at work. I'm fumming Silver has agreed to cancel this, surely he had a say in the matter? Redcar should have canceled as soon as the England fixture was released. I'm really becoming totally cheesed of with speedway. I'm so unhappy with the way Rye House is being run and this just about tops it for me. Edinburgh for a one off, no thanks. Right now I really feel like walking away from Rye House and speedway in general. But I have said this before and still go to Rye, but this just may have been the straw that broke the camels bacl!

Rye House V Somerset 7th June

The £ note issue is as stated the main reason for a lack of quality riders. But remember the revenue for each meeting isn't all straight into Lens pocket. There's medical cover, that don't come cheap, there is travel money for the Rye riders, insurances, bonds, stadium running costs, shale, rates, etc etc. What is the answer? Well we know when ever a outside co-promoter has come in in the past they haven't lasted very long. I guess Colin Pratt was the longest. So Len needs to do what Bob Dugard does, get someone to run the team and Lenny looks after the track. Certainly the team manager has to be the most boring inept manager of any sport. When for example Raiders or Kent go to Buxton he's convinced the team they're beaton before they even arrive. So a complete clear out. But will it happen? Yes I think it will. Nobody will turn up to support the Rockets. Supporters are already walking with there feet by not turning up. Len will either drop down to the National League or get another outside party to run Rye, but by which time it will be to late and the fans will have found other things to do with there hard earned cash. Two years is the time limit and unless major changes are sought I recon Rye House Speedway will close and that will be it,
  19. Dave Stummings

Rye House V Somerset 7th June

Silver needs to replace virtually the whole team. Cheap cheap cheap and will ending up closing down because he hasn't a clue anymore. Get out now please Len, bring in a new younger promoter and team manager. Discusting performance, no doubt the usual excuses Eddie this, boxall that, plus all the other lame usual rubbish. At this rate the crowd will be down to only a handful each week. Such a shame Rye House is being wound down in my view

Rye House V Somerset 7th June

It would appear the rains haven't come to save Rye House from being thumped at home tonight. Can't see many people going either.

Kent V Coventry Mon 2nd June

Trouble here is, well several things. Track quite honestly is no better than last season, it's crap, simple as. The team is being led by young Morley with back up from Lambert, shame Compton is injured as with him plus Mason it's not a bad top four. Chessell I don't think will get any better and the two reserves only time will tell. The other thing that had put people of Is the utter rubbish bickering that's gone on between two individuals. Both in my opinion shouldn't talk about it freely on the www. That has stopped several people I know from attending in 2014. The fans are without doubt not attending in numbers like they did last season. Presentation is crap, as is the PA, so is the racing so quite honestly it needs a new managerial team, a new track curator and maybe fans will start coming back. But for those of us who know Len, there are two hopes for the above, Bob and his mate No Hope
  22. Sunday racing this week and Plymouth return in search of league points. Earlier in the season Plymouth won without to much difficulty at the Hoddesdon raceway. I have to say optimism is coming back with the Rye team and Stummo predicts a easy Rye House win.

Argh September 5th, that'll be the night before the individual speedway world final at Wembley....if only

    Lakeside V Poole Saturday 24th May 8pm

Well it's just been called off. Should have made that call much earlier to stop Poole fans traveling!
  25. Dave Stummings

    Lakeside V Poole Saturday 24th May 8pm

What utter tripe. There's riders riding in all 3 leagues in the UK, riders not available to two clubs, that's not right either when their clubs ride all on the same night. If you don't want Europeans there will only be the National League left. As for the four figure sum, that's the risk you take if your not insured!
