Swindon Robins 2020
The White Knight replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not surprised about this - I have been expecting it. Another historic Speedway Team down the swannee. I am desperately sorry for all those faithful 'Robins' fans. It is truly gut wrenching. I llike what they have written in their Statement, but in this current financial crisis in the Country, sadly I can't see it happening. I so very much hope that I am wrong. -
My copy is ordered as well.

I was browsing e--bay when I came across this. I was immediately suspicious as to their validity: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314134739717?hash=item4923e3bb05:g:iUUAAOSwdnNjFnbi&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsPM%2FEZKjcIn59TekxUz%2FaAhUg6e7EndMWnP%2B%2FssudEjRYxj8H%2BKgCTRZjnN47VDe%2FNyvujWSHpiNMPJRRZhScOBJ0K4RpPhJLOn%2B0zsX%2BLNei%2FJ6v4osrs0HuDVzEHWwcH4SJTVm5vQ4RoWrPuo9sZh9CXTCF35wogc4b4mlFeIXO1ixoaTgKj2WDkRPVEGE52w6EkDopJkJosOUSkcn4i4WJ0iqKGwC1YaCGeDlKsJs|tkp%3ABk9SR5L076XvYA PLAYER CIGARETTE CARD SET - SPEEDWAY RIDERS (1937) - 50 CARD SET - EX/CON. I think this should be a friendly Forum. I know I have had a few problems with some folk in the past. I sincerely hope that I didn't bully anyone and if anyone feels I did, then I apologise to them. When I see an elderly gentleman being harassed, and to use your expression, having the piss taken out of him, I have the right not to agree and to say so. Has it ever occurred to you that John may be the same as me - suffering from memory problems. I don't know if he is or not, but it is possible and isn't nice.

Sadly the unpleasantness goes on. I confirms to me why I don't bother very much any more. Sad really.

I'm fine apart from arthritis thanks. Hope you and yours are well too ch958. Yes, I have seen tthe houses - sadly I suspect that may be the end of the road for the 'Robins'. Personally, I think it is a bloody disgrace.

Me too Steve, all to sadly, nothing out of the normal though.

Backtrack & Classic Magazines
The White Knight replied to steve roberts's topic in Backtrack Magazine
Tony says he is in talks - we must await the result. Fingers crossed. -
On another Thread I queried a nickname of Arthur Forrest being known as the 'Black Prince'. Chunky kindly confirmed this for me. However this got me thinking (always a dangerous thing in my case ). I know that Speedway had loads of Riders who had these Nicknames like 'The Red Devil' - Frank Varey, 'Mighty' Mauger, Millen 'the Villain', Ronnie (Mirac) Moore I wonder how he got that name? Also 'Split' Waterman - how did he get saddled with that name? Anyway - I just thought it might be fun to see how many others we could come up with and, if possible, how those Nicknames were earned. Graeme Smith was known as 'The White Knight' - hence my name on this Forum. He rode in white leathers. :)

Me too. When I used to go.

Backtrack & Classic Magazines
The White Knight replied to steve roberts's topic in Backtrack Magazine
I do hope it is from the 'BackTrack' era. -
Me too. not sure why though?

Sunderland 'Saints' 1964. Sunderland 'Stars' 1971 to 1973. Sunderland 'Gladiators' 1974. Not bad for a Team that was on Track for only 4.5 years in total.

Not just you. Me too.

Backtrack & Classic Magazines
The White Knight replied to steve roberts's topic in Backtrack Magazine
I too have subscribed to both Backtrack and Classic Speedway Magazines. I am so sad that Tony and Susie feel unable to carry on with what, in my opinion, is a really good and professional Magazine. I loved all of the articles, as a 1970s Speedway enthusiast I think they are impossible to beat. I get a number of none Speedway related magazines but the two Speedway periodicals are the ones I look forward to the most. The '70s were a special time for me and Speedway and I love revelling in the memories evoked by both of these publications. I will miss my 'phonecalls to Backtrack, and talking to Susie when I renew my subscription. It was like talking to a family member. I would like to thank both Tony and Susie for all of their very hard work in producing these two wonderful magazines. I will miss them very, very much should they have to close down. Tony, Susie, I wish you every success in the future, you have kept me happy with my memories. I don't think I can give you higher praise than that. THANK YOU SO MUCH. -
My favourite piece of memorabilia is a 1964 Sunderland 'Saints' complete with year bar. I also have a winged wheel Peter Craven badge which I love. I don't think it is that old though.?

I am not sure which Section of the Forum to Post this on. If I am wrong I would be obliged if a Mod could move it to the correct Section. Thank you. Regarding the above Website. About two to three years ago scarletrider and myself used to run the content of the Sunderland Speedway Website. At that time we closed down the Site with the assistance of our Webmaster and surrendered the Domain Name. I was amazed to be contacted recently by our Webmaster to say that the Site was up and running again and asking whether we were responsible - we were NOT. (Neither of us would know how). Nobody was more surprised than us at this occurance. We would like to state that whoever has put this Site back on line has broken the Copyright of our Webdesigner and also the Copyright of the actual Content owned by scarletrider and myself. There are a lot of inaccuracies on the Site - Reunions advertised for 2015 for example - this is totally wrong. The historical content and photographic content is largely accurate but parts of the Site have been altered and parts removed. http://www.sunderlandspeedway.co.uk/ We just wanted everyone to be aware. Thank you.

Shocking news regarding Nigel Pearson. He will be very much missed by the Speedway Community as a whole. My sincere condolences to his family and his many friends. R.I.P. + Nigel.

Very sad news. I can remember Alistair riding for Berwick at Sunderland. R.I.P. + Alistair.

Should Laguta and Emil be kicked out of the GP Series?
The White Knight replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Have Sayfutdinov or Laguta indicated that they are going to change their citizenship? Very good post OveFundin. I agree 100%. If he wanted a photograph with this guy - that says it all for me. If there is a ban on poor disabled athletes in the Winter Olympics, and in most other Sports - Sayfutdinov and Laguta MUST be banned. Speedway is an Interrnational Sport and MUST join the sporting community in it's decisions, anything else would be unconsionable. -
Oxford back Are there any chance of other defunct tracks returning
The White Knight replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You forgot Sunderland. Thank you your Holiness. Let's hope so. Fingers crossed. -
