  1. Having read all the posts on this meeting I am extremely surprised that the person who seems to have escaped criticism is the referee. Rightly the Sheffield promotion should take a lot of the blame but I felt that the referee should have been much stronger with the culprits who were continually rolling (cheating) on several occasions got away with it. When the races were stopped it beggars belief that he could not see the culprit(s) and warn or disqualify them. Th crowds frustration was then further tested by opening the pit gate and the further delays to the meeting were totally unnecssary.

When will the powers that be learn!

Replace Bates with Shanes, if he will come

Replace Wright with Kye Thompson from Edinburgh, he was at Sheffield with Josh Pickering last Thursday anyway

Replace Batchelor with anyone that fits after that, about 7.2 or thereabouts, who ever it is cant be worse, they only have to score more than 4 or 5 at home to outscore Batchelor

We would at least have riders who will try, and can pass, if the track allows them to

I find the most annoying thing is that there is no visible effort from Troy, there is more effort in one race from Josh Pickering than we have seen all season from Troy

TRUE but they deliverer over 50,000 daily newspapers and a variety of other magazines. Their app has all the details (address) they need and we even have photos sent to us of the property where it has been delivered. The bottom line is that it is cheaper than Royal Mail and when every penny counts that has to be a major consideration.

Hi Phil, I've still not received last week's copy.

I'm quite happy to help you save money if we can get a reliable delivery from News Team, but the truth is , it really is difficult when you don't know when to expect the delivery

Polish media are reporting today that Nicki Pedersen will ride in Poland and Denmark if the +1 league rules stands - ruling him out of Sheffield.

In these uncertain times I wonder what the Sheffield team is likely to be thing do start again

Nicki & Jack?    will they appear if the Poles get away with their rule?

Josh                   is he going to ride in the UK?

    Todd we know has retired.

I worry about the strength when all this is finally cleared up.

  5. Well I finally received 2 Speedway Stars yesterday (18th and 25th Dec, so I feel that Pinegen ought to be able to claim some compensation from Royal Mail (or whoever it is). If this is First Class then why are they putting the price up by 9p from 1st Jan, what possible justification can there be?

Also I think Speedway Star should be congratulated on keeping the magazine going in such an interesting way, just keep the standard going when the racing resumes.

  6. When will this topic be moved (or merged) with the Championship.

Poole supporters need to realise that they are no longer in the top league!

Perhaps the reality is that without the demotion there may not be any speedway in Poole, so they are a very welcome addition to the Championship.

  7. Totally agree with 4thbender, I find it very difficult to understand how most promoters, as successful business men, seem to know so little about running speedway as a business. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if Mr Lomas is to be believed, some of  the Sheffield promotion team cannot accept criticism.

Without doubt there have been some serious mistakes made this year, the most serious being the belief that Josh Bates would only be out for a few weeks. Family loyalty has little place in business and most of the Sheffield crowd could see at the start of the season that Josh was carrying a very serious injury that would take months, not weeks, to clear.

I also fail to see how any Team Manager could seemingly not understand that the 3 and 4 pairing was extremely weak and would leak points, giving the opposition big advantages in at least 3 heats. Although I rate Broc I think it is extremely unfair to give him the pressure of Heat 14. In my opinion he has had a rough deal - why not swap Todd and Broc round in the team?

I have not seen any offensive abuse on this forum, in most cases it is simply constructive criticism. After such a successful season last year we are all extremely disappointed.

Yes I agree with you about the start time as as I would think 99.9 % of fans would but meetings running on to around 10 o’clock isn’t something that has just started to happen. Going back 50 years my uncle used to take me to Lynn when it used to be on a Saturday night and every week before the second half final we would have to go and stand on the third bend so we could get a quick getaway to get home to watch Match of the Day so this has been going on for years and personally it would take something much worse than this to stop me attending.

I do realise it’s a different world now and if my kids were round about 8 years old I would want them home and in bed before 10 with school the next day so I do see your point.

I started watching speedway at Sheffield in 1961. In those days Frank Varey started at 7:45 and very rarely finished later than 9:30. A meeting then consisted of 21 races and race times were almost 10 seconds slower.

In this case I long for the "good old days".
