  1. There is more strength in depth this year by tracking 3 heat leaders, rather than a very strong top 2, but in a stronger league Kent’s top 3 don’t match Oxford’s for example. The bottom 3 look a bit stronger for Kent too with a useful rider always at number 7, but then they’ve not picked up a rider who could double their average like Oxford, Leicester and Workington all have. The league looks slightly stronger next season with a higher points limit and less teams and in my opinion this Kent side is in for a struggle. But as long as they win at home to keep the fans happy.

Jenkins, Stoneman, Atkins, Killeen, Scott and Clouting return. Last rider to be announced in the new year

Killeen will definitely add the most points on his average in the league. 3 class heat leaders too (and probably the best 3 in the league). Those 4 alone will give them a PO spot! I hope Scott can maintain his form after an impressive start to his league career. Then no pressure on Clouting and the other new reserve.

Have to admit im underwhelmed by McGurks. Belle Vue let them slip away for a reason. Probably the worst away riders id seen all year but equally got averages for a reason and if looked after could be useful additions but can't help feeling they could be the undoing of a good side.

There was surprisingly very little progression from them this season but they’re still very young tbf. Even if they can’t find a bit of away form, the team should still be good enough to make the POs.

Yeah and I’ve put it on the confirmed signings thread.

Hopefully for dan t he can get a cl spot soon because nl of no benefit to him now, he was nearly unbeatable at most places season gone

That’s problem the biggest stumbling block to this team being successful. If Dan rightfully gets a Championship place and has to step back from the NL then his replacement is unlikely to be as strong as him.

  5. It’s not to rebuild a team after winning the league and having such a dominant season. But this Cubs side looks to have done it to a tea. Somehow they’ve kept the Thompson twins and they aren’t even in huge averages! Both will be near unbeatable at home and could top the 10 point average mark. Then in Perry, Boughen and James they have a trio who are definitely on a fast upwards trend. That’s not forgetting Foord & Spencer who have their moments, especially at home. It looks another strong team and potentially another league title.

Dan’s average in the Championship is so over inflated by his form at Leicester that he is a huge risk for any Championship team to take on .
Let’s be honest would any other club other then Leicester have taken Dan as a rising star in the Premiership ?

Yeah I understand that and each individual club have to look after their own business first. Therefore should Brits under 21 get a bigger reduction in average than Brits over 21? For example, 20%, and that might have made Dan a better proposition to promoters. But not just Dan, all young Brits.

I am told Dan is in the team because he has not got a championship side .

So he can get a Premiership place but not a Championship place?! He clearly needs a middle tier spot, rather than NL, for his overall development but that’s British Speedway all over!

  8. Congratulations to Diamonds85 who is this year's winner!! His winning team had big rises for Trigger, Perry & Freeman and around a point rises for Atkins and Bowtell whilst Morley & Sam McGurk stayed relatively static.

Lots of people were unlucky with Luke Killeen not getting a real average, which undoubtedly would've been quite high.

The highest averaged 3.00 rider ended up being Ace Pijper but the only person to pick him was Secsy1. The next best 3.00 man was Max Perry who was only selected by 2 people (myself and our winner). But 4 of you went for Ben Trigger, including the top 2, who nearly doubled his average. Otherwise the best option turned out to be Connor Coles who added nearly 3 points on his average. Meanwhile lots went for a combination of Crang, Ablitt & Atkins who all put on a point or just over to end on similar figures.

  9. The best signing that anyone could make in the NL! Between him & Boughen this year, they both showed that they’ll make a mockery of their average but Harrison starts on 2 points less. If the rest of the team is as rumoured it should be a good first year back.

Not sure what the limit will be

That team would probably win the league! But also highly illegal as Roynon’s average is now 8.67.

He wasn't stopped from riding at all he has been competing on the 250cc all summer in Europe and doing mdsl and Pjl on the 500. Only decision made was not to allow him to ride at NDL level until the European stuff was out of the way. He had one none riding appearance at no8 for Bellevue and turned down several other offers of guest or no8 bookings due to being to close to his other commitments. Also please remember he and a couple of others are replacing injured riders not taking someone else's spot.

I am nearly referring to the NL only. He was effectively stopped from rising by getting an average after 4 meetings.

As a family we chose not to let Luke get an average and certainly wouldn't of been swayed by any club dictating about the volume of meetings he would or wouldn't compete in . Our decisions are based on his development

I respect that decision. But this is where the rules allow lunacy when he’s effectively been stopped from riding over the late summer but can then come in to win someone a league or cup title!

  14. 2 hours ago, Al Stewart said:

I think it depends who is riding to some extent doesn't it? Is Bickley riding and if not is there a decent guest? Is Luke Harrison riding for Mildenhall? Or maybe even Berwick? Might Ashton Broughen come into it?

These are all important factors. Not much info available.

PS Just realised it is next week rather than today so the criticism of not much info is misplaced.

It’s a bit of a joke if the play-offs are decided by who can book the best 3.00 unattached reserve and then hope they honour the booking!

If BV had taken a facility, the rider would have landed a 28-day suspension, would have affected Poole, as well as the Colts (who might have got their point for the play-offs).   To their credit they chose to go with the blank space instead.

Is it really to their credit, when it short changed the paying fans (in person and online) from seeing a more competitive version of the Colts?

Personally don't agree with extending the cut-off date, they've had from March to September to race 7 home meetings, if you can't manage that - tough! You may miss out on the play-offs. However if you're good enough you can still make the top 4 (as Leicester have done) with 2 home matches to go!

It’s not Belle Vue’s fault though that Armadale find it harder than some to fit their home meetings in because Edinburgh have been successful this season.
