Quite apart from the poor team there’s one glaring issue that never gets mentioned and that’s the time it takes Newcastle speedway to run a meeting. Starting at 4pm and finishing at 6:30pm just isn’t acceptable. There were no major incidents just small delay after small delay mainly due to a lack of organisation. Why not water the track for example while the medical officer was with Wethers ! Instead we had a delay for both ! No skirting on the air fence, green light not working, tapes getting broken by the photographer. All silly little things that are down to a lack of professionalism. During the delays the entertainment is dire. Roy’s drivel bores anyone to death and he interviews a random bloke off a radio station, a fan who happened to be on the center green plus a basketball player! If you’re gonna have endless delays while people feed their faces on expensive burgers at least let’s hear from the riders or team managers. Overall it’s just a poor night out now !

rubbishe team. Simple as that! You get nowhere without proven heatleaders. Tsunami saying it’s decent apart from heat 13/15 is laughable. He’s been around speedway long enough to know those are the ones that count. Has he forgotten the cup final

Agreed, didn’t say I didn’t want them to run but with the press releases saying he’s gonna turn things around and bring the crowds back I’m sorry that team will bankrupt him

And that right there is your wooden spoon team. Nobody to win races consistently enough. Did they not learn this last season ? And now we have only one heatleader by the looks of it

Phillips is just not upto it full stop he averaged less than a point last season and hasn’t improved in a weaker league. Pretty sure George knows it but daddy’s money buys him a place.

Danny Phillips averaging 4?? The lads true average was around 0.25 in his last 15 matches for scunthorpe and wasn’t much better in his previous ones. He scores around 1 point every 10 rides and shouldn’t be given another chance at this level. Oh hang on, it’s a far less level now isn’t it. Dressing up 5 point men as heat leaders (Mat Wethers will be our number 3) let that sink in when you all said last years team was rubbishe when he was a reserve. Daft thing is this team will be mid table which proves they are serving up a weaker and weaker product every year

This team is worse than last years (yes I appreciate the averages are lower) but no matter who the last two are it’s not a team I would pay to watch. Year after year they dumb the sport down and expect us to keep paying for it, then start crying about low crowds. Come the end of the season “big changes” are going to be made at the AGM and guess what, they reduce the averages again to cut costs and ultimately cut the entertainment. The fact that people are wanting Danny Philips in the team when the lad couldn’t score a point all season reaffirms my point “oh the league is weaker so he will be ok”. Who wants to pay to see him ride round for laps when he’s had enough chances. The Sport is dead!

his performances away from home arent good enough to warrant a heat leader spot anymore, great servant to british speedway but its a sensible decision, you cant win anything with sentiment, younger blood needed

Would be disappointed if the brought Mark Lemon back. Im afraid at his age now he is never going to get back to full heat leader status, his away form was very poor last season. Hopefully they wont get sucked into thinking his average is a bargain, his isnt a false average it is a true reflection of his ability now, sad but true.

Couldnt agree more with the Dumbing down bit, they have done this for years and it reduces the quality of the racing, this years 6 point men would just become next years 8 point men and demand the higher money next year

every year promoters trott out the same thing about cutting costs, which basically means lowering the standard of teams to reduce wages. Its a vicious circle, reducing the standards further and further each year means the crowds drop even further, fans arent daft! Promoters need to be brave, set the standards high, attract the best riders back to the Elite league which will then filter some riders back to the premier and make it stronger. Yes it would cost more in wages but how about they try and PROMOTE.

personally couldnt agree more, Robson has done ok but not great certainly isnt a number one and that showed against somerset. Lemon has in all honesty been very poor this year especially away from home, they may be the top scorers but it is the improvement of the second strings and reserves that have won the league for newcastle this year. (yes they have won the league, americanised playoffs SUCK!!!)

trouble is it could be game over by then if they dont win at leicester! another nail in the play off coffin hopefully

newcastle have thought more about the convenience factor of arranging these matches with Somerset, rather than thinking about the best route to win the premier league, poor, very poor

speedway has long been regarded as a family sport but frankly it isnt. A family of four would be looking at £50 - £60 per week which they wouldnt pay. How many families of four do you see on the terraces? Speedway is a sport for single fellas or married couples who have been attending for years and stayed in the habit. Maybe you get the odd father and son combo but certainly very few families. More should be done to attract these people, every 2 adults attending should be allowed to bring their 2 kids in free. Look after the future

i guarantee that both teams will be severley depleted by the end of the 4th match and you will see 2 or 3 races completed with 3 riders only. Double headers on a cold night is bad news

havent been all season, thought i would wait until the playoffs as those are the only matches that seem to matter, but at £25 no chance!!!. Just cant afford that, i await non stop abuse now from people saying the likes of me are disloyal etc but the playoffs are supposed to attract the likes of me back to the sport but this is just a farce

[No, they have extended the season enough, this format is just daft, too many matches, if you are going to have playoffs make it semi and final, thats it, end of. Are leicester really going to pull in a huge crowd for a visit of newcastle which will decide precisely nothing ! ? just another pointless qualifier like the rest of the 24 league matches have proved to be !

crazy, just crazy, i really hope somerset do a double header with newcastle then it will just go to show how much of a farce speedway is now

Newcastle have won the league as far as im concerned, the fact that the team finishing 6th now has a good chance of winning it is an absolute shocker
