Yes. I am vey puzzled by Mulford. I used to see him riding for Belle Vue Colts regularly when I used to take Archie down and he was tremendous right from his first meeting. I thought he was going to be the next superstar. I speculated that he would be out of the reserve berth and straight into the team at Redcar last year, but he really struggled and stayed in the reserve berth and had a very low average. On song he is powerful and fast and could be a top rider, but he doest look like making it big time. It is a shame as he has got what it takes.

its the old story isn't it Dave, how many can we name whose star shone brightly but briefly. I wish him well not least because the Bears are inconsistent as hell

Apologies....for my rant last night...I got hammered and sulked/acted like an immature top-hat!

Of course, I don't blame LR for last nights poor performance....'weak' of me to point the finger....

You're quite right...I need to get down there and support, as opposed to criticize!

    we've all been there

edit - just looked at your posts. My god what were you drinking?

    Here is the statement

The owners of the Blunsdon venue have been quiet since April last year, but broke their silence to provide a statement offering 'clarification' during an extraordinary meeting held by St Andrews Parish Council, prompted by the latest planning application.

The statement, spanning two A4 pages, said: "We wish to be absolutely clear that the request currently under consideration by the council does not seek to remove the planning conditions which mandate the completion of the stadium complex.

"We understand the council's planning portal refers to the "deletion of speedway and greyhound racing requirements* - however, and importantly. our request seeks to remove the existing covenant that requires 'continuous operation of speedway and greyhound racing throughout the period of the milestones'.

"This request is made because it is no longer relevant given that speedway racing ceased at the site several years ago."

It is reiterated that Gaming International is asking for an updated milestone programme, deletion of the ultimate longstop, deletion of the speedway and greyhound racing covenant, and an updated land ownership position.

It adds: "The Deed of Variation request ultimately serves to update the current project timeline, update the details of the site owner, and reflect the fact that • motorsports racing has now permanently ended at the site.

The statement then says that the borough council granting this changes will allow them to move forward with the next steps of the new stadium build.

"A revised S106 agreement will, in fact, ensure the delivery and implementation of milestones 11 to 15 and secure a pathway to the sustainable regeneration of the site.

This includes finishing the acoustic fencing, demolishing the old site, adding a new car park, landscaping and handing over a new youth training facility.

"We understand the widespread interest in the future of the site and regret any confusion around the purpose of the Deed of Variation request," it adds.

The extraordinary meeting concluded with St Andrews Parish Council choosing to oppose the planning application.

    what does this mean then?

That is all true, but if the council are onside, surely that has to be a great boost! There must be some free land in Warwickshire? Actually, Workington must have needed council help, as the track, as I recall, was just a training track. Different to being a fully fledged league track, with traffic and parking to consider. And perhaps environmental issues.

the Worky land was never going to be used for anything ever

I would imagine the only thing Brandon estates would consider is a scaled down residential development that leaves the stadium intact and able to continue.

    Shades of Swindon though.

    up the bees

I have often wondered if this had been considered.

Yes, as soon as I saw someones kitchen window right next to the pits I knew the Robins were knackered

I know at one time last year development land was changing hands for in excess of £1 million pounds per acre, how big is the Brandon site ?.

its not development land if you can't get planning permission, reduces the value considerably

Perhaps there's something wrong with me but in my peak days of watching speedway - at Halifax in the late 60's and in the 70's - I attended religiously whether the team won or lost. It was entertainment, it was exciting and it was a way of life.

Deciding not to attend because your team is losing is like stopping going to the cinema just because you happened to see three bad films on the trot.

there are two types of fan - speedway fans and fans of a particular team only. I don't get the second lot - when Middlesbrough closed I watched Newcastle. Didn't particularly support them but it was racing.

When DeWayne Keeter joined Leicester but Ron Wilson persisted with him and by the end of the season he was picking plenty of points

in the days when there wasn't a blind panic to win at all costs and fans could appreciate even low scoring riders. I believe Lions had the same 1-7 for all but one of their fixtures that season

  9. why does he care if its viable or not so long as the rent's paid. Besides it was viable for donkeys years wasn't it?

If it was to re open the complaints about noise, parking, etc would pour in and that would be that
