Are there no pro Speedway Freemason's? -
Agree the facts of this case need to be known by other riders to avoid a similar situation arising. Also why has this taken so long to sort out?
-
There is currently an acute shortage of riders in the U.K. for every rider in the U.K. that doubles-up that's one rider short. I can easily see 6 double-up riders retiring @ the end of this season that's 12 team places alone! Any rider currently riding in Poland but not the U.K. will require big bucks to do so in 2023 so I don't see that as the solution. We must encourage U.K. talent to take up the sport & welcome our commonwealth cousins. The double-up situation should only be used as the last resort, riders may love it but for all other reasons it's a disaster for our once great sport.

Tuesday 6th September - Playoff First Leg - Plymouth v Poole
Ghosty replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Today the weather is very wet in Devon I can't see Tuesday being any different. I expect an early call off with plenty of photographic back-up. -

30th August - Plymouth v Redcar
Ghosty replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Interestingly that a couple of weeks ago Henry was quoted in the S/Star that there's no "i" in team, unfortunately there certainly is one in Atkins & Mike! -
Any news on the Plymouth "team" v Redcar please, What average would Mark Simmonds come in on?

Championship Pairs, Oxford.. Friday, 12th. August
Ghosty replied to auntie doris's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What has happened with the pairs only reflects the current state of G.B. speedway it's in dire straights & nobody on the BSP? seems to realise. Heads in the sand! -
Birmingham vs Oxford 20/7/22 (CJL)
Ghosty replied to Fozzie4388's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How many current Trackmen where around in 1976 (our last heat wave) & have experience of dealing with such track conditions in extreme weather conditions? Also "Shale" was of a fare superior quality back in the day. -
I can't see any option but to start in the National League. There is an acute shortage of riders for the championship not to mention their wage demands.
-
Question: with the regular crashes @ Mldenhall there seems to be a fundamental problem sharing the track with the stockcars. How about building a new speedway track along the existing & share the carpark & other existing facilities. Anybody got other ideas.

Poole Pirates vs Glasgow Tigers 13th July.
Ghosty replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hot weather = plenty of watering = Plenty of tyre packing by the water cart = slick track = gaters paradise! -
In this case Ipswich? so Poole wouldn't have had a say in the booking!
-
I see the admission price for the pairs is £12.99 that's fantastic as surely no one would want to pay £13.00!

Poole Pirates Vs Berwick Bandits 29/6/22
Ghosty replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Looks like Drew 118 saved the pirates ship from sinking tonight. The pirates 3x number one's didn't score as expected/required. However recent Poole results have made the Championship more open/interesting & a smaller wage bill for the Fords! -
It would seem the biggest problem with speedway in the U.K. is to much energy, money & effort is spent on getting the best team & making the play-offs etc.. When the biggest effort should be: 1. Attracting a paying crowd that makes a profit week on week. 2. Providing a exciting & entertaining evening for the crowd. 3. Address the desperate shortage of U.K. riders.

Is Henry Atkins a Plymouth "asset"? if so it would be good for the Gladiator's sell him @ the full Mike Atkins valuation!

BERWICK v MILDENHALL (NDL) Saturday, June 18th (7pm)
Ghosty replied to crescent girl's topic in National League Speedway
Interesting looking @ the reserves scores Berwick 12 Mildenhall 3. Looks like a good meeting for those present & both teams coming away with something. -
Spot on there Deanno, G.B. speedway needs at huge influx of riders just to give it any credibility. The fact is as things are riders love it - double the wage packets with little extra expense - they would not take to kindly to no doubling up!
-
The main reason we have a shortage of U.K. riders is because none are coming from the Grasstracks. Grasstrack is now less than 10% of what it was 20+ years ago when most of the top riders were tempted to have a go @ Speedway! P.S. The old style second half with junior races allowed "wan-a-be-stars" to show their talents.

Plymouth 'Centurions' vs Oxford 'Chargers' : National League : 14/06/2022
Ghosty replied to SpeedwayPortal's topic in National League Speedway
Now Oxford finally have Killeen on board & what a real talent he looks, do they now need Henry Atkins - I don't think so! or will Daddy buy his way in? I can't believe Henry was on the Oxford victory parade, maybe he is his fathers son! -
Plymouth 'Centurions' vs Oxford 'Chargers' : National League : 14/06/2022
Ghosty replied to SpeedwayPortal's topic in National League Speedway
Anyone know the actual line-ups for this Tuesday, I'm still deciding whether to make the trip or not. -
"If" Henry is transferred to Oxford will that then end Plymouth's option of a guest or R/R facility?
-
So surprise surprise Henry Atkins look's like he will finish up with the Oxford Chargers, the dilemma now for the Oxford management is what should they do: 1. Have a hot line from team manager to Mike Atkins to get any tactical moves approved. 2. Make Mike Atkins team manager so the team manager can't do anything that "might" upset the blue eyed boy avoiding the need for option 1. 3. Keep Mike Atkins clear of any contact with the boy during the meeting & let Henry succeed or fail on his own merits. All a bit tongue n' check folks, but H & M Atkins have previously let both Somerset & Plymouth down. Mike Atkins is not a bad person - but he's both Henry's best & worst influence. Good luck to Henry on his "predicted" move to Oxford & show everyone what you are capable of.
