Such a narrow minded view. Granted it won’t be the same, but to go from enjoying speedway (as I presume you do if you’re on this forum) to not watching it in your ‘back garden’ just because the bikes are electric is a bit crazy. What have you got such a big problem with that you’d completely flip like that? Noise? Smell?

All motor sports will need to evolve over the coming years, and speedway is no different. If the bikes need to be electric, so be it, I will still be watching (admittedly while no doubt reminiscing of the past).

That's your opinion, just like I have mine, not sure why you feel the need to call it narrow minded.

I'm not old enough to have followed speedway back in the 70/80s, so I don't know what it was like back then to compare, but it's still broadly the same sport as now.

Electric speedway would be completely different. I do enjoy the noise I have to say. The smell has pretty much gone in recent years. I just enjoy that speedway is pretty much a raw motorsport and I'd rather it stayed that way. Maybe I'd change my opinion if/when it happens but I'm not sure.

  2. A worrying article on a Polish website about FIM supporting the need to halve the emissions from speedway by 2030, and then eliminate them entirely by 2040. It sounds like it has the general support of our current SGP overlords too.

Hopefully it'll go the way of most of these commitments, but the vultures are circling I think, and we're probably not the only motorsport.

    Sad.

Yep it’s like announcing Nathan Ablitt another young lad making his way in the sport.

    Take a day of ffs.

     Welcome too Glasgow young man.

They're always happy to dish it out but perish the thought someone criticises their team. Worse than Scousers.

Sounds good in theory, but too many of the riders doubling up rely on it to make the sport pay.

All our own (British Speedway) doing unfortunately, and now we've made a rod for our own back.

PL heat leaders seemed quite happy for years and years, maybe wth the odd guest booking in the EL. Now we're expected to bend over backwards to give them 2 teams in broadly similar leagues. Painted ourselves into a corner.

Odd take. I think you’d find most Monarch’s fans would have him back.

That's why I'm asking the question. Your promotion said Etheridge was the "worst newcomer to the PL" and he's done alright since. My question is if Hook is closer to an Etheridge than a Penfold.

Given that in 2022 Chris Holder had a higher average than Woffinden, Doyle, Bewley and Jack Holder in Poland, and Janowski, Dudek and Lindgren  in Sweden I'd suggest he's hardly a spent force.

Which is not something I said. I think he's a level below being a genuine GP rider - which is still a fair achievement given his previous injuries - and he won't match Doyle in this country. Still a very good rider.

    Me too.

I was just saying that Sheffield don't have a reason to drop Ellis when the core of the 2022 team would've won the Double last season if it wasn't for Babs lol.

Holder will do a Doyle in this league imo.

Holder hasn't been the same since his big injury IMO, he'll score well but I doubt he'll match Doyle.

Doyle is still a GP rider whereas Holder is a level below that.

    How about?

    Redcar
    Kyle Howarth 8.36
    Charles Wright 7.40
    Danyon Hume 5.68
    Drew Kemp 5.20
    Anders Rowe 5.08
    Kyle Newman 4.29
    Jason Edwards 3.80
    Total 39.81

That is the worst team you've ever put together and there've been some stinkers.

Despite the success Drew has had with U19 and U21, and some of world meetings with Brennan and Bewley, it really is a mystery that in league matches he performs so poorly. Might be the bike, but I tend to think like you that sometimes he can't really be bothered.

Wonder if he got it in his head that he could just cruise through after his successful youth days. Even the best have to work harder than nearly everyone else.
