A worrying article on a Polish website about FIM supporting the need to halve the emissions from speedway by 2030, and then eliminate them entirely by 2040. It sounds like it has the general support of our current SGP overlords too.
Hopefully it'll go the way of most of these commitments, but the vultures are circling I think, and we're probably not the only motorsport.
Sad.

Years ago it probably made a difference, as Basso will most likely become way better than Lawson, but now it won't make much difference. Who's going to buy Basso off Glasgow in future? I can't imagine him even riding in this country before long.

It wouldn't be like Richard to move clubs ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶e̶t̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶l̶ to find a new found love for another club, after already signing for one.

I think he's sorting out Steve Worrall's holiday. Struggling to tell the difference between France and Orlando again

Take a day of ffs.
Welcome too Glasgow young man.
They're always happy to dish it out but perish the thought someone criticises their team. Worse than Scousers.

I reckon I might start selling badges and give up my job. Birmingham have gone from pleading poverty to being linked with Harris, Brennan, and Morris within months. Business must be booming!

All our own (British Speedway) doing unfortunately, and now we've made a rod for our own back.
PL heat leaders seemed quite happy for years and years, maybe wth the odd guest booking in the EL. Now we're expected to bend over backwards to give them 2 teams in broadly similar leagues. Painted ourselves into a corner.

So Swindon are working flat out to find a new track, despite already having a perfectly serviceable track.
Now they're going to be working flat out to get new track equipment, despite having just sold perfectly good track equipment.
They do love a challenge.

That's why I'm asking the question. Your promotion said Etheridge was the "worst newcomer to the PL" and he's done alright since. My question is if Hook is closer to an Etheridge than a Penfold.
-
Is Hook going to be a Jye Etheridge 'worst Australian ever' or is he genuinely just not very good? Seems a risk to bring him back on a 4 when he wasn't close to that last season.

Frightening consistency from Eddie.

And people tell us that British riders have no ambition

sorry, you’re wrong, he was officially declared as a Belle Vue rider on 3rd October. Only riders in a declared 1 - 7 are allowed to guest
I can assure you he wasn't.
-
1 hour ago, Call me wolfie said:Actually he did sign, wouldn’t have been allowed as a guest as he wasn’t riding in the UK
No, he was a guest in the second leg and that was it.

No Fred or Rose jokes - honest
Surely not *that* Mike West? The one that Andy Williams sung about in The Impossible Dream?

Just now, arnieg said:Given that in 2022 Chris Holder had a higher average than Woffinden, Doyle, Bewley and Jack Holder in Poland, and Janowski, Dudek and Lindgren in Sweden I'd suggest he's hardly a spent force.
Which is not something I said. I think he's a level below being a genuine GP rider - which is still a fair achievement given his previous injuries - and he won't match Doyle in this country. Still a very good rider.

I was just saying that Sheffield don't have a reason to drop Ellis when the core of the 2022 team would've won the Double last season if it wasn't for Babs lol.
Holder will do a Doyle in this league imo.
Holder hasn't been the same since his big injury IMO, he'll score well but I doubt he'll match Doyle.
Doyle is still a GP rider whereas Holder is a level below that.

He didn't sign, he was just a guest in the second leg.

Redcar Kyle Howarth 8.36 Charles Wright 7.40 Danyon Hume 5.68 Drew Kemp 5.20 Anders Rowe 5.08 Kyle Newman 4.29 Jason Edwards 3.80 Total 39.81 That is the worst team you've ever put together and there've been some stinkers.

Wonder if he got it in his head that he could just cruise through after his successful youth days. Even the best have to work harder than nearly everyone else.

I suppose Tony must've Transformed his clutch. It might be that Lee comes back next season with Avengence...
Is the end nigh?

That's your opinion, just like I have mine, not sure why you feel the need to call it narrow minded.
I'm not old enough to have followed speedway back in the 70/80s, so I don't know what it was like back then to compare, but it's still broadly the same sport as now.
Electric speedway would be completely different. I do enjoy the noise I have to say. The smell has pretty much gone in recent years. I just enjoy that speedway is pretty much a raw motorsport and I'd rather it stayed that way. Maybe I'd change my opinion if/when it happens but I'm not sure.
