Whats the mistake?
-
Jamrog should never have been picked in the 1st place. I dare say Woryna will be the same. Add to the fact we have signed King as a heat leader and a double upper, not managed to "convince" Garrity to do 4 meetings at the start of the season as a reserve, then its been a pretty shambolic winter.
-
Well, if we stick to our announced 1 to 7 that will be of no consequence to us.
-
To allow it to fall into a state of disrepair, much easier then to get planning permission.
-
There is nothing to tell, we will be fed a line, there will be an initial uproar when it comes to closing and then everything will drift away quietly.
-
For Coventry to win the title we need to hope that we have signed the good KK, that King performs a lot better as 3rd heatleader than he did last season. That Garrity can push to be 3rd heat leader and not miss too many matches, that the young Pole takes the league by storm and that our reserves make a big step up. The only thing that I can realistically see happening is that we are out of the running by the start of June, the season descends into a farce, KK is made a scapegoat. Brandon closes and no other track is found in Coventry or the surrounding area (I dont count Leicester as the surrounding area)

Woffinden was mentioned, it showed him leading a race, mentioned he had dominated the GP's and was a double world champion. Quite why Speedway fans get so uppity about this every year is beyond me...

Common concensus hey... So you are a promoter, you note that a rider of another team has not been included in the list, you then build an arguement to state he should be on the list knowing full well this potentially weakens them. Shambles. Its not even worth responding to the promoters cos its been proved over the many years they will not listen to the fans.

Mildly Interesting Speedway Trivia...
Sir Jasper replied to YerRopes's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Rick MIller appeared in the movie Inception. You all probably know that, however I didnt until watching and jumped out of my seat when I spotted him. -
Exactly what I have been saying. Poole for example, Newman moves into the team Andersen or Buczkowski could drop down to reserve without scoring too badly... Where as we have a young Pole.
-
Bates average has been confirmed by the promotion in this thread.
-
Yes, once we got rid of Jamrog and signed Kylmakorpi things looked up for us...
-
Going on last seasons form King is not a decent 3rd heat leader. he was decent as a 2nd string, him and JK swapping throughout the season gave us a decent platform as one of em would usually score decent from the 2nd string position, along with garrity from reserve.
-
Cant believe they have done that. I find it difficult to believe that Garrity coudnt be convinced to do 4 meetings at reserve, this could have meant either Garrity or a second string is always at reserve, meaning we have a strong reserve at all times. Instead we have Garrity in the main team, an unknown Pole and 2 reserves, our reserves have an EL average of 7 points, compare that to the "real averages" attained by Newman and Ellis in the last year, its nearly double.
-
Why was he not part of the draft? I think its fair to say after 4 meetings he would have been in the main body of the team meaning he would have been replaced by a second string. Meaning we have a strong reserve at all times. For example Poole have Newman, he could be moved in to the 1-5 and be replaced at reserve by Buczkowski.

KK is a proper enigma, he was brilliant for us in his 1st spell, not so great in his 2nd spell. I believe in his 1st spell for us he even had a decent meeting around Monmore Green. I probably would take a chance on him again if Havelock can get the best out of him, but I get the feeling Havelock isnt so keen. I just cant see who our heatleaders will be and find myself scratching my head as to why we didnt retain Kylmakorpi.
-
Does not look good for us posting any sort of decent team. Afew weeks back it was reported that we had made an early start to our preparations, then we here that nobody has been in touch with Bomber. Add to the fact our reserves look weak on paper, the fact that we are entering the final year at Brandon suggests to me financial outlay on riders will be at the minimum, fans will stop going, fans then blamed and the team sadly fades away and ceases to exist.
-
You cant blame the BSPA for that.
-
Thats why I cant understand he got so much grief....
-
This discussion as to next years throws a major spotlight on the BSPA decision making process. We are now coming to the end of the 2nd year meaning some like Garrity should be looking to progress into the main body of team, which I suppose is the intended aim. Say he didnt want to progress, and we offered him more money money to stay at reserve, that potentially gives us an advantage and crucially for the sport of the whole clogs up reserve spaces not allowing others the opportunity to have a go at it and hopefully progress their careers. What is the plan of the BSPA, Should we limit riders to a 2 year max stint as a 1st grade draft rider, ideally we should be looking to introduce Garrity into the main body of the team and Sarge becomes a 1st grade draft rider, leaving us to select a new 2nd grade drat rider.

I can see this working well for us. It's effectively a months loan of Freddie ( of he goes well) Riding in the play offs for a "new" team may just see him be a bit more fired up than when riding in a hum drum league meeting... If he recaptures his previous Brandon form then that will put us in a decent position.

OUCH!!!!

According to Peter Oakes, yes we have. He put it on Twitter today with a link to the story in the Daily Star.

So, we have failed in a bid to land Woffinden. That's a damn shame
