    Juniors At Cardif

Have you seen Auty race Greg? I wouldn't be so sure, but Bridger has had more competitive speedway experience and is older.

Trevor Redmond - Exeter And Aldershot?

His son Lee rode for Sheffield in 2001 I think, but never came back to England after breaking his leg.

    Graham Guthrie

What about the late, great Doug Adams? He did Sheffield and Bradford (occasionally) and halifax? As for graham guthrie, I typed his name into google as I was intrigued. Was he a stockcar promoter also? If so, this might be him: http://giswww1.bcit.ca/dkipling/images/Joh...GuthrieMiss.jpg I believe it is the same man, as on this website, http://www.nirwebzine.co.uk/History/bev%20History.htm it says that the stockcar Guthrie died in August1974. Speedway memories

Yeah, although Per wasn't generally liked at Odsal due to Reading beating us in the title and a clash with sean wilson, that move was beyond brilliant, and no wonder the odsal crowd got to their feet Jonssons injury still does upset me, he was a nice guy, and what happened to him was awful. The loss to speedway was also a great one. I cant help thinking that tony ricko might not have five world titles if jonsson had been around. I was only 13 at the time when we won at belle vue but a massive massive dukes fan and i loved the win there, it was majestic :!: :!: We walked past John Perrin on the way out and he was really angry. But didnt he use billy hamills rider replacement ride in a nominated race :?: I think it was legal but it was sneaky! Bobby Ott was an entertainer! At the fours one year, he was on two minutes so he went on the centre green to get to the tapes and the crowd booed. Mr showtime! Any other memories anybody? It will bring back other peoples happy memories! Its sent me nostalgic for odsal! im only 19 too. [/b]

    Most unexpected performance

A guy called Henny Kroeze flying Dutchman for halifax.... scored hardly any in his opening rides and went to reserve... promptly scored i think 19 and then the next week one of the first 21 point maximums riding in 7 out of 13 races!

    Speedway memories

What memories from speedway really stick in your mind the most :?: I have a few - An October league match at Bradford in 1992, important to the title race, last heat decider, Per jonsson and partner make the gate, but Simon Wigg and him clashed on the first bend, Jonsson went off and Reading lost as he was excluded! I still don't know whether jonsson fell or he was pushed. I also remember Dukes winning at Belle Vue in 1997 to almost seal the title! Sweet. the most bizarre was watching Hans Andersen at Belle Vvue cling onto his bike only by his arms with his legs at one side of the bike. He somehow stayed on :!: The overtaking moves that stick in my mind both involve Havvy and Joe Screen! Per jonsson dived between them in what was possibly the best race i have ever seen and Alan Grahame split them in a great manouevre in 1995!

    Former Riders

I found this, don't know if its old news! It was written 22 Sep 99 but people might not know that a speedway rider has been such a success! "A former Coventry speedway rider is a multi-millionaire after selling his hotel complex. John Harrhy, who rode for Coventry ‘Bees’ speedway team in the 1970s has sold the Windmill Village Hotel and Golf Club for £7 million to Roy Richards the Birmingham owner of the National Motorcycle Museum and the Manor Hotel, Meriden. The new purchase gives Mr Richards unrivalled facilities along the A45 corridor within a few miles of Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre. The National Motorcycle Museum sited on the slip road leading from the A45 to the M42 has extensive conference facilities and now Richards can offer attractive hotel accommodation and golfing facilities to conference delegates. Harrhy paid £200,000 for Windmill Farm in 1979. "I retired as a speedway rider in 1978 and bought this place a year later. It was derelict, but I did up the place and it is still the central core to the hotel complex. "It was a coaching inn in 1640 and a schoolhouse in the early 1800s. We found a lot of interesting artefacts when we opened up the cellars and we have mounted a little exhibition of the things we uncovered. "The cellars were converted into bars and then I built a village complex in which guests stay in their own self-contained cottage-style accommodation, each with its own parking space. "I built the nine hole golf course in 1990 and coupled with the leisure club it has become very popular." The new company takes over control of the Windmill Village Hotel and Golf Club on Friday and is expected to mount an extensive refurbishment programme. Harrhy says: "I don’t intend to retire. I am now looking to buy a golf club in this area for my sons Mark and Nigel to run.""

    Dukes v Aces

Im a Bradford fan, I never saw halifax and the best ever derby i saw was 1997 when the Dukes won 46-44 at Kirky lane in September to almost seal the EL title. we were leading 44-40 and in the last race Lyons and Hamill gated for Belle vue and it looked like a draw until screenie divebombed lyons on the first bend. As we were leaving, we walked past the pits, and John Perrin said "well at least the titles going up north!" :!: I think he was being a bit sarcastic. Anyway, what are other fans' favourite match between the two teams? My dad told me about a match at hyde road which i think we won 40-38 just before Kenny Carter died in 1986?
