    two formula 1 cars from the same team collide on the run in to the line and crash out of the race.  the referee doesn’t award either car points so why does he need to here?  was the race actually stopped?  i don’t recall the red lights coming on.  maybe the Lynn rider was past the stricken Leicester duo before the ref had a chance to put the red lights on.  i can see your point of view for sure.  another grey area is where two riders from the same team collide on the opening corner yet both are reinstated for the re run.  i don’t think the rule book is definitive in these kind of scenarios.  i doubt very much that the investigation will focus on heat 2.  for me the incident with the starting gate post will be the focus as this is clearly a safety issue where the heat should have been stopped immediately.  also the ref should have used the tv footage to catch kemp touching the tapes but this heat 2 incident is far too subjective IMHO

    The referee is not allowed to use video footage.

    The track was dreadful, the starting area was just ridiculous, gate four was so good nearly everyone won from it, you could count the number of genuine passes on one hand and gate 2 was as bad as gate 4 was good.

    Clearly both teams were suffering from match practice and it was close so it kept the meeting watchable.

    The Referee “Dave Watters” had three decisions to make all night and cocked them all up big time, the first when Kemp totally locked up and was collected by Thompson in heat 2 was frankly embarrassing, how on earth that wasn’t Kemp excluded, Thompson awarded second and Wojdylo third is anyone’s guess.

    Then we had the starting gate pole left out on track in heat 3 when it clearly obstructed Palm Toft, my understanding is these are not allowed any more, so that was missed by the start Marshall and the referee who both should have known that. Interestingly it wasn’t used again after that.

    And the third cock up was Kemp hitting the tapes in heat 14 which should have resulted in his exclusion but again the referee did nothing.

    BSN announced a FIM referee was also watching near the booth and was approached for his comments but declined to comment, I bet he did.
     

    Clearly the previous days weather didn’t help track preparation but why isn’t this track ever a decent racing strip which allows some kind of passing and close racing, despite many years and quite a few changes.

    I was also surprised that their didn’t appear to be too many watching for the first match of the season.

    He didnt lock up as such; he lost his chain.

    If no meetings were planned then there is zero chance of a rain off and zero chance of losing money! 
    Speedway should be every week from May to August,  no exceptions 

    That’s 16 weeks plus right there, fools!

    And there will still be rain offs

    WE have now received official confirmation that stadium owners Brandon Estates have not chosen to pursue a High Court challenge to the outcome of the recent planning inquiry.
    The appeal against the refusal of planning permission, arising from the November 2022 Planning Committee decision at Rugby Borough Council, was dismissed by inspector Helen Hockenhull in mid-January, after evidence from all parties had been heard last autumn.
    The remaining option available to the appellants would have been a Judicial Review based on a legal challenge (rather than a challenge to the decision itself).
    We understand speedway and stock car fans, and local residents, have been eager to know what might happen next, and there has been plenty of speculation; however, we had to wait for a six-week period to expire, which was the window in which the High Court challenge could be submitted.
    Recent correspondence with the Planning Inspectorate has confirmed there has been no challenge.
    We are naturally delighted that this marks the end of this particular part of the process, and also that our approach to each stage has been vindicated.
    We must once again place on record our thanks to everyone from the sporting and local community who stepped up in such spectacular numbers last summer to assist us with the cost of legal representation.
    Anyone who watched the planning inquiry, and will therefore now understand the way it was conducted, will have seen how being represented in this manner was crucial to our chances of success.
    Likewise to our witnesses and those who spoke in support of the stadium at the inquiry, your honesty and passion shone through under difficult scrutiny, and it is sincerely appreciated.
    There is now much for us to consider as a Campaign Group, doubtless with further meetings to be arranged over the coming weeks.
    At this stage it is too early to give any clear indication over what is to follow, or any timescales, other than to say that at every stage of the planning application we have worked through potential scenarios and considered our strategy under every likely circumstance.
    We thank everyone for their support – it has been hugely appreciated, and never more so than during the time of the Appeal – and can assure you that with this huge hurdle cleared, we retain an unstinting commitment to get speedway and stock car racing back to their rightful place at Brandon Stadium, and finally bring this saga to an end for the benefit of both the sports and the local community.

    Unfortunately, a new modified planning application is an option that BE can use!!!

    Two leagues with the NDL being one and allow the NDL to run along the lines of NORA so you get at grass roots level, two wheeled entertainment across the various disciplines. Then you have one league made up of five or six man teams from the current championship /premiership clubs with a knock out cup competition, a regional four team tournament and U K individual championship open only to those riders who are UK based.     Whatever they come up with for a new version of the NDL they will have to tackle the issue of payments. Fifty percent and more of the current breed of NDL riders expect good payment for riding, some are paid the same as good Championship riders and this has to stop if there is to be any hope of clubs willing to run some form of NDL style racing alongside their current team racing. Riders have to get their heads round it being a ‘hobby’ at this level and not a full time job. Wasting their money on logo’s vans, fan merchandise etc, the priority is learning to ride first, then ‘race’, the time will come, if they are good enough, for the flash stuff.

    If there is to be a mini version of NDL type racing, perhaps as part of a national style second half racing, but regionalised to reduce travel costs, then riders have to get their head round it being a possible stepping stone to ‘semi professional’ racing, not a ‘good earner’ as some view it now.

    I do hope the powers that be come up with a workable alternative to the NDL or the sport will die.

    Whatever the powers that be come up with they have to take into account school terms for the 15 year olds. That is why there are not many fixtures for he youngsters.

    That may well have been the case, I live 1 and a half miles from the track and although it came over dark there was no rain. That's not to say there wasn't any at the track... but if the track had been covered on the Friday during the whole day of rain we had, there really shouldn't have been any problem at all starting this match

    I live approx 7 miles away and it threw it down from 3pm for 30 minutes

    I really don't know about the drainage but I do know that drying conditions in October ain't what they are earlier in the year with hours of daylight and the strength of the sun etc. There was a lot of rain in Friday and if that's stuck in the shale without those summertime drying conditions it's always going to take longer to dry out

    There was a heavy downpoor mid afternoon on the saturday.

It's amazing on this forum how when the lions are winning all the Leicester employees come out on this forum defending every inch of this club along with gloating and now I don't see any.. hmmmmm. Its all gone quiet with SD and some of the riders at the end of the meeting also. Where are they? What a shame and don't blame it on morris either. He could have got injured for all I care. The back up plan was plain right shocking 

    Considering the downpour just before the start, the track held up well. The riders didn't seem to find it difficult.

    Yeah I m surprised. Mainly because of the way Peter Schroeck had talked about Killeen in the past. Guess to be successful you’ve got to be ruthless in this business at the end of the day. 

    Schroeck wanted AB to go to Oxford at the beginning of the season but AB chose Leicester. PS was disappointed

This league hasn't been particularly well received at Berwick either (not helped by the crazy double header prices). 

    The mass uncertainty of the higher leagues (the higher leagues that are incidentally riddled with much older riders)  which could equally only have enough to form one league leaves the whole sport in a much bigger predicament than whether a D is necessary or not. 

    I am sure that Leicester will be at the tapes next season.
