So, are Poole relocating to Sheffield similar to Wimbledon to MK Dons and Wasps to Coventry? Both teams have made a success of leaving smaller locations to go to bigger and better locations.

Will any of the Poole faithful being cheering on their new franchise?

Shovler could set up a coach company to get to the home meetings there, with Lisa as the trolly dolly

The way to strengthen teams in our league is savvy management by spotting and signing up and coming riders on low averages who then go on to improve their averages. These riders then go on to be the leagues stars replacing riders like Nicholls,Harris and Andersen who's age is catching them up a little,

Swindon have shown us how to do this twice by signing Musielak and Jenssen who have been a major factor in two of Swindons league titles.

There will always be up and coming stars the secret is spotting them early and getting them signed up before anyone else this is where a good manager is worth his weight in gold.To me watching an up and coming rider shine gives me more of a buzz than the club signing an over priced super star who can often leave you disappointed.

I agree with this but then if the riders are really good they get an average which often rules them out of the team a couple of seasons later.  I am happy for Swindon to bring on good riders but not for them to then go to other teams or even abroad.  In the past we have had to lose Batch for a season and Kildemand because of the team limits, and if the one over the eight rule is kept we are likely to lose Batch again, who has been great this season.  Both the fans and the riders get fed up with good Swindon riders leaving the club and although not the only reason the fans and youngsters may well be put off from attending after following then losing their favorite rider. It could also put off sponsors from supporting an individual rider.

I think the thing is, do all teams need to be built equally? They never were before, and it was only when low points limits started coming in that this obsession with equality came in.

The sport has become obsessed with equal averages.

As I said, one team switch (Batchelor to Peterborough) would make a league with all teams competitive, even if they averages at the start of the year weren't all within 0.01 of each other.

Do you think Batch would ride for Chapman ?

All that seems important is that all teams are equal at the start ,and that the solution is having "the correct averages", seems to me that the more you "dumb" down a product the less chance there is of it being successful

But in many seasons the limit is kept and good riders that have improved are penalised because of the average they have earnt, some of which then just ride abroad and the league is weakened.  The team limit should either be increased or got rid of so that the best riders can ride here.  Maybe the answer is for a starting point then any team can keep the same riders for say 3 or 5 years and it is up to other teams to get stronger rather than weaken the successful clubs.  I want to see stronger riders here, preferably British ones so that we can then compete against the other speedway nations.

It only says about 18 meetings from the domestic Premiership league in the SGB website release I read. That's not to say it wont be different when it comes to it

The report states that they have the rights to Premier and Championship meetings, in the summary section near the end of the report

  6. I mentioned that they should also show speedway on Quest so even though it will only be highlights a great move having this option on Quest and DMAX. One advantage of just highlights is not having to listen to Pearson and Tatum for too long.

Not sure why the big deal about it.

A £10 meeting with another 30+ races was on paper a brilliant deal.

Rain wasn’t expected and anyone who was there would know there was no way they could continue on it. It had become a skating rink really quickly.

The fact the meeting was being run this late is the only issue, no point in even trying to rearrange a nothing meeting this season.

Tickets honoured next season, no biggie to me.

£10 ? do not forget the £18 paid tonight, so not just £10.

If the team points limit is increased in the CL, without a corresponding increase in the PL, the difference in standards between the two leagues would obviously diminish but so would the relative costs.

The bspa should increase the PL team limit to 46.5 so that we can keep the same team

  9. Cannot see Berwick or Kent moving up with Berwick having to change its race night and not having its local meetings with the northern clubs.  Nor Kent if they have to keep the curfew and continue to start at 6.30, especially if the clubs still get no say in rules etc for a period of time,  which I could not see Len standing for.

I haven't watched hardly any league racing in BT this season to be fair so cannot comment too much on the quality.. I would imagine that the same production team would be used for the Eurosport coverage so there would be no better or worse coverage of the actual meeting..

Eurosport as a whole though is a fine channel.. I can only assume those criticising it haven't watched too much of it lately because its tons better than the channel it used to be and would be a fine home for British speedway although Eurosport do hold rights for some things and sub contract out elsewhere

Same here, have only watched meetings where Swindon were racing and a couple of GPs, and from the points posted have not missed many decent meetings.  Previously I used to watch nearly every meeting.

THE rights are being purchased by Discovery who have various options where to show it...

It was good when they had it before and showed the GPs on Quest, even though it was a week later as a lot more people have Quest than Eurosport and the tv company gets two channels showing it.  They could do the same with coverage of British Speedway, even a next day repeat, as those not bothered about it being live could enjoy it.  The important point is that a repeat on Quest increases the numbers who might watch it and then go to a local live meeting.

Thanks very much to Racers & Royals for keeping us all updated with this thread, been a brilliant source for checking out the coming week's tv and internet coverage, most of which I would not have been able to find if it weren't for the links provided in other threads (international section), invaluable!

Thanks again Tim, very much appreciated.

    Fully agree, thanks Tim
