  1. According to Tim Stone, the 4tt qualifiers were a pain in the backside to organize, hence why they are not around anymore. I agree though, they were brilliant. Big crowds at each venue, with the teams that actually made the final deserving their place there. Remember the days of when it was Sunday at Newport, Exeter Monday, Isle of WIght Tuesday, Arena Essex Friday, Reading Monday. Good times Each qualifier was like the final itself. I would hope this would be reintroduced for 2010, certainly would please alot of us Premier Fans.
  2. Maybe it wasnt actually TNT posting that, it might of been Beppe from Eastenders or Michael Jacksons ghost?
  3. In other words, he didn't fancy you?
  4. Dont know why people are surprised at Gollobs heat 25 antics. Hes always been an arrogant person who makes little effort to speak English and speak to an interviewer. Entertainer on track (if it suits him) but a hell of a t**t off it.
  5. Why should he of shown his face? He was left out when he clearly should of been in that team as should Richardson. Id stick two fingers up at Lyons if either are asked to ride in Poland!! Fair play, King made me eat some humble pie tonight. Kennett didnt, Woffiden didnt, Bridger didn't. Kennett looked awful all night and Bridger wasnt much better. Woffiden slightly better I thought but still out of his depth at this level. King was awesome, will he ride like that in Poland though, I doubt it. Harris wasnt brilliant but was competitive and scored double figures.
  6. Complete bonkers why Nicholls and Richardson aren't in this team. Nicholls has had a poor year but is still better than the likes of King, Woffiden, Bridger and Kennett. Richardson has been flying all year!!!! You need your best 5 out there no matter what, can anyone honestly say we are fielding our best 5 riders? No because we aint. It's going to be an embarrasing performance from Team GB or England or whatever you want to call it. I actually hope Slovenia beat us to show that p***k Rob Lyon what a pratt hes been by selecting the team he has. Hes on about using Scott and Lee in Poland? Why not tonight at Peterborough. Scott and Lee are both world class riders, despite Scotts poor year. I honestly think we could take 2nd at Peterborough with those two instead of Woffiden and King, but now? No chance. Be lucky to beat Slovenia.
  7. Not even sure why Fisher did it to be honest. Spoilt a brilliant day for him. Andersson looks a good prospect and needs signing asap whilst Westlund looked to be OK but not worth 7 yet.
  8. Fisher rode well no doubt, but looks very much out of control at times. His move on Frampton after the final was bang out of order. He is very exciting to watch, but pulls off some silly moves. It wont be long before an expierience "dirty" PL or even EL rider shoves him under the fence. Also, Andersson was out on front of heat 14 when he took the other 3 wide and they ended up in the fence. I thought he should of been excluded for that but was left in. But the move with Doolan was a weird one.
  9. Not a bad meeting but nowhere near as good as 08. Brummie surprise winners but Lyons rode brilliantly in his late rides and the Piszcz head rode well too.
  10. Any updates? Nothing on Somerset website.
  11. so where is everyone meeting pre meeting this year at cardiff and what time !!!!!!!!
  12. will you be showing your face in cardiff pekker?

    Cardiff

i heard a whisper pinstripe and his cronies and paulco are invading cardiff on the gp day ??????????????? will orion join them for a long awaited stella
  14. At least last year Nicholls would win the odd race, last night he looked dire. I reckon we should tell him to p**s off and not let him back in our league... serves him right for not starting here.

    Lezno Gp

Terrible decision. He did try to lean on Walasek but Walasek just rode straight and didn't turn. Terrible decision.

Very interesting to hear Hans' interview then... seems he will be coming back to England or wants to, although it sounded alot to me as though he is already fixed up?
  17. will get better over time, was hardly going to be awesome on its first meeting. interesting to read on newport fan forum that craig watson has had a successful operation, he is up and about walking and said he will ride again this year! what a man.
  18. people moan about the popularity of the sport, yet when even a hint of moving to a new part of the world to have an FIM round, they go against it! you couldnt make it up! argentina looks to be developing some half tidy riders going on the scores from the rounds this winter. complin, legault, sanchez etc were beaten by unknowns as far as I know so they must have some potential.
  19. Smart was a brilliant rider at PL level, but i am more than convinced he wont ever be riding over here again. imo his best year was his comeback year in 2002 . one hell of an entertainer. been following his aussie scores this winter, and after reading good reviews and outscoring gathercole and proctor in the latest meeting, it more than suggests to me he could still be a heatleader at PL level. think there was more than what meets the eye about him departing british speedway in the way he did. but i think its certain smart will never ride league speedway in europe again.
  20. seems a bit harsh. swindon have signed stead who isnt the rider he was, what you think of that? im sure most fans would like to see wizzer riding, however its only fair that each Wasp gets a ride in it and with 8 positions left, which of these would you say morris is better than? kramer howe doolan doyle korneliussen iversen barker klindt maybe morris could be reserve?
  21. taken from newportwasps.co.uk . Prince of Wales Trophy line up complete 19th January 2009 The full line up has now been announced for the season opener at Newport, the Prince of Wales Trophy in memory of Tim Stone. The eight Newport Wasps of 2009 will be in attendance, plus a mix of Elite and Premier League stars, The two star captures for the meeting will without doubt be former Newport riders Mads Korneliussen and Niels Kristian Iversen. The Danish duo were both given their Premier League debuts with the Welsh club, both in 2003. Therefore they would like to ride in the meeting, as a way of showing their respect to Tim Stone. Recent New Year Classic winner Ben Barker is also riding, as well as Australian duo Jason Doyle and Kevin Doolan. Local rivals Somerset will have an interest with the confirmation that Swedish star Emil Kramer will be taking to the track, whilst David Howe and Nicolai Klindt complete the line up. Co promoter Nick Mallett said "'We have assembled an interesting mix of Elite League riders, top Premier League stars and our own Wasps. It will give the fans a real treat while allowing our own riders to gain some important track time". This is one of the strongest line ups seen at Queensway Meadows for a long time, and it promises to be a top meeting. The promotion have confirmed that the new air fence, obtained during the winter months, will be ready for use as well as part of the track being relayed in time. Iversen and Korneliussen will both be riding in the meeting, which starts at 1pm, before heading up the M4 to Swindon for their Diamond Jubilee meeting. It was first thought that the Danes would only ride at Swindon, but they were desperate to ride at Newport as well to show their official respects to the man that brought them to Britain. Full Lineup (not in riding order): Mark Lemon Craig Watson Chris Kerr Jordan Frampton Brent Werner James Holder Nick Simmons Kyle Newman Niels Kristian Iversen Mads Korneliussen David Howe Nicolai Klindt Jason Doyle Kevin Doolan Emil Kramer Ben Barker
  22. Its about time that people stopped bickering in this thread. Its driving everybody nuts by the seems of things, espiecially the newport fan who really needs to give it a rest. Has it occured that the Poole Promotion and the new Newport promotion are fine with this now?
  23. this really does go to show that the GP series is NOT the top riders in the world. harris finished behind both iversen and bjarne pedersen last year. iversen missed one gp through injury and pedersen missed two through injury. yet they arent in the 2009 series and harris is?? bjarne pedersen is clearly a much better rider than harris in the leagues and gps, whilst iversen i think is aswell. both are alot more professional imo. it should be the top 15 riders in the world riding in the gps. therefore no harris. absoloutely shocking.

    Wild Cards For 09

nicholls must be a wild card. he is what, 9th in the world? he is by far and large the best brit out there and mixes it in the gps with the big boys. kennett in the gps? dont make me laugh! harris a wild card? LOL. what planet do some of you chaps live on ?? wild cards should definately be nicholls, emil the russian, and 2 of hampel, iversen, zagar and lindgren. holders already said hes not ready and emil the russian is a much better talent than him IMO. done him twice in the last 2 u21s.
