  1. Basso was awful in heat 3, looked like a novice. Forgot that he spent a season at Poole as well. These 3-3's will do you @TheWellBehavedWorrall
  2. Already, this heat could decide who is going to win it. 5-1 from Glasgow and I reckon it could all be over.
  3. What a first couple of bends by Harris.
  4. Got injured didn't he? Track looks grippy round the outside, surely that's going to play straight into Harris's hands? Poole should of prepared the slickest of tracks IMO.
  5. I am tuned in with my flat white! Have travelled to my computer desk via victoria station and am pumped for this! Go Pirates!
  6. Youd have to have less riders per team as if all teams are in one league you couldnt have doubling up. There isnt enough riders to go round of a good standard for a big league, and there isnt enough clubs anymore to do two leagues plus a NDL.
  7. He was pissing Lynn about as well so its hard to imagine Chapman to continue paying for his services at another club of his? It must of been financed from someone else.

Then in that case, i reckon theres a good chance a Wolves/Brum merger could work. But could require a complete re brand of Birmingham.
  9. I do wonder the logic behind that to be fair. It's a weird one. Was it actually Chapman paying for those riders?
  10. Merge the top two tiers. Change race format and have 5 rider teams instead of 7. Each team races each other once at home and once away. Top 4 do a 4TT style play off at end of season. If the teams closing actually go (Wolves, Peterborough) then you can't go with two leagues again.
  11. You are one of the fans I was referring to when I mentioned Lynn fans being fed up of him for years. I was talking about Bald Bloke more than anyone as all season long he has defended Chapman.
  12. Hey Crump99, I was just stating what I have read on here in the years since Chapman took over. If he has made money out of it, then that's even more of a reason to negotiate the sale of whatever resembles the club. The fact is Chapman is a guy who has been involved in speedway for decades so he should first and foremost have the clubs interests at heart. And he obviously doesn't. That farewell meeting line up was appalling and a massive smack in the face to loyal Panthers fans who turn up and pay week in week out to watch them, regardless of form. If he did sell and in a year or so Peterborough are back at a new home and a roaring success, he wouldn't stand the thought of it. He'd rather the club went to the wall.

Or Birmingham Wolves perhaps? Birmingham Wanderers?

Agree. Birmingham going into the EL is financial suicide. The more you think of it, I would say its definite that Wolves promotion have got something to do with it.

I know that, I posted recently that Peterborough fans wont travel to support Lynn as its not the same. But if, say, Birmingham and Wolves merged (have no idea what they would rename themselves) and a few of Wolves riders signed for them as well as the Wolves promotion merging with the Birmingham promotion, that could possibly work no?

Birmingham stepping up IMO will only work if the club is renamed to something to accommodate a Wolves influence. Otherwise forget it. Remember the year they went EL and made the final of the play offs? There crowds that year were still below a 1000 every week and that was ten years ago. If the likes of CVS and Adams etc join Birmingham it could work. Maybe. Its only 18 miles according to a quick Google search. However, if Birmingham as they are move up then unless a multi millionaire is bank rolling the club, it won't be a success. IMO of course.

    Edinburgh Team 2024

Don't agree with the first part. He could be suffering from serious depression over a recent event that over time could fade away with each passing year. I know this having been through depression myself. Cook was a superb rider make no mistake, but as stated his reliability the last few years makes him unemployable, at least by a top side. You may see someone desperate for a number one signing him, if he wants to race on, but you wont see any decent side building a team around him. I have a feeling that Glasgow seen the warning signs and that's why they replaced him. And what a move that was as if you put Cook in that Glasgow team for Harris, it doesn't make the play offs. I don't like Cook and never have but it would be good to see him turn everything around and come back strong. I think Wilson and Stoney were better due to dominance in a much stronger league for over 5 seasons but Cook is up there with one of the best number ones in the second tier in the last 25 ish years.
  18. I always get confused at these comments that fans of a club thats closed will go and watch their nearest rivals. Especially a club ran by the guy who run their own club into the ground. Fans don't travel in numbers to watch speedway once their track has shut. They may do for a meeting or two but it soon stops. When Newport closed, I had absolutely no intention of going to Swindon or Somerset. Never the same thing.
  19. Wasn't I meant to be on your blocked list? LOL. If Glasgow win this tonight, you will come rolling out the excuses forever.
  20. Those who have been sticking up for Chapman need to give their heads a huge shake. If there is a party willing to take Peterborough Speedway off his hands, just let them have it FFS. The way he has conducted himself this season has been an absolute joke. What is there to actually sell? Lynn's fans have been sick of him for a long time. And that farewell meeting is nothing short of a disgrace. Clearly put together on the cheap hoping for a huge crowd and one last big payday for him. Shameful. Despite his son being a flash pr**k in some peoples eyes, the minute he left Kings Lynn the place went downhill. I get that Chapman is a businessman and has lost a chunk of money at Peterborough but that in itself should tell you that he has two options. 1. Take whatever amount he is being offered or 2. Keep hold of it and make absolutely nothing back. If he is this astute businessman that people have claimed, he should be taking option 1. It all reminds me of 2012 at Newport when Phil Morris was trying to buy Newport Speedway from the Mallett family and they wouldn't sell, instead leaving the place derelict and vandalized until the landlords reclaimed it and sold it on to another haulage company. Bitter at the thought of seeing someone else making a go of it. That is exactly what seems to be happening here.
  21. You should know by now that the woman is just brain dead. It's like random words just come out of her mouth. It is worrying that shes actually a fully grown adult. Would be great to see Glasgow win this actually just to see her have a meltdown and come out with every excuse under the sun. But if Poole do choke, we will have to listen to Gavan going on and on for ever gloating so its a tricky one isn't it?!
  22. Perfectly set up this match. Be great to see a Glasgow win but Poole deserve it after finishing top of the table.
  23. I remember Mark Loram in 2003 jumping around like he was part of the Poole team that won the league when he was guesting. end of the day, guests have always been a part of the sport. Sheffield lost J Holder, Woffy and Tobi M through injurys and im sure if they had it there way theyd of wanted a fall side.
  24. I really don't have much issue with the GP challenge riders getting in. Its the wild cards that get me. The challenge has always had weaker riders getting in most years, its the way it is. Huckenbeck and Lebedevs should be nowhere near the series. No where good enough. If they want to nail the sport in Germany and Latvia, then maybe put on decent events with top class racing. Far more likely to bring in natives rather than them watching an off the pace Huckenbeck and out of control Lebedevs. I agree with many who have stated that special spark of the GP series has faded now. There is absolutely nothing inspiring about the upcoming series. Also, as much as I love the city of Cardiff and the stadium is superb, what is the point in holding the event there with 20000ish fans? Looks awful on tv. Should be moved to Belle Vue for sure.
