SGP wild cards 2024
Pinny replied to longmeadow's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I really don't have much issue with the GP challenge riders getting in. Its the wild cards that get me. The challenge has always had weaker riders getting in most years, its the way it is. Huckenbeck and Lebedevs should be nowhere near the series. No where good enough. If they want to nail the sport in Germany and Latvia, then maybe put on decent events with top class racing. Far more likely to bring in natives rather than them watching an off the pace Huckenbeck and out of control Lebedevs. I agree with many who have stated that special spark of the GP series has faded now. There is absolutely nothing inspiring about the upcoming series. Also, as much as I love the city of Cardiff and the stadium is superb, what is the point in holding the event there with 20000ish fans? Looks awful on tv. Should be moved to Belle Vue for sure. -
Sheffield Tigers vs Ipswich Witches (playoff final 2nd leg) 05/10/23
Pinny replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sheffield's team ruined by injuries is a shame to see. A fully fit side, you would of expected them to win this over two legs. Think Danny King has been a big key to Ippos success late on, Doyle and Emil have been racking up points for fun all season where as King wasn't . He has been flying for them lately. Still, a shame to see injuries ruin any chance of a competitive final. The likes of Lambert mouthing off on camera do nothing good for the sport to any newcomer who may of tuned in to watch the final. Fancy turning your back on your home league for the majority of the season then coming back for a few quid at the end of the season and slagging the tracks on live TV. Kn0bend. -
SGP wild cards 2024
Pinny replied to longmeadow's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No doubt about it, that line up is the worst I have seen in 25 years. Awful. I actually think bringing back a 24 rider field (22 perm and 2 wild cards per round) with the eliminators would be a good idea now like the late 90s and early 2000s. I dont think anyone would disagree that they were far, far more exciting than what we have at the moment? That line up, along with the current commentary team , will add no excite at all. -
Maybe stevebrum could pay back his benefit fraud money to help the wolves? https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/man-faked-being-wheelchair-bound-22024413.amp

Thing is with Riss tho is if he is riding unfit for most the season how come now and again he has a cracking meeting?
-
Have to agree - hes been an absolute class act this season. I didnt think he would be as committed as he has been but he has been superb. Maybe Doyle's loyalty to British Speedway has rubbed off on him as in the last 20 or so years I dont think I have seen a more committed overseas rider in the UK than Doyle.

22.09.2023 - Playoff SF, Scunny vs Poole
Pinny replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Scunthorpe drawing at Poole really has opened these play offs up, is it the winner of each group to the final? -
We will probably go and beat them now!

Guests have been a thing since I have been following the sport. The only difference is, back then it was very rare that a rider would be missing unless they were genuinely injured. Mike Coles, Phil Morris, Brent Werner, Neville Tatum, Colin White and Jan Pedersen were all regular guests for Newport in 1999 when Anders Henriksson and then Frank Smart were out injured. It has always been the case. What gets on my nerves is when riders are apparently injured, then ride in Sweden on a Tuesday and then are unfit to ride on a Wednesday for their British club before riding in Poland on the Sunday. There are only two solutions to stop all this. Either pay what Poland do OR ban any rider who races in Poland. Sadly, either option looks about as likely as Manchester United winning in Munich this evening!

Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.
Pinny replied to rearingtogo's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Have always liked Phil Morris. Could never understand how he didn't feature in a Newport side earlier than when he did with him just living up the road. There was talk he didn't get on well with Tim Stone but he still seemed to guest a lot for us so not sure on that one. But he always gave full effort on the track and takes no nonsense as I posted elsewhere the other day. He was never going to change the sport over night but given time I think he is the right man for the job. His speech regarding Coventry was brilliant and obviously well written and backed up. Even though I don't live there anymore, it would be brilliant to see him behind the opening of a new track in Wales. I have been hearing a few rumors lately about a track not a million miles away from where Queensway Meadows was being opened, so who knows maybe thats the one he is referring to?! -
Remember in 1999 he was class for Reading, Anders and Wato had his number home and away tho.
