Foxhall is certainly a stadium where social distancing should not be an issue given its capacity of about 12,000. I would say the average crowd apart from playoffs and maybe bank holidays is roughly around the 1,500 mark so masks are not necessary. If the government were to make them compulsory it would make me think twice about going, I can't stand anything over my face at any time let alone in a big wide open air stadium.

League to run over two seasons

This idea is big No as far as I'm concerned.

The other thread on this subject didn't to take long to disappear given the nature of the subject and I think its only a matter of time before this one gets removed. So have your say quickly

It just shows sadly how Speedway has fallen in popularity over the years, those were definitely 'the good old days' to quote a much used expression.

Good grief, I was there, it was my first ever meeting. I didn't realise till the events of heat 4 were mentioned. Specific details are very vague when you are 11 years old but Shrimps accident brought it all back.

    dannys day auction

Also rather sadly and depending on some kind of season actually starting we may have to face the fact that Danny's day might not even happen this year. Much as I'd love to bid and put some money Jodie's way I can't afford to. It maybe would have raised more money if it was done as a raffle at possibly £5 a ticket, dunno but just an idea.

Personally I believe that as and when or indeed if the season gets going it's going to be a very curtailed one that will have to run whenever, on the days where most riders are available. With a lot of riders having commitments in Poland, Sweden and Denmark that most likely will take priority who knows who we'll actually get to see as I'm sure the aforesaid countries will also be trying to cram in as many fixtures as possible. I don't mind what days of the week they run on as long as all teams get enough meetings and money in to survive the current unprecedented devastation of activities in the world.

There was an ambulance at the track today. Didn't say St John on it but it did say it was for critical care transfer.

Crumpy looked to me like he was easing his was back into it, just a personal opinion of course, others looked quicker to me but when they are not actually racing anyone they always look good. Anyway, numbers on their backs said 1 Crump 2 Heeps 3 King 4 Allen 5 Klindt 6 Covatti 7 Kemp Can only assume this will be the definitive order.

Was good to see the lads doing a few laps today, managed to sneak in to watch them practice. With the meet the riders night cancelled at least I've seen the new kit and the riding order was obvious from the numbers on their backs.

Chris Louis told me a couple of years back he would not actually stop anyone from watching the practice days, it's just not an official event that's all. The way I see it, It's a case of the doors being open or not. They were open last year but conditions were too wet. The cafe stopped opening daily 2 or 3 years ago. I'm going weather permitting. Whenever I've been to watch I've never failed yet.

For anyone planning to go to P+P day on 18th I've popped along to the stadium and theres no sign of the cafe being open during the day on weekdays. Couldn't find anyone to ask if it might be opening specially either. I'd take a flask if you want a hot drink.
  15. Having read through most of this thread I feel that Peterborough having put together a more competitive team team this year are trying to shoot themselves through the foot. I myself, although neither currently disabled or a BB holder i have recently suffered ill health and walking is not as easy as it used to be. I have regularly been a visitor when the Witches come to town but now feel that with the managements lack of consideration for those less fortunate health wise that I won't bother this year! It's not just BB holders that may not attend, there may well be others as well. Let's hope a few more may be tempted along if the team is doing well to counteract the shortfall. No real speedway fan wants to see any team go out of business due to bad financial decisions!

I wouldn't rely on the diner being open as I dont think it's open daily any more like it has been in the past. BTW, due to local regulations the practice cannot start till 2pm.

Pedersens gating was always his biggest asset and since that's declined a bit his only way past other riders is to take them out. Hence the reason he gets a lot of gyp from fans ! He may put a few bums on seats but his dirty riding style (polite version) is what generally makes him disliked by everyone whose team he doesn't ride for.

Oh well, having had a couple of hours to mull this news over and without wishing to appear too negative I'm afraid I'm totally underwhelmed. I am seriously hoping I'm wrong with what I'm about to say and I want to be eating humble pie but here goes. A 44 year old long retired 'has been' at No1 , albeit a previous 3 times world champion does not inspire me to believe we will be at all competitive this season. Even he isn't confident of what he's capable of now. Although it's great to see Drew signed up as a full Witch I'm not sure he's ready for the top league of British speedway, he struggled in the Championship last season, again I would love to be proved wrong. Last year I quite enjoyed the Witches being written off as wooden spooners by everyone but this year I think I'm going to be agreeing with them. My enthusiasm for the coming season is seriously dented.

Out of all the names mentioned on here there are certainly one or two that would not particularly impress me. Let's put it this way, if it is Jason Crump, an ex world champion who retired 8 years ago then that's not my idea of exciting news. Smacks of desperation to me!

I have to admit some positive news right now would be good, let's hope Chris can pull a magical rabbit out of the hat for us! Its also going to be hard for whoever has the job of filling the reserve birth as I'm sure like myself everyone was looking forward to the enthusiasm of Mr Entertainer this coming season?

I see they've announced the 'Meet the riders' night for March 18th. Shouldn't it be a 'Meet the ride we have actually signed so far night' ? Times getting a bit short in reality and although tragically we lost one rider I for one would really like to know what the current situation is. A couple of weeks ago CL said he would hopefully be in a position to give some news within a fortnight, maybe he's just waiting for some paperwork or possibly till after Danny's funeral on Friday?

Only just caught up on this, as a regular at Mildy I can pretty much confirm that the racing in the video was where the Dog track is and the current track is a hell of a lot shorter hence the 49 point something track record.
