**Puts tin hat on**
Firstly I thought tonight was an extremely entertaining meeting, on a difficult track (due to weather we have had over the last 48 hours) so the first thing to do is say a massive well done and thanks to the track staff, who must have worked so hard to get, not just a meeting on, but a meeting which dished up some close exciting racing.
My second thank you goes to Aaron Summers, what a superb choice of guest. A real shame he didn't get his maximum but will be extremely chuffed with tonight's showing. I hope the merry band of Redcar fans who were beside me enjoyed the meeting and have a safe journey home.
Something really did annoy me tonight though. No it wasn't the "Gamesmanship" by Ipswitch riders, it was indeed a section of my fellow Monarch supporters. Halfway down the back straight stood a group of "Mature" gentleman who in my opinion are a disgrace to the Monarchs. From the end of heat 2 the vile and venom aimed at young marcel was disgusting. When told in a friendly kind of way "C'Mon lads he's just a young laddie" their venom was soon directed at their own fans. This was the only downer on my night, nothing the Ipswich rider did could match that disgusting behaviour.
Now onto the "Gamesmanship" and this is where the tin hat comes in. Yes it is frustrating as a fan when your team is on a 5-1 and the race is stopped because a rider fails to leave the track, however some of the comments on here would only be justified if we Edinburgh were not guilty of having used these kind of tactics in the past also. Off the top of my head I can remember Theo and Derek both laying on track this season when the opposition have been on a 5-1. I think the problem tonight was that it happened two heats in a row, so frustration boiled over. But in my opinion it's all a todo about nothing.
Can't wait for next Friday though. Let's hope the weather is a bit kinder to us than it's been of late.
